Part of what makes the travel experience so special and unique are the stories of the travelers and hosts that you encounter along the way. As I’ve always enjoyed hearing the stories of others, I wanted to share my own and how it has brought me to here and Airbnb in the first place.
It all started by traveling with my daughter Helen since 2013. Throughout the years, we have been to Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta Mexico, New York, Boston, Rhode Island, Cape Cod, Tampa, Cabo San Lucas Mexico, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite …. Helen often books our lodge through Airbnb or VRBO. Every time we had a different and unique lodging experience that added to our travel memories, not to mention the savings we enjoyed. 2015 I set up my own account and started booking for my own trips.
June 2016, I was at Phoenix, AZ as Dr. Michael’s very first guest. In the evening when the weather was not too hot, Dr. Michael and I went for a long walk and chatted on different topics. Naturally it brought to hosting and why he chose to host. He turned around asking me “Why don’t you host?”. Good question! Why don’t I? I decided to give it a try. More than six years have passed. I am very happy that I did give it a try and continue to try it. I met many interesting people and supplemented my retirement income.
With that extra income, I have had my home renovated inside and out. New appliances, wood floor, paint, better furniture … I want to make sure my guests have a safe, amazing experience during their stay. Most of my guests are very supportive and positive, I truly appreciate that.
By now I have hosted more than 450 guests from all over the US, Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, England, France, Sweden, Russia, India, Mexico, Canada, Iraq and China.
Having retired from the Bio-tech research field and empty-nested, I started my 2nd career in real estate, as a licensed real estate professional and part-time property manager.
I believe “you should treat others the way you want to be treated”.
