Open the front door to discover the surprise of an art-filled retreat ā€” cozy, airy and visually stunning. Perched on the flank of Cambriaā€™s Park Hill, this light-filled refuge is close enough to the ocean that you can see and hear the distant waves crashing on Moonstone Beach. You are just up from Shamel Park, a few blocks from the expansive trails of Fiscalini Ranch and a 15-minute walk from the shops and restaurants of West Village. This home is ideal for a romantic weekend for two, a solo writing retreat, or a fun getaway for family and friends. The open-plan house is surrounded by green space on all sides, making it a quiet refuge with views of the ocean, pine trees, and coastal hills through the many windows. You can also see a huge expanse of stars through oversized skylights. The large deck is perfect for morning tea, afternoon reading or sunset viewing after a day of wine tasting in nearby Paso Robles or a tour of Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Each of the two small bedrooms has a queen bed and bathroom/shower. Two comfy air mattresses with linens are also available. The house is equipped with a well-stocked kitchen, a nice upright piano, WiFi, Smart Tv, many books and a stereo. This property is pet-friendly. Steep Driveway. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love this well-equipped and well-located home. It met our needs with the same minor issues as before. Driveway is really tough for cars with low ground clearance; prohibited street parking doesnā€™t provide any options. CD player was glitchy like last time, and there is a lack of storage space for luggage. None of these are issues that would keep us from coming back, just a heads up for potential guests to consider when making plans.

Great location with view of ocean! Lots of neat artwork, great choice of reading materials, games, puzzles. There was a glitch in communication-we didnā€™t receive an email with instructions, but was resolved with a phone call. We really enjoyed our stay.

Place was clean, in a good location close to the ocean. Kitchen looked recently renovated. I could have done without all the wooden masks on the walls as decor. The deck was large and appeared to have a great view.I cannot comment much more, as I didn't sleep there and only spent about 2 hours there total, although I reserved for 5 nights. I had an emergency and returned home the same night as I arrivedā€¦. bummer.

Lovely Weekend During Christmas Market

We fell in love with Ampersand the moment we arrived. The view of the ocean as soon as we entered was amazing and we knew this was a great house. We came from Christmas Market, which is an experience of its own. The house came with great accommodations. Baths are updated and the heater works very quickly. Kitchen comes with all the small appliances you need. The house decor is very eclectic with many different pieces of art and cozy furniture. The only downfall is that the mattress in the master is smaller than the bed frame and we hit our shins on the bed frame each time we got in bed. But we loved our stay and plan to return soon.

Peaceful Retreat

We found Ampersand to be a peaceful getaway for us. The weather was spectacular, the scenery beautiful, the house was comfortable and met our needs. We saw deer and turkeys on a daily basis as we enjoyed long walks. Being close to town was an added bonus. We would definitely come back! Our only complaint was there was a lot of construction noise as many neighbors were having work done on their houses. Also, we would recommend some nice blankets to use on the deck. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy this home in Cambria!

It will sleep four but there isnā€™t much storage room for luggage. As others mentioned, the driveway was steep but navigable. TV is outdated with no streaming options but there were plenty of CDā€™s and a small selection of DVDs. We will definitely stay here again!

Bad things were the very steep driveway which was difficult to both walk and drive down. Charming, great view!

Lovely and very clean. Well stocked kitchen and nice beds. The view makes this place perfect and the butterflies, wild turkeys and daily visits by a young buck in the yard puts this place over the top. Would return for sure.

The location and ocean view from the deck were stunningšŸ˜Ž The sky at night was beautiful! Lots of birds and wildlife. The beds were okay, kitchen well equipped! Our only comments would be way two many personal items left on the property including a piano. We would recommend limiting the personal items and situating the living room taking in the view with a nice flat screen tv. Still a great stsyšŸ˜Ž

Get Ready to be Wowed

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband and I stayed at Ampersand 1 week with our 2 small dogs. It was almost perfect for us. Close to the beach, nice view and privacy. No direct neighbors so it felt very private (which was great because there are a lot of windows & skylights). Nicely equipped, comfy beds and bed linens, tons of books and CD's, interesting artwork & decor (I'm gonna call it higher end hippy). The only negatives for me; 1) no yard (hillside lot) but it does have a nice deck, 2) no tub, but the primary bedroom has a very spacious shower. We did attempt to BBQ, but the Weber wouldn't get hot enough - needs a good cleaning. I didn't realize this home is only 898 square feet - you would never know it. Very well laid out. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

Clean But Cluttered

The property was very clean, but even though we had seen the pictures we did not realize how cluttered it was until we actually got there. Knick knacks and pictures everywhere. It felt like we were staying in a clean hoarderā€™s house. The queen mattress on the king bed frame left us both with a few shin bruises when getting in bed. We can say the kitchen was well stocked and, again, the house was clean. But way too claustrophobic for us.
