This was my second visit to the Pleasant Hill property. It then felt like home away from home. The layout is so accomodating. Our college girl decided she would like to live there instead of the dorm. It was my husband's first visit. He loved the place and said he definitely would return. Matt and Carrie are just the nicest people that you may encounter.

What an absolute gem!

This place was a real treasure. The apartment is in the bottom story of the home with floor to ceiling windows, showcasing the beautiful creek. We bumped into Carrie & Matt as we were arriving and they were generous to rattle off a few great hiking and food recommendations - we loved these! The hosts have done everything to make their cabin cozy and welcoming. Small flashlights on the nightstands, available toiletries, firm/quality mattresses, plenty of kitchenware - we loved all the small touches. We spent hours outside on the porch reading and talking and enjoying the view. Thanks for a great weekend!

Escape in the woods

Its a perfect getaway if someone wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was a beautiful house located at the banks of lake. We wanted to visit Hocking Hills State Park and this location was just 40 mins drive from there. A perfect place to relax.

Great getaway, close to Athens and wineries

Great stay! Our old blind dog settled in easy and we were able to enjoy the weekend with our Ohio Bobcat! Well stocked kitchen, also had backup toiletries etc just in case. Pleasant Hill Winery is just down the road and Shade Winery is about 10 mins away. This was the least ‘buggy’ place we have tried in the area. Very well done and enjoyable stay.

They thought of everything!

We had a lovely experience! The apartment is in a treed area overlooking a lake

Retreat near the university

This was a wonderful home away from home in a beautiful natural setting that offered the feel of a retreat while being just a short ten minute drive too the center of the OU campus. Attentive and responsive hosts who also respect privacy, superb laundry facilities, wonderful view. Recommend without reservation!

Nive with caveat

Th property is nice. The apartment is very cozy and clean. The property is pretty. We have zero complaints about the comfort of the property. What isn't clear in the listing is that what you are renting is an apartment in the lower level of the pictured house which is also the owner's home. So while the house is comfortable, it isnt private. Had this been clear, we probably wouldn't have chosen to stay there with three rambunctious children. While the owner never complained, we were never the less constantly on guard to make sure the kids didn't make too much noise. The owners were pleasant to deal with and even cut us a break on the extra fees for having the kids. This would probably be a good place for a few adults that just need a clean place that is close to Athens.

Varför vÀrden valde detta boende

We love the beauty of southeastern Ohio as well as the diversity of culture and richness of the arts that Ohio University brings to the area. As filmmakers, we especially love the historic Athena Cinema located in downtown Athens and the Oscar qualifying Athens International Film and Video Festival (AIFVF) that takes place each April. No matter what your interest, there is something here for you.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

We rented in the Athens area for 4 years before finding this perfect house! It was built by an architecture professor at Ohio, University who worked hard to create a home for his family that was beautiful and unique. You will enjoy the privacy and beauty of nature while still being only 8 minutes to from dining and city recreation.
