We provide a starter supply of essentials to help guests settle in on arrival, but we appreciate that expectations can vary and it’s always helpful to hear what guests would find useful. Fresh milk and other perishable items are not provided as standard due to differing dietary requirements, hygiene considerations, and food waste, but we do offer optional extra packs for guests who would like additional provisions waiting for them on arrival. Hi Nicola, Thank you for your review. Barf Cottage in Portinscale is the ideal cosy cottage for a break in the Lakes. The village is quiet but the hustle and bustle of Keswick is only a short walk or car journey away. There is a bus service that runs through the village if you would prefer to leave the car parked up. We were thrilled to welcome you back and we will hopefully see you again soon. Hi Frances, Thank you for your review. We have certainly had a lot of rain recently but Barf Cottage is a lovely cottage that can be made extra cosy when you light the fire. Hi Sarah, Thank you for your review. Barf Cottage is in a great location in the quiet village of Portinscale. It is a short flat walk in to Keswick town centre but there are regular buses that run through the village that can take you there or further afield. Thank you very much for your review. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your holiday at this characterful Lakeland retreat. It is lovely to return to the cosy open fire during the Winter months after a day of walking and exploring the fells! We were very sorry that you found some debris on the floor when you arrived. As soon as you reported your concerns we sent two members of our team round to the cottage to get this rectified as quickly as possible. As explained on your arrival, the cottage had been thoroughly cleaned and checked off at our usual high standard, however during the check we had found a couple of maintenance issues that required attention. We had booked this in with the maintenance team straight away in an effort to avoid any inconvenience during your stay, however unfortunately they had not realised that some debris had been left behind on the floors. Please be assured your feedback regarding dust has been passed on to the Housekeeping Manager, who has scheduled the next deep clean. We're pleased this did not spoil your stay and hope to welcome you back for another visit in the near future.
