Jekyll realty is a great management company, however, this home smells musty and the ventilation system has mold. Our family will not stay here in the future. The pool also needs attention.

Half marathon

We were here for the Under the Oaks half marathon. The location was perfect. Everyone loved the house and the pool. The kitchen is well stocked. The only thing that I would suggest is that there be a few more bath towels provided. We would love to stay here again.

Great getaway on beautiful Jekyll Island

The pictures of the house did it justice. Coastal, casual and well equipped. Slept 3 adults and 4 kids perfectly; everyone had their own bed. Access to the pool was amazing and we were only 4 minutes to the beach at the Soccer Complex. It was our favorite as it wasn't nearly as crowded as Great Dunes. The house does need some repair (dripping faucet under kitchen sink) and main bathroom/shower/tub leaks down into laundry room. The homeowner or realty company is already aware as there were bowls and a trashcan in place already. The front entry closet needs a really good cleaning as well.

The table was filthy and the area under the covered porch had not been properly swept for quite some time. Needs new floats. They have holes in them. As far as the house, it was wonderful!

One year it's the mountains in Ashville NC and the other our beach trip to Jekyll Island. We always stay in Cumberland Cottage. We really like the location and the ammenities that the house provides us. We have given the kids the option of trying out other beaches but they always say that they love Jekyll. There is something there for all of us to do or we can just kick back and enjoy.

This beautiful home is spacious, comfortable, and well supplied in the kitchen with all you need for your stay. The pool was well maintained and a great place to cool off after a day of sight seeing or being on the beach. We love the location--away from the bustle of busier parts of the island, but a short walk or bike ride to St. Andrew's beach and other beach access points that were never crowded. There was an issue with the central air, but it was taken care of as quickly as possible with no inconvenience to us at all. We hope to stay in Cumberland Cottage in future visits!

We loved this home. It is so peaceful and beautiful and is perfect for a large family like ours. Two couples and several teens and we had room to spread out. The landscaping around the backyard is gorgeous and it feels like you are secluded from the world. Can't wait to stay again. The master bath is amazing, and all the sitting areas are wonderful. Loved having such a large selection of books to read. Pictures don't do this home justice.

Off the Beaten Path

Reviewer Comments: Away from it all:Departing in January from the frozen coast of Maine, my husband and I were delighted to arrive to bird song, white sand beaches, clay courts, open golf courses, the occasional dinner al fresco, and no ice, power outages, or snow to shovel. We love Cumberland Cottage for the sweet neighborhood, the silence, the lack of traffic, the amazing bird song early and late, the spacious kitchen, master bath and bedroom, the easy access to the historic district, and the lovely pool that for me was swimmable all but the first month of January. We (I really...) covered up all the television sets except the one in the basement, got out our bikes, birding books, tennis racquets, golf clubs, books, sketch pads, recipe books, wine from home (why is there no good wine or bread south of Savannah?), beach towels and dug in for a delightful 3 months. We biked most everywhere and only got in the car to explore off island or grocery shop. It is a rare “off the beaten path” rental in the heart of an increasingly beaten path.

GA/FL FOOTBALL WEEKEND CRASH SITE!

Yes, plenty of booze can be consumed on this annual weekend adventure, but the blur really comes from catching up with all of your FRIENDS that you only see once a year! Cumberland Cottage fit our group super well! The Master is amazing and is more than large enough to be shared with others who take longer times to get ready and need some extra mirror time! Anyway, we had five other houses full of the blur of friends that we visited with so Cumberland Cottage ended up being that nice quiet SOUTHSIDE TIP of the island that provided excellent quiet nights for needed rest after golfing, shopping, eating, and of course partying all at other Jekyll Island getaways! We will most definitely recommend this house to others and ourselves again for this GREAT weekend! GO DAWGS!

September 2022 Stay

We had a great time as always at Jekyll. The house wasn't clean when we arrived... there was trash left in the kitchen trash can, including a dirty diaper. There were a line of ants on the kitchen counter. Two shower units has clogged drains, and the one downstairs had a gecko swimming in the water after one of my showers. If you have a car you cherish, be sure to bring a car cover. Ours ended up covered in tree sap that is tough to get off. All in all, it was a great house... it just needed to be cleaned properly.

We really enjoyed the location. The pool on the property was great. There were roaches in the kitchen garbage can we brought it outside n didn't see anymore. The could spray the house. Other than that the stay was great. No complaints. The drain in the downstairs shower needs a snake. The water builds up in the bottom but these are minor things overall the place and our stay was great.

The pool puts it at the top of our list. Our 6 and 8 year old grandsons learned to swim in that pool last year and now think nothing of swimming in the deep end. There is enough gathering areas for different ages to do their own thing.

The space downstairs is great for entertaining or letting older teens have their own space. The beds are clean and comfortable. The renovations done to the master bathroom are incredible! This is our 4th stay at this cottage and will be our choice from now on! Quiet and secluded but easy access to everything on the island. 5 out of 5!

October 2020 Stay

Aside from trash being strewn across the yard and raccoon defecate being on the back porch, we had a really good stay here. The backyard was very private, and the pool was awesome. There is definitely plenty of seating. This was our family's first vacation together - we have six boys and they've never been to a pool or to the beach before, so they had a ton of fun. The house wasn't really family-friendly - there was a lot of decor around at a young child's level and bi-folding closet doors that could potentially hurt little fingers. Also, three of the four deck bulbs were out and the bulb in the lamp behind the armchair by the kitchen fireplace was out as well. None of this made our trip worse, however. We still had a great time at this house. Oh, and there is hardly any space for dry foods; there isn't a pantry and most cabinets are full. We used a part of the counter for our overflow. All-in-all, we'd definitely book this house again.

It's lovely to stay at the quieter end of the island at a house that has such charm and character. The house is well maintained with a recently updated master bathroom. The pool is private and wonderful. We will happily continue renting here as long as the owners will have us.
