We love Santa Rosa, and we've stayed at Gulf Place many times. Always in the Cabana building, and always a great stay. This was the first time staying in the Caribbean building. I've never had to leave a negative review, but needed to say a few things about this unit. This unit is managed by a company, and it was not a great experience. The listing said Check in after 5:00 p.m. (which seemed very late), and check out by 9:00 a.m. (seemed very early). Our first night there the toilet backed up which I had to plunge. A piece of the ceiling fell on my daughter's head while she was in the shower, and the tub took 10 minutes to drain. I opened the drain to find it completely plugged with hair which I had to clean out myself. It was absolutely disgusting! I emailed the company to tell them about this and also that there was no dish soap, and I got no response. I then emailed again to tell them that there were some bulbs out and asked if they managed the unit above because the guests were so loud! They came to replace the bulbs, but still no response to my emails. I emailed them a third time to ask for more toilet paper. They left me a voice mail saying that they only provide the first roll which was already partially used. So 5 nights, 4 guests they gave us one roll of tp that was not even new. She did say they talked to the guests above and asked them to try to not be so loud but it didn't do anything. The day before we were supposed to check out I called the office to ask for an 11:00 am check out. She said "sorry, we can't". I then told her that I was the one who cleaned the disgusting drain of other people's hair and didn't even get a response from them apologizing, or even a thank you. I said that we paid a lot of money to stay there and cleaning the drain was not what i paid for. Told her i saved them a visit from a plumber, so maybe they could show some good faith for that and give us an 11:00 check out instead of 9:00. She said check out was 10:00 then put me on hold. Came back to say "sorry, we can't do 11:00, it's a turnover day. 10:00 check out". I was very surprised that they didn't accommodate us after what I had to do with the tub. We left the place by 10:00 and went to the beach for a few hours. At 1:00 p.m. we were packing up to head home, and I was curious to see if they cleaned the unit. I looked inside at 1:00 p.m. and it was NOT cleaned yet. 3 hours after we checked out! Not great customer service.
