I grew up by Sebago Lake in Maine, and my wife on the shore of southern Massachusetts, so now that we live here in the boring flatlands of central Ohio, we are always looking to stay by water on our summer vacations. We discovered the glory of Grand Bend last summer on a whim, staying at the resort down the road. We wanted a proper house for this summer's trip, and this sure fit the bill! We took our two daughters (14 and 8), and had the best vacation together we can remember. They each got to have their own bedroom, and my wife and I enjoyed the ginormous master bedroom upstairs. Slept like a rock every night to the sound of the waves and wind. Perfect weather the whole week, campfire every night, swimming every day, didn't watch TV once. I'm the cook in the family, and their kitchen was the best equipped of any rental house we've ever stayed in. There are two markets 10 minutes away in Grand Bend, an LCBO and Beer Store, Pharmacy, etc., so all the supplies anyone would need can be had close by, and just enough gift shops to keep the girls happy. :-) All the neighbors we met were extremely friendly, especially Bob next door, who is a hoot. This house comes with many extras we've never had before with beach rentals, the games in the garage, beach toys and chairs down in the shed, etc., which was a big plus. I'm slightly perplexed by the negative comments about the stairs some people have made. I will refrain from calling those people whiners (oops, I said it), but EVERY house along this stretch of shoreline has stairs. In fact, this one had the fewest of any of the houses we saw during our nightly walks up and down the beach. We went to Pinery Park one day, and there were also 30 stairs down to the beach from each of the parking areas...just the nature of the area's geography. My youngest daughter, who is deaf and has some breathing issues, had no problems with them at all. Took the family parasailing (as we did twice last year), which I highly recommend, and of course the wonderful Starlight Drive In movie theater. The only negative part of the trip was having to leave, of course. But there is always next year! I wish this site let people upload guest photos like Trip Advisor does, but I well send some to the owner for her to add here if she likes.
