What an awesome place to stay

The entire process was epic from 1st communication with the Host straight thru the checkout and everything in between! Nice local and wonderful atmosphere.

Great time in Crystal city

House was in excellent place very nice. Only issues we had was could not get the TVs to work and the mattresses were probably wore out. It’s like sleeping in a taco.

Nice quiet neighborhood, easy walk to beach access.

This house is very roomy and in walking distance to the beach. We did a lot of fishing so we gad plenty of parking for our friends boat and two trucks. It does need some minor maintenance to make it perfect. Carpets and stained and walls could use a fresh coat of paint but over all it was good.

Best Host Ever!

When we arrived at Chompy's there was an AC problem with the house and our host immediately came to our rescue. (This is why I did not want to rate all of the items - we weren't there long enough to honestly comment on many of the things pertaining directly to Chompy's - but I couldn't submit the review without rating all of it). He sent Lisa (the housekeeper) to help us get relocated and the new location was absolutely beautiful. The new place was gulf front and much larger and at no extra charge to us. You can feel comfortable dealing with this host. And Lisa was AMAZING! She was friendly, very helpful and made us feel like family from the get go.

Very Relaxing

We had a wonderful time! The house was very comfortable! Our host, Matt, was very responsive when we had questions. We loved the location. The kitchen had everything we needed. We would highly recommend this place and definitely plan on coming back!

Excellent for family get together

House was nice and clean. Master bedroom bed was very comfortable and I had no complaints from family about the beds in the other rooms. Good location. Far enough from highway so not much highway noise and far enough from the beach so the late night parties at the beach dont cause loss of sleep. It is walking distance from the beach...Im 60 and walked to it but I definately would prefer using a golf cart. I will definitely stay at this location again.

Amazing stay for the price!

You can’t beat this place when it comes to budgeting a fun, safe trip for your friends or family. The owner is great about communication too. We had a blast and I know my friend is looking for book here again for the spring already!

Not Clean

The house was not clean. Towels were dirty, hair in the sinks, floors were covered with sand, the place dusty and spider webs in pretty much every corner. Furniture was broken,the beds had sink holes. Reached out to the owner he said he'd send someone to clean but when my family and i returned from sightseeing five hours later the place still looked the same. Thise beds were so uncomfortable and the place so dirty we left a day early and flew back to California. We are all in our 50s so an uncomfortable night's sleep does not make for a great vacation.

Good place, would stay again

Pros: location, cable/dish TV (I forget which), great washer dryer, free detergent pods/dishwasher pods/garbage bags, softest/best 1 ply toilet paper I’ve ever used (didn’t use the good stuff we had brought), outdoor shower had hot/cold water, board games, good shower heads and water pressure Cons: cleaning staff does not turn the AC back down for the next guest, broken/missing electrical plates (somewhat concerning as we had our 2 and 5 year olds with us), the 9 is missing from the address marker x2, front left burner on the stove doesn’t work, property was a little hard to access due to a worn lockbox holding the keys Would have been nice: a book or two for beach readers, keyless entry, an ice maker in the refrigerator, a small tv in the bedrooms (master has one) Overall, a nice place that could be great with a little TLC. Would stay again. Thanks, Matt!

Great time at Chompys!

The property is great! Comfortable and spacious for the 7 people that stayed with me. It was about a 4-5 minute walk to the beach. Location is quiet. It was close to a grocery store and a restaurant that had live music! Host was communicative and replied quickly. Really enjoyed my stay and will be back!

Unclean Property Beware

I recently had a terrible experience during my stay at a VRBO property called Chompy. The host, Matt, was extremely unprofessional and repeatedly gaslighted my family and me regarding the cleanliness of the property. We even took several pictures of the property and sent them to the host to rectify the problem but he refused to acknowledge the issue. Instead, he suggested that we leave that night and receive a refund. It was evident that his only concern was filling the property with other guests and increasing the price for the 4th of July weekend. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of renting this property to be cautious as it is likely that the cleaning standards are not up to par. We even called VRBO customer service to report the issue but Matt was rude to the representative and eventually hung up. During our stay, we found dog hair and human hair in the sheets, as well as a roach, which we had to kill. When we brought these concerns to Matt's attention, he accused us of lying. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience and I would not recommend staying at this location if you want a clean experience with your family.

Very nice, but needs a deep clean

We had a great time. The owner was very nice and helpful, and the house was beautiful. However, it was very dirty. We could tell the cleaning crew had just left, because of the overwhelming smell of Lysol, but we couldn’t tell what they cleaned. There were stains all over the carpets and furniture, about 3 inches of dust on the ceiling fans and vents. Also, when I went to get a towel from the bathroom cabinet, they were all soaking wet, in both bathrooms. So the first thing i had to do was laundry. Then I had to sweep up all the dog hair from a previous guest and clean the countertops. If this house had a new cleaning crew, we would definitely return. We did have a lot of fun.

Varför värden valde detta boende

I stumbled onto this property a few years ago when a friend mentioned it to me. Once I stayed I was hooked! Hence the name Chompy's. I've caught sharks, redfish, trout, flounder, croaker, and a bunch of other fish out there but the best name I could think of was Chompy's to represent fishing in the area!
