The Space:

Neil’s Cabin is a cozy, timeless beachfront retreat—perfect for any season. Nestled on a rare stretch of beachfront near Cape Kiwanda, this classic cabin was one of the first homes built in the late ’60s when the Cape neighborhood began to take shape.



The entire west wall is lined with windows, offering panoramic ocean views from the living room, dining area and kitchen. Some say it’s one of the best views on the Oregon Coast—featuring Cape Kiwanda, Haystack Rock and even the Jug Handle is visible through the right side of “The Rock,” as locals call it. Watch the dories launch and return right from the comfort of the cabin.



Step directly from your private sand dune onto the beach and head north to explore tide pools, the steep sandy dune and the famous dory boats, or turn south for a peaceful 3½-mile walk along soft sand to the dynamic Nestucca River Bay entrance. When storms roll in, cozy up inside and enjoy front-row seats to nature’s show through the cabin’s expansive windows. The fully equipped kitchen lets you cook while taking in ocean views, and the Smart TV with Spectrum “XUMO” streaming (or your own Roku) provides easy entertainment after a day outdoors.



Just one block from Pelican Brewing, a pizza restaurant, taco spot, Kiwanda Market Place, surf shop and a small grocery, Neil’s Cabin also offers easy access to Pacific City’s center, where you’ll find taverns, shops, restaurants and a full grocery store. In summer, you can join guided dory trips for salmon, crab, halibut, lingcod and tuna; cast for Chinook salmon from August through November; or enjoy winter steelhead fishing from November through March.

The location is awesome. Besides being on the beach, it’s a short walk to coffee, brewpub, pizza and market. If your dog likes the ocean, they’ll love this cabin.

Great location. Easy walk to food and shops. Excellent beach view and steps to the beach, if you can handle a small dune . Adequate but dated kitchen and furnishings. Fireplace was closed. Grill needs cleaned or replaced. Comfortable enough for this senior couple. We would stay again.

Property was clean. Extremely rustic. No iron or ironing board to take the wrinkles out of my suitcase clothes. Had to close the blinds during the heat of the day…the cabin heated up to uncomfortable levels. Could use a fan. No place to put your suitcases. No dishwasher, so we bought paper plates and plastic silverware so we didn’t spend the entire vacation hand washing dishes. We made due but will look elsewhere in the future.

Great location on the beach very near Pelican Brewery and local shops. Perfect for a couple with a pet. Everything you need is there in the kitchen. A little challenge to go down to the beach for seniors, but that's Pacific City! Definitely a great time!

First, the ocean view is spectacular. The cabin is old and rustic but very clean. We love the location on the beach and within walking distance to food and shopping. This was a perfect accommodation for my husband, myself and our small dog due to location and furnished for comfort. The only complaint we have is that the front door was problematic. There was no key. Instead we had to use a ten digit code any time we wanted to enter. Two out of three times it did not work. While we always were able to get in eventually, it was frustrating. Two other minor complaints: the Keurig worked intermittently and the propane tank was not usable. Although there were the inconveniences I mentioned, we liked the place very much and will consider renting it again.

The view was amazing and the walk to see the surf was short. You are on a rise so access to the surf is moderate to difficult, depending on your age.The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and every manor of pot and pan.It was very dog friendly. As a cat owner, not so much. Pet usually means "dog".It was easy to find and within walking distance of a store and downtown hangouts.It is old. Rustic, but was a good value for the money. location. Location. Location.

There are 2 goods things about this property. The location is great! Wonderful view of the ocean, however it is hard to walk down to beach from back yard and even harder to get back up ( very steep sandy drop off that is about 10 feet up from the beach. Easier to walk down about 2 blocks away on the other side of Pelican brewery. Not a hotel, so no hotel noise is the other good thing. The interior of the house is not great, it looks like almost everything came from goodwill and the flooring is horrible. The place would look 10,000 times better if the owner put some money into upgrades. Plus, it says 1 bedroom and a sofa bed which is true. There is a second bedroom that is used as storage ( not sure why there isn't a twin bed in there). Also, my coffee tasted like soap even after I rinsed off the mug before using ( so I didn't use any of the other dishes).

This place is cozy and if you are a local Oregonian you will appreciate it's quaint local feel. As noted in other reviews, yes, the floors are brick but mostly covered with rugs. Yes, the fireplace is broken but you can make a fire on the beach in designated areas. And yes, it's a steep walk down to the beach, but that's Pacific City Beach for ya...it's the same from all of the beach front homes. There is no dishwasher so youve got to roll up your sleeves and do some dishes, but, you cannot beat the amazing view. The photos of the beach view on the website don't do the actual view justice. Being a local, when we go to the coast, all we want is a comfortable chair and an amazing view and this place provides this. It really has all you need and is very close to Pelican brewery.

The house was decent for what we were expecting. It had a gorgeous view of the ocean and sand dunes. The big, wide windows makes it great. There is beach access.. but its nearly impossible to get down to the beach from this point. Its so steep that my dog was unable to get back up on her own. Another odd thing, the floors were made up of bricks....literally, bricks. You can see the sand in between the bricks and it made for un level floor feel when walking around. Not a huge negative aspect but made me nervous when my mother who has poor balance was walking around. My biggest complaint though was the fact that the main reason my wife and I rented this place is because it listed and claimed it had an indoor fireplace. Upon arrival, a sign was above the fireplace saying " do not use fireplace, chimney is clogged".. oddly enough though it looked as if the fireplace had not been used in quite awhile. So i figure either the owner just never got around to having the chimney cleared....or they just do not want renters using it.... i hate to be stingy or petty, but there is nothing better than having a cozy fireplace going during winter months at the oregon coast......i would reccomend this place for anyone looking for a cheap , minimal house rental at the coast with stunning views. But unfortunately, we will probably find another home with working fireplace next winter.

My time spent there was great. Although I had alittle trouble getting the key code sent to me with text & email for the front door to get in. Kathy came by & got me into the cabin.Thankyou again Kathy for helping out.
