Our beach house and was clean and well appointed with all the amenities necessary for a week's stay. Our access to the beach was wonderful and the location of the house was perfect. We had the perfect vacation.

We enjoyed our stay! The house was very clean and the walk to the beach easy. The location is close the the grocery store and restaurants. Kitchen had all the needed utensils for cooking in a few nights as well.

Had a near beach entry or walk one drive way over and there was a public beach entry with bathrooms and life guard. House had everything we needed, clean, comfortable, and within short driving distance to any necessities needed. Will return! :)

This home was a great location. Perfect for a family to enjoy a beach experience that isn’t far from all that you need. We enjoyed our time. The reason for the 4 stars is the upstairs HVAC unit did not work and it got to be very warm at times. Other than that I have no complaints.

The house was cute, close to the beach and the kitchen was well stocked. We did have an issue with the upstairs AC unit, but once we reported the issue, Ronni, made sure to have someone come out quickly to resolve the issue. We were even offered an additional night, at no cost, for the inconvenience.

I loved the fact that we coukd take our three little furbabies with us and we had a fenced in front yard for them.The unit was older but a great deal for the money and i will stay again.I would love to rent the same place again next year.

Family reunion

The trip was fun! Easy access to the beach and the cottage is just as described. Enjoyed our evenings on the porch, within walking distance to the pier and other family members. Can’t wait to go back!

Nice

Nice location. Though it has a path to the beach it’s also super close to the public access which is easier to cross. The cottage itself is great for a family trip with everything that’s needed.

Great location!

House is a little dated, but location was good! Right on beach and near many restaurants. Only complaint is towels feel like sand paper and are way too rough. Plus fenced in area for dog is very tiny and best for a small dog not big enough for a big dog!

We have had big dogs, small dogs, and medium size dogs in this house. We have the fence for safety of our guest pets because the road is so close to this house. The fence is only about 4 feet. So I am sorry about that.

Our Founder, Dr. Sarah Forbes passed away in 2011. She was a compassionate physician, dedicated to her patients becoming Norfolk General’s first female chief resident of OB/GYN.
In 1958, she became the first female physician to open a private OB/GYN practice in Newport News, VA.
Dr. Forbes was the first woman to be selected to the board, and the first female president, of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, where she was honored as a member of the “Wall of Fame” – the first and only woman to be so honored in the club’s 65-year history.

Sarah was often honored for her contributions to the organizations she served, and the community she loved.
Among her many awards were the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities’ Humanitarian Award in 2007, and the Medallion Award which is the highest recognition presented by The Boys and Girls Club of America to volunteers.

She served as president of several community organizations that include the Virginia Peninsula Academy of Medicine, the Newport News Chapter of the American Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, and the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Her generosity benefited many organizations, including the Cancer Society, the Newport News Medical Society, the Peninsula Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Family Planning Council, First Baptist Church of Newport News, the Peninsula SPCA, Mariners’ Museum, Riverside Hospital, and Christopher Newport University.

We are continuing Dr. Forbes’ Legacy
All of our vacation homes are owned by Sarah E. Forbes MD, Trust which continues her legacy by using our profits to make regular donations to the charities she loved.
We take care of the houses like she would have wanted.
