perfect spot and home

We had three generations of family stay here and all of us loved it! The accommodations were clean and very comfortable (especially the beds). The location was perfect (close to beaches, shops, and restaurants) and the private pool and hot tub were a wonderful treat. We would absolutely stay here again.

Spring Break 2023

It was the perfect house for our family (6 adults and 4 teenagers). Great location. Best equipped kitchen ever. Loved having our own pool and hot tub. Plenty of room for everyone. Would highly recommend this house.

Perfect!

It met all of our expectations...12 adults/kids. The pool/hot tub made all the difference. Great space. Well equipped. The Club was wonderful, we had our 50th anniversary dinner at Napua and we enjoyed the food/view/ambiance. Perfect location..putting green and garbage bins within 50 feet. The local pool/workout room was very nice as well.

House of Joy lives up to its name!

Terrific house! We travel a lot, always using either VRBO or AirBNB, but this was by far the best stocked house we've ever stayed in. Everything, including bicycles, boogie boards, beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, cooler, etc. were available. The house was spotless and a in a great location! The pool is wonderful and the service is impeccable Highly Recommend!

Family vacation in paradise

This house exceeded our expectations. It is actually better than the listing. We have had the opposite happen many times. This was the most well provisioned house we have ever stayed in. They had everything for the kitchen from aluminum foil to a rolling pin and whisk. The beach supplies were also abundant. We enjoyed the private beach and club access that is included with the property. This property is a gem and I highly recommend.

Awesome house!

When you first walk up the stairs into the house, it is just wow! This is a lovely house with everything you need to have a great time on the Big Island. We enjoyed access to the private beach club and then being able to jump into the private pool. The view of the sunset on the lanai was not bad either. What really impressed us was the quick response from property management (before and during our stay). When we felt the AC was not working correctly, they sent someone out within 5 minutes! We definitely recommend staying here, but keep good care of the house cause we want to come back again :-). Mahalo, PIH!

Great House for a Family of All Ages

The house had great amenities - everything from a kitchen with anything you would need to make meals, to gas grill, bikes, beach chairs, beach towels and the list goes on. The house was comfortable, clean, and had a great view from the deck. The family loved the pool and hot tub and the Beach Club was only a few miles away with a wonderful protected bay for swimming in the ocean. The property managers were very responsive to questions. A heads up about a few items: 1) The doors sometimes appear to be closed but aren't. You need to push them tightly shut to make sure the air conditioner doesn't shut off. 2) If you have adult children coming from a lot of directions, the property only has parking for a maximum of four cars. 3) If you want to rent a Golf Cart, I would highly recommend Resort Carts. Really a great house for a family vacation. There were not any negatives to this house.

Family of 9!

My family of 9 fit comfortable in this home. Close to all amenities for groceries, dinner, and there are beaches galore close!! 30 min from Kona. We loved the kitchen where we prepared daily meals and a large table to enjoy them. My adult children shared a room with their significant others, my mother in law had her own room, my sister and her son shared a king and my husband and I had the Master. When we arrived there was a wasp nest and I called and within minutes someone was here taking care of it! They were amazing. We enjoyed the heated spa and pool and all the toys. The only complaint I would have is it needed a good deep cleaning as there was lots of sand under the area rugs and a film on the floors. (Sand is impossible) We needed the pull out bed and when it was pulled out it had sand inside. (Where isn’t sand)We changed the sheets and there were lots of extra blankets and sheets to accommodate. We used the cooler, chairs and umbrella at the beach. All in all was a fabulous and comfortable trip from this momma of 6.

Great location and home but unwelcoming neighborhood.

Great trip with our family. While many hoops to jump through it was worth it. With one exception; the neighborhood. The home was all the pictures showed and beautiful the managing staff and neighbors made life stressful in the middle of our vacation. We rented golf carts, the management company said it was a good idea and a lot of people do. While at private club we saw cart parking was on the grass we really didn’t see why we couldn’t park our cart on the grass at home. Of course not on any plants or near any sprinklers.We received a call mid day from the management company about a number of complaints about the golf cart so we moved it. No problem. Later that night my brother parked his cart on our grass, we did not realize. We got knock at the door around 10pm and my niece answers the door to a gentleman who was extremely rude, she lets him know we will move it right away and his response was yea you better. My husband goes outside to move it and the gentleman continues to be confrontational and say we own these homes and you’re going to lose your deposit. Extremely rude and made all of us feel uncomfortable. Next morning I woke up to an email from the management company letting us know how disappointed they were and that we would be getting a fine. They also then included the below: Please also be aware there are a maximum of 10 people allowed to gather per the Mayor's Emergency COVID rules. If you violate these rules residents are likely to call the police and violations are a misdemeanor involving $5000 fines and/or 1 year in jail. While I was aware of this we had spoke many times with the management company as this was a large family trip and our home alone was occupied by 11 people. I had been told not an issue prior to traveling to the island. I called the home management company and was told how there had been at least 5 pictures sent in from neighbors and that we now are on their radar and should lay low. My stress level went through the roof- so now I have to worry about going to jail because some neighbors are mad we parked golf carts in grass? My husband being a police officer spoke to an officer there and was assured we were fine and would not be arrested with what we were doing. This was all so unfortunate. We fixed the problem. But were harassed by neighbors and being told we were on a radar made the last half of our trip uncomfortable when at the home.

Our stay was lovely and with 12 family members it never felt crowded. The open kitchen, family room was great for gathering. We loved having the access to the Hilton pool and Mauna lani beach club. Would definitely stay again

Great Family Vacation Spot

There were 12 of us and the house is plenty big. The main room has tons of seating so we could all eat together. We had an 8 month old and they provided a high chair, pack and play, and monitor. It was very clean and stocked really well. Plenty of beach/pool towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, bath towels, soap, and even spices. The location was great. There is a private beach (not walking distance) and 2 other nice beaches within 10-15 minutes drive. The upstairs lanai overlooking the golf course was my favorite spot! The only down side with the location is all excursions were in Kona, a 40 minute drive and the baby didn’t like that! Our older kids had no problem with the drive. Shout out to Lava Java in Waikoloa Village where we had our last breakfast heading to the airport…they were fantastic!

Wonderful, Quiet family spot on the Big Island

We were a family of 5 children (age 3-12) and 6 adults that stayed here. The house was perfect for us in that everyone was able to sleep in a room, thus leaving the whole living area to enjoy at all times. The Lanai was a real treat to eat meals and we made great use of the well stocked kitchen and Lanai BBQ. The kids were able to swim in the very warm house pool, as well as the large resort pool which was just a short walk away. The house came well supplied with spare fins, snorkel equipment, bikes, and beach supplies for the excellent snorkeling at Mauna Lani beach. Communication with the host was easy, responsive, and convenient and they were able to accommodate our late check-out request, and since some had flights that didn't leave until 10pm, it was very much appreciated. For our families purposes, we could not have asked for a more ideal spot.

Lovely Vacation

Our stay at House of Joy was fantastic. The house met our needs, the pool was FANTASTIC (especially for little bugs just learning to swim), the kitchen is huge and allows for cooking with a large group, and the rental agency was so superb and easy with whom to communicate. We highly recommend.

Great stay!

12 members of my family stayed for a week over Christmas. We loved the backyard heated pool and jacuzzi, especially because the community pools were really cold. Since we were such a large group, we ate all our meals at the house. We even cooked turkey with all the trimmings for Christmas, in the well equipped kitchen. We had a few issues at check in and the property managers responded quickly. The location is perfect. We went to Mauna Lani Beach to snorkel several times, boogie boarded at Hapuna Beach, did a hike near Puuhonua o Honaunau (City of Refuge), and hiked into Polulu Valley past Hawi. It was a perfect fit for our family and a great stay!
