Welcome to The Salty Dog, a bright and coastal-themed 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom oceanfront house on Folly Beach. This classic beach house, with a modern twist, features light and airy décor throughout. Coastal tones in both the furnishings and art highlight the real star of the show—stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Ideal for families or small groups, The Salty Dog offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.

Features:

Living Area:
A spacious and sunlit living room with expansive ocean views, comfortable seating, and a coastal theme throughout. The open-concept layout leads to a large deck, perfect for enjoying the beach views.

Kitchen:
Fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances including a refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Prepare meals while still enjoying the ocean views and access to the outdoor deck.

Bedrooms:
Primary bedroom: King-size bed with en-suite bathroom and private deck access, complete with rocking chairs for morning relaxation.
Bedroom #2: Queen-size bed, bright and airy, sharing a hallway bathroom.
Bedroom #3: Two twin beds, perfect for younger guests, sharing a hallway bathroom with Bedroom #2.

The home features two well-appointed bathrooms, including an en-suite in the primary bedroom and a shared bathroom for the other two bedrooms. Each bathroom offers fresh towels and complimentary toiletries.

The deck is connected to a private beach walkover, offering direct access to a quieter section of Folly Beach. Underneath the house, there’s covered parking, an outdoor shower, and a grilling area sheltered from the sun.

The location of The Salty Dog is excellent! The pictures on the listing are very accurate. The size was perfect for 2 adults and 3 young adult children.Be sure to bring your own kitchen dish towels as NONE are provided.

The property is in a great location and right on the beach! It’s farther down the road from the center of Folly Beach, so you'll need to drive or take a nice long walk for errands/dining, but it is incredibly convenient to everything in Folly Beach. Highlights of the property are definitely the large porch overlooking the ocean and the ability to walk down the stairs straight onto the beach! Already miss the sound of crashing waves 24 hours a day. We stayed with one other couple and an infant, and had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend this property!

This was a fabulous place to stay for a much needed vacation. House met all of our needs. Kitchen was well stocked. Bed was very comfortable. Back deck was great. Could have used a deeper cleaning.

Such a nice property!

We had such a nice stay at this lovely property on the beach! The photos on the website were very representative. The property was very clean, the towels and bed linens were crisp and fresh. The interior decor is fresh and inviting, but of course our favorite spot was the outdoor deck overlooking the beach. I would recommend this property to others.

Peaceful Paradise

It was our first time to the area and although we went into Charleston every day it was great to come back every night to the beach. It was perfect.

Relax and Enjoy the view

Out the door and 20 steps later you are on a perfect sandy beach. The house is perfect for a small group looking to relax. Plenty of comfortable seating in the family room looking out at the ocean. Wonderful balcony to feel the constant breezes and listen to the waves crashing the shore.

Perfect getaway for a couple

The master suite opens onto the Oceanside porch. Spectacular beachfront, beautiful bathrooms, great kitchen and well-appointed. (BTW, don’t bring any coffee filters. All the previous guests have left theirs for you, so there are HUNDREDS in the cabinet!) When you arrive in Folly and want to pickup your keys, the address of Dunes Properties is on your right, the south side of the street (we had a tough time figuring out which building was the correct one, it’s poorly marked.) Best to arrive in daylight all ‘round; we got here at night, and it was VERY hard to determine which house was the correct one….none of them are marked well either.There are stairs to get into the house, like all beachfront properties, so plan to haul your stuff up, up, up. The other 2 bedrooms are great; one has a queen and the other has 2 twin beds. We loved this place. Hope to return!

Beautiful ocean view and beach, but poorly kept house

I hardly ever write reviews- but...This house was not what we imagined. The views and beach, just steps off of the porch were amazing! Sadly the house was a different story. I was there with my husband, brother, and mother in law. We would've left after the first night, if we had a place to go to. It smelled horrific under the kitchen sink!! The smell filled the entire house! They sprayed alot of deodorizer to camouflage the smell, and when that wore off after a few hours of being there, we were all sick to our stomachs. There was also very visable black mold in both bathrooms- i took pictures. At night we could all hear something chewing in the walls when we were trying to sleep! The next morning my husband looked underneath the house- which is elevated- and found 3 holes where rodents chewed through the base- i took pics of as well. They also have an awful toilet seat- that has chipped and been painted in those areas- it's gross.We took many pics and sent them all to property management. They had good communication and offered to send someone out, but we all know rodents, and mold remediation, etc isn't a quick fix. So, we stuck out the next 4 nights and stayed on the beach and elsewhere as much as we could. For that amt of money- these big issues need to be resolved. Not to mention- the porch has roof rott, unsafe floor boards, and the siding is rotted towards the bottom. This house needs some serious TLC. Pictures are very deceiving bcse it looks recently renovated.

Thankfully, the guest notified us of their issue upon arrival and our team immediately offered options for remedy, including an on-site professional pest control service, but unfortunately our offer was declined and we lost the opportunity to provide a more comfortable stay. Regular preventative pest control services are a routine part of the property’s maintenance, however, due to our location on a barrier island there is a chance of encountering wildlife. Although the presence of wildlife entering the home is not common, it is possible. Thankfully, following this guest’s departure we were able to have the home professionally inspected, treated, and properly sealed bringing the issue to a close. Other maintenance items mentioned in the review have since been addressed by replacing the toilet seat and having the housekeeping team perform a deep cleaning, including removing the mildew from the air vents. We take all of our guests' concerns seriously and have a local team happy to assist in any way that we can. We are committed to providing safe, clean, and comfortable experiences for every guest and have hosted many happy vacations at the Salty Dog.

Wonderful week at Folly Beach!

We spent the week at The Salty Dog,and found the house perfect for our girl's getaway. Nicely appointed, we had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, the kitchen very well stocked, and the living room with full view of the beach was a great place to gather and visit. Most enjoyable was the porch, where we sat every morning and evening, and watched the waves and birds and weather. Conveniently located to Charleston and other area attractions, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. All four of us remarked that the place was a great find!
