First time coming to Jekyll

This was our first family trip to Jekyll and loved how laid back it was. Traffic was amazing and we were able to easily find parking. The rental was nice, but could use a deep cleaning. Other than that, it had plenty of room for our family and plenty of space to spread out, but also come together for meals. The garage is not usable as there are things stored in there. We were also very happy that someone came out to spray for ants. Whatever they used worked and we were able to enjoy time on the patio. Take note that they are all over the island, though and you will need bug spray. Although we thought we could easily access the beach from the house, several things were not in our favor. First, the steps leading down to the water needed repair. Take caution because the bottom two steps are missing. There are blue crab hanging out by the steps as well, and they were cool to look at. Also, the water was up to the rocks most of the day. You could walk early morning and late night. This didn't stop us from going about a mile down the road to a public beach and it was very nice! We enjoyed a great meal at The Beach House which was also close by and we would recommend the prime rib sandwich and burger! We would recommend that you purchase groceries elsewhere since they are overpriced at the local market. Overall, we are thankful to spend time together as a family here at 6 Ellis Lane.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your stay. We’re glad to hear that you and your family enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere of Jekyll Island and found the rental spacious for your needs. We appreciate your feedback regarding the deep cleaning and garage storage, and we will address those concerns. However, please note that repairs to beach access are managed by the local authorities. It’s great to hear that the ant treatment worked well and that you enjoyed your time on the patio. Thank you for your dining recommendations and for sharing your tips on grocery shopping! We value your insights and hope to welcome you back for another family trip in the future.

Property still needs some work

Our family of six stayed here for five days. Overall you can tell the house has been recently renovated. Furniture and art all seem new. We saw some opportunities for improvement during our stay: Cleanliness- We saw a picture of the grill in the listing so we purchased some burgers and hot dogs. There was broken glass on the back patio that my barefoot nephew almost stepped on. We found a broom and swept it out of the way. The grill was super dirty and covered in leftover food from previous use. I had to scrub it a lot to get it clean enough to use. Pests- The outside of the property is covered with tiny ants everywhere (on the patio, sidewalk and on the house). There were a number of tiny spiders in the kids rooms. We also had to kill a couple cockroaches in the main bedroom. Broken- Two the burners on the stovetop were not working. I call the property manager and someone came out to repair them the day before we left. Supplies- They did provide a couple dishwasher tabs and two rolls of toilet paper. We called to ask for more and were told we could come by the office to pick up more dishwasher tabs. They do not provide extra toilet paper. There was no soap in the bathrooms to wash your hands so we had to buy that too. Checkout- Even though there is a cleaning fee, they require you to wash, dry and put away all dishware. All floors must be swept and vacuumed. Bedding must be stripped. Failure of any of these will incur MORE cleaning fees.

Thank you for your review and feedback. This is a new rental and recently renovated and the furnishings are all new.. The stovetop was the only issue brought to our attention and was resolved timely. given the timing and nature of the repair. The grill and outside area should have been cleaned prior to your arrival, but was clearly missed. We would have been more than happy to send someone to take care of these issues had we been made aware. . We provide a starter set of supplies which we disclose in our rental terms, so this should not have been an issue. Regarding the departure instructions we have since made a change and only ask that guests dispose of the trash and load and run the dishwasher.. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely hope that you and your family enjoyed your stay at Spring Cottage.

Great location - beautiful views!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: You can't go wrong in Jekyll Island. Everything is so easy to get to that you can be anywhere in 5 minutes! The house had an excellent floorplan with 3 sitting areas. There were only 4 of us but room for more. We had a handicapped guest with us and Jekyll Island as a whole makes incredible strides for people with disabilities, even marking which spots are accessible on the map of the island. The home itself was wheelchair friendly with no steps to get inside. We had some trouble with the wheelchair in the entry path but the owners went over and above to provide a solution for us (the listing never promised wheelchair accessible so this was our oversight but they really went over and above)! Nice sized table and TV's in most rooms. Quiet and comfortable.
