Serenity and peace in the woods of Maine. Surrounded by 8 acres of woods, and a private brook running right through the back yard, it's the perfect place to relax and get away from everyone and everything. It's like camping... but in a house instead of a tent.
ON PROPERTY: You can spend your days just relaxing inside, with two televisions, cable tv, and internet wifi. Or you can relax on the back porch, or light up the outdoor firepit. There are hiking trails right from the property to the brook (1 minute from the back porch) and also to the nearby peaks as well as Bradly Pond. There is a washer and dryer in the basement, and a kitchen for cooking upstairs. A wood stove is available on the chilly or cold days and nights as well.
THE BROOK: If the brook is not frozen, go put your feet in, or completely cover yourself by sitting in the rushing waters. You can follow the brook as a guide to have a nice hike in all seasons.
WIFI/PHONE/ELECTRICITY: There is wifi provided that works both inside and out. There is zero cell phone service, but most modern cell phones operate if there is a wifi connection. There is no home phone. If wifi is out due to a storm, the Center Lovell Market is about 5 miles up the road. If the power goes out, use some of the provided candles. Central Maine Power aims to restore power within 24 hours of any electrical interruption.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: There is room enough to sleep 6 individuals in 6 different 'beds', and more if there are couples. The bedroom has a twin (1 - 2 people), a narrow twin (1 person), and a cot (1 person). The very large loft has a queen (1 - 3 people), and a pull-out underneath (1 - 2 people). The living room has a sofa that turns into a bed (1 - 2 people). In total, the home can sleep 6 - 9 people. Each room has bedding that is included.
BATHROOM: There is 1 bathroom, and it's cute and charming. It has a small standing shower, one toilet, and one sink. Towels and toiletries provided. No hair dryer currently.
OFFSITE: You're close to anything you want to do. In summer and fall, you're less than a mile from both Kezar Lake and also Lake Kuwaydin. In winter and spring, you're 25 minutes from Sunday River in one direction, and 20 minutes from Pleasant Mountain in the other direction. You are 25 minutes from Fryeburg, and 45 minutes from North Conway.
HEATING: In Fall/Winter/Spring, we ask that guests choose to either use the wood stove, or to pay a surcharge to use the very expensive electric heating. We are fine if you wish to use the electric heat, but you would be responsible for the heating bill. Using the wood stove is included in the costs, and the wood is provided at no additional charge.
AMENITIES: Many amenities you need (minus clothing and food) are provided for you. Toilet paper, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, paper towels, bath towels, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, wifi, iron, ironing board, and more are provided for you.
