Water-n-Woods River Front Cabin

Relax listening to the sound of flowing water while you grill on the spacious deck overlooking the river, or by a campfire right next to the water. Wade in to fish, catch crayfish, or simply to let the water flow around you.
Our very clean 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is on the Flambeau river, with plenty of parking for boats, UTV's, etc. Besides enjoying the beautiful river way, we are located near many lakes and trails. Our spacious ranch home is in a peaceful setting remote from neighbors, yet not far from Lake Holcombe, Brunet State Park, the Blue Hills of WI, and Hayward... you will not be disappointed with all the things to explore. We love to put our kayaks in at the Thornapple Dam, and float/fish right to our back yard! We are also fans of fishing on nearby lakes, biking the paved Old Abe State trail, and the skiing/snowmobiling opportunities in the winter. If you prefer a quiet stay inside, the WiFi is strong enough for both work and recreational needs. A short drive takes you into Ladysmith for amenities, area pubs and supper clubs, or a little further drive takes you to Hayward for some quaint shopping.

The place is really nice and clean. I wish the terrain wasn’t quite so steep made it a little harder for us old farts to get to the river and back, but enjoyable once we got there. Thanks for all the help with the questions we had.

Relaxing and reconnecting

It was amazing. Quiet, clean, private, near activities, fantastic communication with host. My adult son and I went on long walks, fished, had campfires, hiked on trails nearby, went to Rusk County fair. We loved everything about this wonderful home.

Just what we needed!!

Perfect family gathering spot

Clean, modern, lovely home! Right on the flowage. Plenty of nature exploring- eagles, herons, crayfish baby sturgeon. We put in kayaks 3 mi up at thornapple dam and floated home. Grilled outside on the deck. Brought utv's and explored the area. Very few neighbors, and super quiet on weekdays. Great family fun!!

This was a prefect place for me and my siblings to commune and have a reflective time as well as a good time. With the river right there and nature all around us saw so many deer hard to keep count. I would highly reccomend a lamp in every bedroom and more places to have your guests put their belongings in the bedrooms. Thank you for offering up such a wonderful place!

Perfect firepit next to the relaxing lazy river!

Secluded, quiet, and off the beaten path. Perfect modern home with all the amenities you need for a say. Not a lot of places to eat close by, we planned to eat at the house for most of our trip. Our favorite part was time at the fire pit. The sounds of that wonderful river was so relaxing. Fish jumping, turtles feeding on the rocks, a few really cool bird sighhtings like eagles and osprey. We didn't tube or kayak but it is the perfect place for that if you have kids to entertain, especially teens. Day trips to Ladysmith and Holcombe lake were easy drives and provided a lot of cool stuff to see and do. We rented canoes at Brunet Island state park, and loved the day trip. I wished we had brought our UTV. Plenty of parking for the truck and trailer, and the area is ideally suited for UTV travel. Might come back just to bomb around the back country! Owners were very responsive. I didn't download the phone lock app before we arrived, so had some trouble getting that to work. We had to drive back to town with cell service so we could get the app so we could enter the house- do that before you arrive, there's no cell service at the cabin. Everything was wonderful!

Beautiful home nestled in the woods on calming river

Location on the river was very beautiful and relaxing Far enough away from city distractions, yet close enough to lakes, restaurants and other outside activities

Relaxing stay by the river

This house is clean, spacious and very comfortable for 2 families (6 people). The river is beautiful and serene and we enjoyed making s'mores at the fire pit. The girls had fun hunting for crayfish and frogs along the river's edge. We spent a lovely afternoon on Brunet Island exploring the hiking trails and using the paddle boards we brought along. It rained the rest of time we were there, and although we were disappointed that we did not get to go tubing (you can put in at the Thornapple dam and float to the property) we enjoyed visiting the Toad House coffee shop in Ladysmith. We hope to visit again next summer.

Pleasant stay in a quiet location

Our family stayed for 4 days in early August 2021. The house has an easy-to-use floor plan that accommodated two adults and three children aged 10-16. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The kitchen is reasonably stocked with some cooking staples at the house like salt, pepper, oil, plus a few condiments. Only thing we really missed was a pasta pot. Wifi was reliable. We did not have cell service at the house and there is not a landline -- wasn't an issue for us but something to be aware of. Parts of the house are still under construction but this didn't get in the way of us enjoying our time. Owners were responsive through VRBO site. The location is relatively remote -- we only saw a few people during the week and it was fairly quiet. There are several lakes, hiking trails and outdoor activities within a 60min drive. Ladysmith is the nearest option for groceries. There is a nice bit of frontage on the Flambeau river, in the middle of the class II rapids above Pine Island. The frontage is somewhat protected from the current so the kids had space to explore but it's not a place for swimming. The nearby launches accommodate canoes / kayaks but not motor boats unless launching by hand.

The pictures don't do it justice! Beautiful place very private! Caught huge blue catfish while bottom fishing at night and small mouth bass during the day.

Great getaway on the river

We had a great time fishing and swimming. The property is isolated and off the beaten path and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Highly recommended.
