Sailors Rest: Pool & Sauna, Tropical Island Oasis, Fireplace, Kid-Friendly

Enter the gates of Sailors Rest, immerse yourself in the lush palm-filled scenery, discover hidden gardens, unwind by the pool, and experience the perfect blend of romance and family-friendly atmosphere.

The Space:

Two luxury queen-sized beds, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, keurig coffee machine, high-speed business internet, and work station in the living room.

Amenities:

Take a dip in our heated pool (typically heated April - November) or enjoy a cold drink in our outdoor Biergarten or patios, perfect for al fresco dining, all while surrounded by lush gardens and the beauty of nature.

Enjoy the outdoor fireplace, s’mores kits, two grills, infrared sauna, koi pond, farm-fresh eggs daily from our chickens, pool towels, beach chairs, and relaxing fountains throughout the property. See info about kids amenities below.

A note about well water:

Our water comes from a well and is treated with an advanced Evolve water purification system. It's clean, safe for drinking, showering, and daily use, and free from typical well water odors as much as possible. We regularly test it to ensure its quality.

However, if you're very sensitive to well water or find its hardness bothersome, this may not be the right place for you. For pure drinking and cooking water, there is a separate faucet with reverse osmosis filtration.

Guest Access:

As the only guest on the property, you'll have all the privacy and tranquility you need to unwind and recharge. The property is self-check-in, and hosts are available on-premises and happy to help you with anything you need during your stay.

Amenities for Families:

We are a kid-friendly space with an outdoor baby/toddler swing, plenty of toys, a baby countertop bathtub, kid's books, and a Pack n-Play. Children will have a blast feeding the chickens and koi fish and swimming in the pool.

Nearby:

Kiawah Island and its pristine beaches are just a 10-minute drive from Sailors Rest.

Folly Beach is a 20-30 minute drive.

Downtown Charleston is a 20-30 minute drive.

Freshfields Village has a Harris Teeter grocery store and plenty of local boutiques and restaurants for every taste and is 10 minutes away.

Rosebank Farms and Storey Farms nearby provide a taste of local charm with fresh local produce, seafood, and unique gifts. Gather your local supplies here and utilize our full-sized kitchen to cook at home.

Lovely Oasis

We had a wonderful time during our stay at sailor’s rest. The property is gorgeous, and it was a perfect place to stay with our infant! The owners were very kind and accommodating.

Wonderful Escape

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderfully unique house and property. It felt like you were in your own relaxing world. It was a great location. Close to John’s Island main drag and about 20 minutes to Charleston. The owners are wonderful people who put their heat and soul into this place. I highly recommend this property.

Serene place w/beautiful gardens

The grounds are so beautiful with their luscious gardens, pool and other areas to relax and enjoy. Wish we had spent more time at Sailor's rest and not been off the property as much. There were also wonderfully delicious restaurants nearby.

Enchanted Garden

What a charming, peaceful place to stay! I don’t know where to start. The minute the gate opens, you feel like you’ve entered an enchanted garden. From the large open yard to the winding paths with hidden gardens, there’s so much to see. The teens had a ball exploring and hanging out on the tree house deck. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace, the pool, the sauna and the pavilion. Then there is the adorable round house! Oh and the farm fresh eggs! The owners are precious and have excellent communication.We loved every minute of it and plan to go back again.

Beautiful property in a perfect location

Sailors rest is gorgeous, and the owners are very friendly and courteous. They offered fresh eggs and a full kitchen for those who like to cook, and for those who don't, there's plenty of restaurants nearby that don't disappoint.

Sailors Rest

Overall awesome experience. Very nice accommodations. Pool and grounds were beautiful and very well kept. Hosts were fantastic. Location central to beaches and Charleston, and far enough out to be quiet and private in the evening. We couldn't get the grill to light one evening, and the very next morning he had a brand new one! Ten out of ten, highly recommend.

Wonderful oasis!

Our family had the most relaxing vacation at Sailor’s Rest! Ginny & Neil have built a tranquil and peaceful oasis! We enjoyed daily swims in the pool, sauna and exploring the property - koi pond, treehouse, chickens and more (daily eggs were amazing!) Communication with the owners was wonderful - Neil & Ginny were such gracious hosts! Having the beach pass was an added bonus, as we visited the Kiawah beach throughout our stay. We’ll be telling everyone about Sailor’s Rest.

Lovely property!

We loved everything about this place!! Ginny and Neil were great hosts.The pool, the gardens and the fire place were great. So much creativity in one place! It was close to beaches ( the park pass was great) and about 25 minutes to downtown charleston! We would definitely stay here again.

BEAUITFUL OASIS

This home is a rare find. The accommodations are lovely and has everything you need along with small touches throughout the home to make you stay more comfortable. The artistic flare throughout the home fit perfectly for my family who are all artists. What they have outside is beyond words. Such beauty and serenity plus plenty of spaces to explore nature. My grandkids loved it. The koi fish ponds, the pool area, the secret garden and tree house & swings were favorites. The sauna and bar areas pleased all adults and the outside oven for bonfires and smore's. The gracious Hosts were available and helpful.Definitely want to go back and stay in the summer.

Paradise

We stayed at sailors rest for a long weekend. We were greeted by the sweetest sign, welcoming us. We fell in love with the place immediately. it is a natural habitat. We were in awe of the many artistic and unique outdoor venues in this setting. Jenny and Neil were amazing hosts and couldn’t have been more hospitable.

Garden of Eden

Our family had the most wonderful week long vacation at Sailor's Rest. We couldn't have ask for a more beautiful location to spend our vacation. Neil and Ginny were wonderful hosts. Our daughter absolutely loved feeding the fish, feeding the chickens and of course the pool was her favorite. They made several recommendations for places to visit and eat and they were all amazing! We would recommend this location to anyone looking for a great getaway in Charleston.

Magical Oasis

I don’t even know where to start. Absolutely amazing place to stay. Ginny and Neil were some of the sweetest people I have met. I wish I’d had more time to talk with them. The property really is a magical place from secret gardens to all the lights at night. If you are looking for a place to stay near Charleston this is your place to go. Thank you for a great week.

Feels like a tropical getaway.

Love this unique home and gardens! So many things to see on the property. The fresh eggs were delicious for a morning breakfast. The house had everything we needed and we enjoyed visiting with the on site hosts. You have to be careful exiting onto the main road as there can be heavy traffic. The house is well-off the main road, though.. Places we enjoyed visiting close by were Beachwalker Park, Angel Oak and McLeod plantation historical site.

Ginny & Neil, Thank you for sharing your home. It is such a special place and reflects the love and care you have poured into the property over the years. Heavenly Oasis

Sailor’s Rest is a dreamy oasis for RR. We loved our time there. Neil and Jinny are wonderful hosts with fascinating travel stories and they exceeded every expectation we had upon arrival. The hubby loved having fresh eggs each morning. The heated pool and sauna were lovely. The location was close to everything we needed…beach, restaurants, breweries, grocery stores. They provide guests with a pass to gain entry to Charleston County Parks which we used several times. The parks are fun for biking and Kiawah County Park on the beach is absolutely gorgeous! If downtown on the peninsula is your scene you can get there pretty easily at most times of the day. Traffic is heavy leaving the Island during normal rush hour times and lunch time. The Angel Oak, just down the street a bit, is a must if you’ve never seen it. Enjoy a little slice of paradise at Sailor’s Rest!

Peaceful paradise

This location was amazing for our family. Quiet peaceful area that had things for our kids to enjoy. From the tree house area, the pool, and the Koi pond, our kids loved every second. The kiawah beach was a fabulous spot for us to go. Not busy at all and the owners at Sailors rest have a parking pass to get into it. We loved our week in paradise that Ginny and Neil shared with us!

Wonderful vacation

The property including house and grounds are beautiful and very accurately portrayed. We had a wonderful time for our family vacation with our 6 year old. She loved the pool, the chickens, the fish, the swings and so much more. Much love to the hosts for all that they share!

Girlfriend getaway

Had an amazing stay at Sailors Rest!! They have every single amenity you could ever think of, don’t worry if you forgot something they definitely have it. Neil and Ginny are such kind host, we enjoyed talking with them. The pool was clean and so was the apartment. Would definitely recommend this private property. You will not be disappointed!

Quiet paradise

My husband and I recently stayed celebrating our (belated) 10 year wedding anniversary and it was wonderful! The area is quiet but close enough to explore your surroundings. Ginny and Neil are great hosts!! The pictures online are great but would highly recommend seeing it in person. We enjoyed ourselves and plan on returning!!!

Amazing Stay!

The outdoor space at this property is a complete oasis! We loved all of it! There are so many activities to do on property from swimming in the saltwater pool, outdoor seating for meals, fireplace with s’mores, Biergarten, activities, swings, treehouse and more - Everything is thought of for your stay! The kids also got to feed the chickens and koi fish! The owners are so kind and thoughtful and brought us fresh eggs regularly as well. The property is also centrally located in the island! Lots of local shopping, farmers makers, grocery stores, restaurants and beaches all within 10 minutes! We truly cannot say enough good things and would easily stay here again! Thanks for an amazing time! ❤️
