Llanfyllin House was built as a wedding gift for the daughter of a prominent local businessman & politician in the late 1800's, and this beautiful 3 bedroom villa reflects the prosperity of goldrush good fortune.

Located 90 minutes from Melbourne, the residence is centrally located to all of Ballarat's major tourist attractions, vibrant food & wine scene and is surrounded by parks & nature walks. Llanfyllin House remains largely as it was when originally built and has been painstakingly furnished true to the era, providing guests an immersive, historic Ballarat experience - right down to the chickens in the backyard.

Open fireplaces in living, dining & master bedroom, luxurious French linen bedding, piano, formal dining room & sun filled deck area within fully enclosed & private backyard, suitable for pets. Walking distance to Sovereign Hill & The Gold Museum, shopping, cafe's & restaurants, parks & nature trails.

Lovely property, beautifully presented. A real taste of the bygone Victorian era with a lot of attention given to period style decor. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again for longer next time.

I would not stay there again.. most windows don’t work/open 2 airconds, only 1 operational. Radiator heaters in all rooms (nice for winter) no good for summer if 3 of them can’t turn off! (Had to turn off the boiler) fire alarm missing from insert. Bathroom, you have to duck to get into hand basin shower area. Floors in kitchen, back door and lounge area require re-stumping.. sounds like elephants in the house… everything shakes and rattles when walking through! Chickens - these are neglected, no food provided, caged, no grass area, has not been washed out with at least 1 inch excrement in their house and on the concrete.. no pellets provided for feeding them, no notes etc.. Positive - beds were nice.

Myself, my daughter and her two friends all had a wonderful stay for two nights. Beds are super comfortable and the heating kept us toasty on cold days and nights. We appreciated all the little attentions to detail and the gorgeous decor. The house is simply stunning. Lots of rooms to spread out in. Thanks for a wonderful short stay.

Quick family getaway

We had a one night stay in my old hometown of Ballarat. The house was around the corner from sovereign hill, within walking distance of a great cafe and a quick drive to supermarkets. We loved the house and all the detail! It had a very homely feel, was warm and beds very cosy. And loved the fresh eggs for breakfast!

Beautiful window into the 1800s in a stunning period Home!

We loved how Jo has eloquently styled this property to fit its era in the beautiful colonial Ballarat featuring period decor to make you feel as though you are really in sovereign Hill! It’s a perfect getaway to visit sovereign Hill and the surrounding township… we absolutely loved it and cannot wait to revisit!

Great experience-step back in time

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beds incredibly comfortable and house thoughtfully presented. It was in keeping with our visit to Sovereign Hill. Our kids learnt a lot from their stay and its historic touches.

Golden Point is Ballarat's oldest suburb and this beautiful home was built during the height of the goldrush by a prominent local businessman & politician, reflecting all the spoils that were possible as a result of the gold rush.

Having had only 3 previous owners, the home remains largely as it was originally built and has been painstakingly furnished true to the era, so that guests may have a more immersive experience of what it was like to live in Ballarat at that time - right down to the chickens in the backyard.

To ensure guest comfort, modern conveniences have not been overlooked but have been added as discretely as possible
