Det finns få ställen bättre för en vilsam, orolig oro än Washington's Lopez Island, och denna stuga är den perfekta hemmabasen när du utforskar San Juans mest sömniga. Perfekt för kajakare och båtfolk, det är bara 10 minuters promenad till Hunter Bay Public Boat Launch och Beach.

Detta tysta hem för sex är bara åtta miles från de små butikerna i Lopez Village, men de träddäckade omgivningarna ger en lugn atmosfär. Lite röra som stenvägen som leder till stugan och en loggfäst basketbåge ut bakom ger egendomen med mycket rustik charm.

Steg inuti och promenera förbi tvättstugan till vardagsrummet i slutet av hallen. Det finns mattor och välvda tak som är gjorda av samma lövträ som väggarna håller dem uppe. Härifrån, gå ut till däck för att andas in lite frisk luft, eller loungen med dina nära och kära på sektionssoffan nära vedeldad spis.

Det lilla loftet på övervåningen har en futon med en plattskärms-kabel-TV, samt en DVD-spelare och ett bibliotek. Mellan dessa och gratis WiFi (begränsad) har du gott om underhållningsalternativ.

Köket ligger bara några steg bort, med moderna apparater, underbara träkabiner och gott om motspel. Njut av dina måltider på frukostbaren för fem, eller gå ut till däck för en grill utomhus!

Lämna upp rengöring för diskmaskinen och lägg dig i sängen. Två sovrum, tillsammans med futon på övervåningen loft, tillåta sex gäster att stanna här. Sovrummet nere har en queen size-säng, med två dubbelsängar i sovrummet på övervåningen. Två badrum gör det möjligt för alla att börja dagen innan de går ut för att utforska!

Den mindre befolkade södra sidan av Lopez har en rikedom av naturlig skönhet som bara väntar på att bli utforskad. Watmough Head till sydost är en av öns bäst bevarade hemligheter, med en kort skogsväg som leder till en hisnande vik omgiven av skogar och bergformationer.

Utsikten är bara rivaliserad av Iceberg Point i sydväst - den steniga terrängen och vågorna kraschar nedan ger dramatiska landskap du får inte ofta chansen att uppleva i det verkliga livet. Vart du än går, är du bara en kort bilresa från ett läckert bakverk på Holly's Bakery.

It was a great homebase for us while we explored the island. We ate out most of the time so we didn't use the kitchen. It appeared to be stocked with anything you might need though. It was clean and comfortable. I'd stay again.

Family vacation

We loved our Chalet vacation! The house was spotlessly clean on our arrival. We loved the natural light through the skylights and windows and the lovely trees. It was very quiet and peaceful. We found everything we needed to cook dinner each night. We appreciated the reliable WiFi and the multiport USB charger. There were shelves and shelves of books, games and DVDs, and our kids had fun watching some classic cartoons on the retro VHS player! Thank you for a fun and relaxing vacation.

Is negative stars and option!?

This place is not as advertised. It is dark and there is no nature to look at just run down houses/sheds and trashy yards to look at on all sides. We did not stay! When inquired about the cleaning fee and host fee there was no conversation about a refund. Again we did not stay; place was clean enough minus trash in the yard. Very disappointing. Save your time and money.

The house was cozy and provided a great location for our family Thanksgiving getaway. The location near the Hunter Bay boat ramp was a big plus--I brought our kayaks and went out every day we were up there!

Wood-stove was nice.

We got there on a chilly fall day, and the electric baseboard heaters were slow to warm, so we fired up the wood stove, and bam....instant cozy. Cabin was clean and well-stocked. It made a nice 'base-camp' for our island bike-tour getaway. Enjoyed our stay.

Cute & Wooden

It was perfect for the three of us,(2a1k) but could work for a family of four easily. 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer, and space for us to "do our thing" respectfully. It's a dated home that was a nice change of pace. The VHS/DVD player gave us a chuckle. Plenty of books to read and games/puzzles to help pass the time. The neighborhood was quiet and the neighbors were nice. It was also nice to be away from everything on the island. It allowed us to appreciate all the farms on the island. 5 min walk to the pier for a beautiful view. Would stay again next time on Lopez.

Lovely stay!

Great space for a family, cozy and plenty and amenities. Our 3 year old was particularly excited to discover an Arthur VHS :) Our only complaint is that sound traveled really well through the house which made getting a 3 year old and 3 month old to sleep difficult….but that might have been hard no matter where we stayed.

Delightful Family Space

This cabin is everything we were looking for. Comfortable and well-stocked. We loved the books, board games, basketball hoop, and movies. Enough outdoor space to play catch. A convenient, central location to all the activities we wanted to do. Ending the day with a cozy fire in the wood stove really was the cherry on top of a lovely visit.

Management staff needs work!

Place was not clean! We were left one piece of wood for a 4 day stay. Only two laundry pods for a 4 day stay. Called the staff the first day about lack of firewood, they said it says to bring your own. I looked for that after conversation and still couldn't find it. Dish washer still broken. Not all stovetop burners work.

Cabin experience but temper your expectations

If you want a secluded night in the cabin, this house delivers. But the furnishing is old, as are the electronics. The TV is super small (imp since there's not much to do in the area). Good wifi

Absolutely beautiful setting

We loved every minute of our time on Lopez Island. The property we stayed in was cozy, nestled in a nature setting. Very quiet area. The only complaint we had, was most of the towels & wash cloths set out for us to use, and the ones in the closet were dirty. The sheets were not clean either. I had to rewash all of them before we could use them. I did leave a review for the VRBO team, but no one has contacted me regarding it. So, I advise you to look at the linens before you use them.

Great location but property is tired

Three of us senior women stayed in April 2023. We were looking for an affordable property in the San Juan Islands and this one fit the bill. Overall, it was adequate for our needs. The location was good, beds were comfy, dining table afforded a place to both eat and play cards. But the handrail going to the loft/bedroom area is rough and two of us ended up with splinters in our hands. The dishwasher soap dispenser still is broken (noted below in a 2021 review). When soap pods are put into the broken dispenser, the door closed and the water turned on, the soap dissolves and runs down the inside of the door, leaving a cement-like residue. Dishes are not getting clean. LIght bulbs everywhere were burned out. We replaced as many as we could with the existing supply. The washer was full of damp sheets and the dryer was full of a gigantic load of sheets and towels. There was a hamper full of damp towels as well. We finished all that laundry during our stay so we could do our own before we checked out. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the upstairs is very warm. This might be helped if it were possible to use the ceiling fan on the first floor but there was no way to turn it on that we could find. Another previous review mentioned the neighbor's unattractive yard which still exists but is tolerable since, at least, they were not noisy. This house needs a thorough maintenance check and my noted repairs made. It's a good rental property and deserves to be taken better care of.

Lopez stay

The house worked OK for us, it is an older home and could use a little sprucing up but overall adequate. The setting and location were fine, loved the easy access to Island activities, hiking. Would recommend a through cleaning. I would like to give an overall rating of 3.5 but am going for 4.

Very pleasant, quiet, well-equipped retreat in South Lopez

We (initially 4 adults, but in the end just one couple could come) were looking for quiet and fresh, pine-infused air, and found it here in the woods a 20-min drive away from even the comparative calm of what the owner of the Lopez bike (and kayak) rental company called "the industrial north" of Lopez! (besides the ferry, the marina and village with bike rental, grocery store, bookstore, cafe, couple of restaurants--open only weekends or only for take-out, thrift shop and museum). Our phone carrier (T-mobile) couldn't get a signal until we got about to the center of the island (near the school)--which made finding the place a little bit of a challenge, so we were glad to have an approximate printed map, too. But the Internet signal in the "chalet" was easy to access and really strong and we did not feel isolated beyond what we'd sought: we ended up talking to several neighbors about a lost dog, enjoyed a local "Little Library" stand, and were quite near a boat launch and not far from the excellent hiking/nature viewing areas on the southwest side of the island. And at night, a view from the deck of a beautiful dark clear sky startlingly studded with bounteous stars. The well-equipped chalet (games, videos and books, as well as more than ample cooking equipment and washer-dryer) made a spacious but cozy home for the three days we spent there (and wished we could have stayed a week), with its wood-burning stove to take off the day's damp fall chill (but the furnace warmed the place well), comfortable couches and chairs, and views of the surrounding woods, out the large windows. We did find the downstairs bed a little soft and wished for a larger (or additional) dresser for unpacking our clothes and somewhat brighter lamps, and the dishwasher did not work very well. But we felt glad to have the option of it there and were careful to use as little water as possible in the kitchen and bath, as we understand that the island is particularly ecologically fragile. In sum, we highly recommend this property (which we found a bargain compared to places on other San Juan islands) as well as a stay on friendly, quiet Lopez (as we'd read about, other drivers regularly wave when they pass you on the road!)
