Newly remodeled Parakeet cottage! Walking distance to beach, restaurants, shops!

The Parrot Nest is one of the Old-Sanibel cottages located on the quiet East End of the island. Since 1955, our charming cottages have been welcoming visitors and until the early 1960's they were brought to our shores from the mainland by ferryboat.
Our cottages are newly renovated in a coastal decor offering you epic comfort, relaxation in a beautiful room. We are within walking distance to the historic Sanibel Lighthouse and fishing pier, beautiful shelling beaches, shopping and restaurants.
If you like, use our complimentary bikes and explore miles of paths covering the island and leading to wildlife refuges, kayaking spots, secluded beaches, and meandering past more eateries, shops, and galleries. The Parakeet cottage is a charming one room with a queen and features a private patio with an outdoor dining table, chairs and umbrella.

The cottage was impeccably clean! Appreciated all the renovations. The young couple managing the place could not have been more helpful. They went out of their way to help me when I needed it. The bikes need maintenance - rusty chains, wobbly handle bars, breaks that freeze up. You could use some more kitchen tools. I was glad to have the kitchen as parking at the beaches cost so much money! Thank you, great stay. Grey

Lovely, quiet cottage near beach

Clean, cute cottage in close proximity to others but still very quiet and private. Easy walk to beach. Nice supply of beach stuff. Kitchen was adequately equipped with dishes but very little cookware. Some cooking utensils and bakeware would be a great addition, along with additional pots. Couldn’t take advantage of the stove.

Great little spot

We loved the east end of Sanibel and this place was just right. Great communication and cute little place in a great spot. We loved Wikies and all shops just a three minute walk away, as well as how quiet the area was. Lighthouse beach was easy, especially with the bikes. Buy/bring bug spray for calm wind days but overall it was wonderful.

Parrots nest

The place was great. Only negatives were an uncomfortable mattress,it wanted to curl up on the edges as we moved around, and you had to stand strategically in the shower to keep water off the floor from the gap in the door.

1st time in Sanibel it was perfect

Beautiful sunset, beautiful weather Will go back again and Parrots Nest was the perfect place to stay. Within walking distance to so much and renting a Moke to cruise around in was icing on the cake

Clean and great location.

This was a great location, 15 minute walk to the Lighthouse beach. Near coffee/ice cream and our favorite restaurant Grandma Dot’s. The bed was comfortable. It was also very clean. Our only complaints were the laundry wasn’t working and the kitchen supplies could have been better. We would stay here again for sure.

Do it!

If you’re thinking about staying here, do it. It’s such a fantastic property, close to everything, and the staff are all so friendly. Take it from us though: walk around the property! They have a ton of beach stuff that we didn’t see until we were leaving, lol. Great stay and can’t wait to come back :)

Tiny Cottage

The cottage is cute and clean. Bed was very comfortable! We enjoyed the general area and ease of getting to areas of interest. Nice restaurants and shops nearby, but not close enough (for us) to walk. The beach is a 2 min drive away, so convenient. We will be back!

Great Get Away

This little cottage had everything we needed for our stay. It is in the perfect location on Sanibel Island as well. We used the complimentary bikes to ride around, got to know the island and visit the beaches. I highly recommend this little gem. The restaurants and stores nearby also do not disappoint. I highly recommend and will stay here again!

Great location and super clean! It was quaint we loved the private patio, use of beach carts, towels, and chairs. An ice cream store next door- score!! The beds are comfortable. We will visit again!!

40th Anniversary

We chose Sanibel for our 40th Anniversary trip and we were so happy to find your little cottage. It was perfect for the two of us. Thank you for all the shells that we found on your beautiful beaches! The people on the island were friendly and the restaurants were delicious!

The Parakeet cottage # 6 provided all the essentials for a quick get away to decompress for myself and the hubby. Providing bikes and beach carts is genius!

Parakeet Cottage #6

My husband and I booked this property very last minute. In preparation for the one-night stay, I was reading all of the reviews I could find online and ran across one from just one month previous, which was very negative. I emailed the property manager with my concern and she responded immediately. The small, efficiency cottage was just what we needed for our brief stay. We used the bicycles provided to explore the entire island, biking 25 miles total. This is perfect for an island getaway where you spend most of your time outdoors. My only feedback would be that the bed wasn’t very comfortable. We would not have been happy spending more than one night in it, but…we are also spoiled by our Tempur-pedic mattress at home. Everything was clean and we walked to breakfast at the Lighthouse Cafe in the morning.

Clean house, close walk to the beach. What would have made it great would be to replace the dresser with a couch. No where comfortable to sit. And a few more dishes in kitchen would be nice. But overall good experience
