The Fireweed Gardens

Enter the private gardens at Fireweed Lane in Anchorage, Alaska. A two-bedroom/one-bathroom apartment with a separate entrance and all the amenities you can think of. Built in 1940, this historic Anchorage home is in the heart of Roger's Park, Anchorage's premier midtown neighborhood. Located minutes from EVERYTHING and has trail/park access in the back yard. It is nestled on a large lot with ample, serene, outdoor spaces for guests to enjoy. Steps from Chester Creek park and the expansive Anchorage trail system. The apartment is a bright 1140 square foot downstairs unit with a separate entrance and all the privacy of a single until. Enjoy the dedicated outdoor spaces including parking, a fully stocked kitchen, private laundry, fireplace, and fast Wi-Fi. A smart TV is provided for access to Netflix, Amazon, and similar accounts. It is tastefully decorated with rustic glam with an Alaskan spin. The bedrooms are equipped with blackout curtains for peaceful sleep under the midnight sun. Private guest entrance, laundry room, and patio I am always available but will not intrude. Please call or text anytime I am happy to serve. Roger's Park is centrally located but feels peaceful and secluded. Approximately 7 min to downtown, 2 min to the grocery store/coffee, 12 min to the airport. Chester Creek park with access to Anchorage's expansive trail system is in the back yard. A rental car is recommended. Anchorage has Lyft, Uber, and Taxis. An expansive trail system is steps from the door.

This was a great place to stay before a group trip. We had room to bring in lots of food and gear and prep for our trip. Nicely appointed and comfortable.

Cute, Cozy and Comfortable

This space was perfect for my aunt and I to stay while visiting family in Anchorage. It’s located in a quiet centrally located neighborhood. Beds were super comfortable; the apartment was decorated nicely and spotless. They thought of everything, including a mirror in each bedroom. The flower gardens outside were lovely, too. We'd stay here again!

Loved our stay at your property. Wished the propane tank had been filled as we hoped to cook and eat outdoors last evening.

Clean, comfortable, quiet

This lower level unit was very clean and comfortable. The host provided a well-stocked kitchen, including premium coffee. Sheets and towels were high quality as well as furnishings. Food shopping was nearby. We had a nice stay.

Nice stay

The pictures are accurate, it's a lovely place. The wifi was spotty but we weren't there too much for it to matter much. The is quiet time from 10pm til 8am understandably but being a basement apartment we could hear the neighbors upstairs.

Host was very nice, accommodating, and responded quickly. The apartment was very clean and sweetly decorated, but it is in a basement so there are steps. Heat is controlled by host, but there is an additional electric fireplace to use. Overall a very nice VRBO and experience.

Cozy Comfort

Charming two bedroom conveniently located for easy navigation to Anchorage sites of interest. Well equipped kitchen, beds you might not want to get out of, modern bath stocked with shampoo, condition, soaps and lotion..... and a fireplace to take the chill off early morniing and evening chill. Large tv with streaming services, internet access and easy smart lock entry. Plus, one of Anchorage's legendary moose population stopped by to munch on a bunch. I'd love to stay there again!

Cozy, quiet home away from home

Our second stay at Fireweed Gardens was even more pleasant than the first. The accomodations in May were warm, comfortable, well appointed, clean, with a top notch host, everything we wanted. In August, the natural landscaping was in full glory providing a sense of privacy and quiet so close to many Anchorage attractions. Planters of bright colored annuals welcome you and show another level of Lauran's appreciation of her guests. First thing on my list when planning the recent trip was reserve Fireweed Gardens. And I would again.

Fantastic stay at Fireweed Gardens

The Fireweed Gardens was the perfect spot for us. It was very comfortable for my husband, myself, and another couple traveling with us. The beds were very comfortable. All linens and towels were provided and were of good quality. The living area and kitchen were more than adequate - it was great to be able to relax and cook breakfast for ourselves. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed and more. There were condiments, essentials, and coffee! The location was perfect for us. We were very close to the Chester Creek trail which was fantastic for walking, running, and biking - absolutely beautiful! We were just around the corner from Fred Meyer for groceries as well as Walgreens, Wendy’s, and a small shopping mall. We were also only a couple of miles from downtown - an easy bike ride or a short Uber/Lyft ride. We absolutely loved visiting Anchorage and would definitely stay here again!

Private, but not quiet - Light sleeps be warned!

Private, but not quiet. Dogs upstairs jumping up and walking around before 6am. Whoever lives upstairs walked with their shoes on all morning starting at 6am. Not exactly relaxing or enjoyable after a long day of traveling into Anchorage the night before. This might be a better summer stay as the temperatures are very inconsistent in the fall/winter. It would get sweating hot one moment and then freezing the next, you have no control over the furnace heat it seems that pours into the unit, just a fireplace to increase the heat. We had to open the window at 30* just to cool it down. I know owners don’t want to scare off potential renters, but it would be nice if owners spent the time to list maybe some cons of their home, like a heavy dog living above that wakes up at 6am just above the bedroom.

It is unfortunate that this was your experience. We try our best to provide the best guest experiences and take this very seriously. I wish you had communicated about the temperature as that is a very personal preference, I assure you everything would have been done to insure your comfort. Also, this review feels retaliatory, since you were asked not to violate our only rule, no smoking in the house, denied our request and continued smoking throughout your stay. I wish this stay had been pleasurable for both of us.

Two years ago, while working as a professional in Oil and Gas, I began dreaming of building my Vacation Rental empire with uniquely, epic Alaskan experiences focused on outstanding hospitality.

I love the outdoors, travel, and adventure and these hobbies greatly influence my properties. My favorite thing about choosing to stay in vacation homes while traveling is the feeling of being apart of the community you are visiting. As a child and even today, my most cherished memories are trips taken with friends and family. I am passionate about hospitality and the role it plays in hosting memorable experiences for others.
