This eclectic home was built in the early 80's, yet has been continually updated to keep the classic charm while still staying modern. Located 150 yards from the western edge of the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, you will have the white sand and spectacular views right at your fingertips. After sunbathing, riding the ferry to Dauphin Island, or checking out Fort Morgan, return to home base and settle in for an evening of quality time. A home-cooked meal will be easy to prepare with the full kitchen waiting to assist with all of the appliances of home. Watch the colors of the sunset reflect of of emerald gulf waters and head inside for a movie night as the stars come out. With so much fun to be had, what are you waiting for?

Location, location, location!

Steps from practically private beach! Older beach house, some new, some vintage furniture. Comfortable beds and clean. If you have trouble with steps this house is not for you. However, breathtaking views off deck.

Great view.

I’ve been staying at this property and El Pescador for several years. Long enough that Mary would actually mail you the key before your stay. She would also write thank you cards and even a Christmas card. The house was in great condition then. Now it makes me very sad. I love the beach view from the deck. I don’t like how run down it has become. Several water bugs in the bedroom. We kept our clothes zipped up in suitcases on the living room table. We also got notification on Wednesday that an inspector was coming the next day. Not exactly how you want to spend vacation. The insurance inspector was very nice. I wish this cute little home could be brought back to its original beauty.

Perfect location

This was the perfect location. Not busy, great view, etc. We really enjoyed the deck and being a little closer to town. The ac and wifi worked well for us. The home was mostly as expected given the other reviews, but unfortunately it really is in pretty bad shape. Most of it is tolerable, but the shower situation is embarrassing, unsafe and very dirty. I think this repair would help a lot of people feel better about staying here. A couple of other things worth noting: one of the chairs in the living room is broken and can't be used. The mattresses are heavily used and in pretty bad shape (think troughs where people lay). There's a lot of garbage around the house as well. If this is in your price range and you can look past some of the issues I wouldn't hesitate to stay because of the location If you are looking for a really nice house, comfortable beds and the ability to cook in a well equipped kitchen I would look elsewhere.

Week long getaway

Check in was a breeze. I knew this was an older house with some cosmetic issues when we reserved it. What we didnt count on was the broken chair no skillet broken outdoor shower, and the Cockroaches. Thats where i draw the line. They were in the bathroom and and a couple in the kitchen. When i messaged Vacas they told me to use use the spray provided and basically take care of it ourselves.. the location was beautiful and very peaceful. But overall we would not stay here again

Loved it!

What a beautiful home with spectacular views! Direct beach access, parking, washer and dryer. We LOVED the balcony/porch. It was a great vacation for two best friends and their best friends(a 150 pound Dane and a 4 pound terrier)! A wonderful time was had by all!

Ridiculous help or owners

Kitchen needs small spoons skillet and spatula. Drawer had ants in them also. Bathroom tile is broke and also had ants. I also had videos and pictures of all this. Really couldn't belive I was lied to about coming and looking at the bathroom especially since 1. My daughters foot got a small cut and 2. Everyday at least 1 person was there from my family so rhat the bathroom tile could be pointed out. They stated someone would reach out. I had one missed phone call but no voicemail or text message. But was told there was no tile outside or inside that was broke. I never said anything about the outside shower. The room straight from the deck the door is broke and the curtain is torn. Also had some big roaches. Sad because I took the time to express concerns and I was blown off and lied to. This would be a nice place if the few things were taken care of. It's a great location but will not be renting again since noone has common courtesy at this location. I've rented from this site many times and never has it been like this. Very disappointed

Location Location

Perfect stretch of beach. Cabin is better than it was over the last few years. You don’t stay here for the amenities. Wish the outside shower was working properly.

Great low-maintenance stay!

I wanted to take my senior bulldog for one last trip to the beach. We stayed three nights and it was perfect for what we needed. The location is as good as it gets.

Great location, property needs updates

Seven night stay, first two nights, no internet, no TV, no offer of compensation. A/C did work. Been staying at this property twice a year for 13 years. Great location, view, but property upkeep has slipped last few years. Needs newer bedding, sleeper sofas replaced, stove needs attention. If renters are doing damage, fix it, don't rent to them again. Damage insurance is part of rental cost? Property is up for sale now, possible only minimum done for upkeep until sold. Shame, it's a good property, when taken proper care. Fall rental prices have doubled? Pair-O-Dice may be lost for us.

Great location, but worst customer service.

If you are looking for the best view and not worry about the house and amenities. You are good. The location is amazing! Yo can walk right up the beach. As for the house itself, the internet never works, and the AC unit in the bedroom leaks. Was on the chat with the customer service everyday for 3 days, being promised someone local will contact me to resolved the problem. No one came and nothing was fixed.

Location location location

Fabulous quiet beach. Beautiful dunes. The house was very clean and just what we needed. It would however benefit from a little updating and TLC.

Getting away

We were there 9 nights- the view is amazing the home is old but was clean. Few things could be improved for a better experience but it served our purpose of getting away and not having too many neighbors.

fantastic location - property could use some work

This was a wonderful place to stay for a week with our dog. The location is perfect - very close to the beach. The deck has a gate to keep dog from wandering. The house itself could use some work, which we already knew from previous reviews. The kitchen cupboard doors are falling apart, and we found mouse droppings in the silverware drawer. There was a rat in the laundry room. We only used the master bedroom and found it comfortable, with a good view of the beach from the patio door. The patio door opened/closed with great difficulty, however. The patio door to the living room opened/closed well, so we just used that door instead. The bathroom apparently just had some trim work done, and the trim hasn't been painted, giving the room an unfinished appearance. With some attention to these details, this would be an outstanding rental.

Great Winter Trip to Ft Morgan

For a winter trip this was a good location. House needs some TLC. Older house with very few recent improvements. Whoever is performing repairs in the house needs to keep their day job!! Definitely not a professional carpenter. Most areas in the house were clean but it needs a good "deep cleaning" throughout. Spider webs on the walls in one bedroom, kitchen utensils had to be cleaned before use. Some of the kitchen drawers contain construction supplies while another had rodent droppings inside. Couldnt get the tv in the den to work. No big deal in the summer as most are on the beach most of the time but we needed it the winter. The tv in the master bedroom is a 24 inch tv, need binoculars to see it from the bed. Time to upgrade that tv for sure. A matress upgrade is needed in the master bedroom too. Sliding glass door in the master bedroom leading to the deck is in dis-repair. Has to be forced open. You can see it is worn out before ever getting in it. For a true "beach trip" this location is awesome. The walk from the house to the beach is shorter than most walks from a condo. GREAT LOCATION! House needs to be completely remodeled and soon!

Clean, great views and a hole in the floor.

Upon arrival the home looked small and very clean. We didn’t need anything large because there were just two of us. As we walked around checking out what the property had and what we would need to buy. As I walked into the bathroom I felt like I was going to fall through the floor. There was a small rug covering the damage to the floor. It appears whoever is maintaining the upkeep of this place has no clue what they are doing. The tile around the shower is all busted. This allows all the water to leak into the floor. So the floor is rotted where you enter the shower and in front of the toilet. The solution to this issue is a rug. Also the trim in the bathroom is a 1 x 2 that was installed by someone using tools for the very first time. The good is that the view from the patio is awesome and it’s close to the beach. Overall, it's a great place if you don’t need to use the bathroom or take a shower. Someone has made money on this home but has not put anything back into the property which is sad. The internet and cable went out. We called to check on an outage and were told there were no outages in the area. So being the first of them month we assumed a bill needed to be paid.

Needs serious maintenance

The location of this house can’t be beat. It’s easy to access, right across from the beach, and you can see and hear the ocean from the house. The house itself is in bad shape. We stayed last year and there were some soft spots in the floor but not bad, but there has obviously been no maintenance since then. The floor around the toilet is caving in and cracked and I was afraid I would fall through the floor. The shower had moldy tiles falling off. We saw bugs in the bathroom and kitchen. I hate to say all this because it’s such a perfect location and we love bringing our dog. But we won’t be staying in this house again until it gets the repairs it needs.

Not so much a pair-o-dice

The location of this house is great! The house itself….not so much. This house has been ignored for a long time. The worse thing about it is the bathroom is a hazard. The shower base leaks and has caused the bathroom floor to rot so much that the floor is mushy in front of the toilet. I was in fear of falling through the floor. The kitchen cabinets are missing doors and some the laminate is pealing off. The ceiling in the living room is missing section of the texture that is throughout the house. The rest of the place and beds are livable. If you are just looking for mediocre living quarters, this is the place for you.

Great location

Second time staying at this property so we pretty well knew what to expect. Older property but has it’s charm. A couple of small item: 1. New refridgator but should have door hinged to open the other way. 2. Gate at top of stairs need to have hinges fixed. 3. Railing at ramp by parking needs to be repaired. 4. Outside shower door is off it’s hinges. 5. Main shower tile is somewhat suspect and causing water to leak to the flooring. This is destroying the sub-flooring. 6. Kitchen toaster has a bad heating and only toast on one side.

5 Star View, 3 Star Home

The view and proximity to the beach are incredible, but the home is definitely lacking. My husband and I (along with our 2 pups) first stayed in this home 2 years ago. We noticed from the pictures that some updates had been made to the home, so we decided to give it another shot, mainly because of the convenient beach access. The walkway is so nice and really makes getting to the beach a breeze! During our first stay, the shower appeared to be newly tiled, but we found on this trip that several tiles were falling off and appeared moldy. Updates were also made to the flooring, but the floors were wavy and uneven. There were several soft spots that made us feel uneasy when walking through the home. The king sized bed is extremely broken in, and pretty much forces you to sink into the middle. My husband and I did not find it to be very comfy. The WiFi was decent, but we did have to reset the router a few times during our stay. The keypad stays locked even after you've entered the code. Be sure you have access to your code at all times or you will find yourself locked out! I really hate to harp on the negatives because this home has so much potential!!! The owners of this home have a prime location, but this home definitely deserves some TLC.
