Detta Ă€r en hĂ€rlig, elegant och tyst lĂ€genhet, totalrenoverad med centralvĂ€rme, central AC (har precis installerat ett system pĂ„ 10 000 dollar!) och med nya apparater, i hjĂ€rtat av Florens. Ja, 7 min. gĂ„ frĂ„n Ponte Vecchio pĂ„ floden Arno, och du kommer att vara sĂ„, sĂ„ glad att du inte bor mitt i mobs av turister och selfie-stick leverantörer. Oltrarno Ă€r överlĂ€gset det bĂ€sta, minst turistiska omrĂ„det. Vi Ă€r pĂ„ Via Romana 29, 50 meter frĂ„n ingĂ„ngen till Boboli Gardens, intill Pitti Palace. Du hittar ett fantastiskt Yamaha C2-piano, det snabbaste Wi-Fi-internet i Italien, en ny SMART-TV med DVD- och VHS-spelare och ett nytt SONY ljudsystem som gör att du kan spela din egen musik via Bluetooth frĂ„n din mobiltelefon eller en USB-kontakt. Åh, Wi-Fi Ă€r gratis!

Min fru och jag kom till Italien 1973, nÀr jag började arbeta som fotograf. VÄr pianist / kompositör son, William, som föddes och uppvuxen i Italien bodde i denna lÀgenhet ett par Är innan han bestÀmde sig för att söka sin förmögenhet tillbaka i USA.

Florens behöver ingen introduktion. Det rÀcker med att sÀga att Unesco (FN: s kulturgren) gjorde en undersökning för 15 Är sedan som förklarade att 60% av vÀrldens konstnÀrliga arv Àr pÄ italiensk mark. 30% av det Àr bara i Florens. Men om det inte rÀcker för att kittla din fantasi, kom ihÄg Chianti vingÄrdar inom 30 min. köra, stÀderna Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano, Arezzo och Pisa, strÀnderna i Viareggio och Maremma, alla enkla bilar pÄ utmÀrkta vÀgar. Florens Àr bara en 90 min. tÄgresa frÄn Rom pÄ höghastighetstÄg och Umbrien Àr regionen strax söder om Toscana. SÄ inom tvÄ timmar kan du nÄ Perugia, Spoleto, Assisi och den magiska staden Todi, dÀr vi ocksÄ hyr ett hem (se Listning 247510).

George is a wonderful and thoughtful host. Communication with him was very easy using Whatsapp. The apartment is very nice and comfortable. It even has a grand piano that my son played. The location is across the river in a quieter part of the city, but is an easy walk to most of the city. We will definitely stay here again if we visit Florence.

Grand piano in the heart of Florence

This flat is located in a great location for walking to popular tourists destinations. Returning from outings for rest, a cup of tea/caffe and playing the piano was very comforting indeed.

Awesome location and nice digs for your stay in Florence.

This was our second rental in Italy on a European adventure. We loved this apartment. The stairs are a significant workout but that's healthy! There were fresh flowers, a wide range of books, easy and pretty speedy wi-fi, a kitchen with all you might need to cook (we chose not to) comfortable beds and a storage room that made it easy for drying the laundry and storing our suitcases outside the rooms. It is an excellent location, walking distance to the beautiful Boboli Gardens, Ponte Vecchio, and the Doumo. Check in was smooth, good communication from the owner and even extras like a bottle of wine for us! I highly recommend this VRBO for your stay in Florence.

Perfect apartment, location and host!

The apartment was exactly what I was looking for in my stop in Florence on my first trip (definitely not my last) to Italy. It was extremely clean, comfortable, cozy, very quiet, and in a charming local neighborhood. You are just blocks away from Boboli Gardens and less than a five minute walk from the Pitti Palace. It is a quick, easy walk across the river to all the other major attractions in Florence. And George (your host), could not have been more helpful and exceptionally quick answering any and all questions and offering great advice on restaurants, things to do/see and recommended the best personal guide named Beatrice. Lastly, as a solo traveler, safety was a high priority for me and I felt very safe and secure in this apartment and the area overall – even walking around in the evening returning just after dark from dinner or events. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend.

Legendary host

Words cannot express my gratitude to George: his guidance, care and attention allowed us to make the most of our very short stay in Florence. The apartment location is out of a movie: it is at once local and intimate and yet is a short walk to the Ponte Vecchio; it is literally around the corner from a side entrance to the Boboli Gardens; Florence Pride took place in front of the guest bedroom--a great surprise! (I read that the road on which the apt is located is built on the original Roman road that formed the foundation of Florence as a settlement...) George pulled out all the stops to make our stay smooth in a minefield of potential chaos: he found a spot for me to park my rental for free and he even arrange for a(n extremely) punctual 4:45am taxi pickup (note to self and other tourists: AVOID DRIVING IN FLORENCE; WE REALLY SHOULD NOT BE DOING IT!). George is one of those people out there who is a pure expression of kindness, guiding travelers gently around potential dangers and asking for almost nothing in return. Be kind to this place and to George.

George is an impeccable host who clearly cares about his guests’ successful stay in Florence. He reached out shortly after I made our booking and helped with trip-planning prior to our arrival; we travelled with a complete feeling of security that our arrival and check-in would go well, and it did. The apartment itself is a gem with bedding, bathrooms, heating and washing machine in excellent order, and also genuinely a comfortable and substantial home, with evidence everywhere of the professional artistic interests of its owner and his family. Also a special mention for the kitchen which is kitted out with sufficient pots, strainers, ladles, thin-lipped wine glasses, nice-quality cutlery to cook and serve a beautiful meal in comfort. We also loved the location, well away from the tourist zone (heaving even in February), but readily walkable to just about everything a visitor is likely to want to see. Of the neighbourhood shops, we especially liked the pescheria just beyond the porta, Botteghe Fornaio on via sant’Agostino for daily bread and Pitti Express just opposite the apartment where a cheerful and friendly trio provided delicious inexpensive sandwiches throughout the day. Just to note that this location is not suitable for a traveller with mobility issues or heavy luggage. The climb to the apartment provided a good work-out even for this relatively fit user and there is no alternative to the stairs.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this cozy home. We had everything we needed for us and our kids, for cooking our breakfast and lunch. My daughter really enjoyed playing the piano. Everything was so close by we would go out in the morning for an outing and return to rest at midday and go back out again. The neighborhood nearby was very charming and friendly. There was a farmers market on Sunday a couple blocks away which was a nice treat for us. We would highly recommend!

Beautiful apartment, ideal location in Florence

This apartment is very spacious, comfortable, quiet, and in an ideal area of Florence - away from the high traffic touristy areas, but a stone's throw from great restaurants, nightlife and tons of little shops and galleries. It was a short walk to anything we wanted to see. Our teenage musician really enjoyed making use of the piano in the apartment. Thanks George for your hospitality! We will definitely be recommending this property for any friends visiting Florence.

Perfect Apartment

Rustic charm

We really enjoyed our time in Florence. The apartment is in a fantastic location just down the street from the Pitti Palace. There are supermarkets and restaurants very close by. The apartment is very similar to the photographs, but there is a table in the living area now which does make the space feel small (although I think for people that are cooking for themselves, the table is a welcome addition). The place feels well loved, it's very rustic. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. It was very hot when we were there and the air con in the bedrooms allowed us to sleep well at night. We found that the air con in the living area couldn't cool us down enough so that was quite difficult. George is a fantastic host - he was fabulous at communicating with us and was incredibly helpful when it came to finding a park for our car. We have been travelling in Europe for 7 weeks and have stayed in a lot of different apartments and this is the first one where we have had the electric metre monitored and then had to pay an additional charge for using electricity. We are not a fan of that system. Overall, George is a wonderful host, the apartment is in a great location but it wasn't quite our cup of tea.

Walk everywhere quickly, Attentive Hosts

George and Lynn went out of their way to see that we were comfortable and felt Florentine for the week. The location could not be better for experiencing classic destinations but still being in an authentic residential setting. We were joined by our two adult children but this would be an equally good spot for a couple.

Vacation Like You Live in Florence!

Located in a lovely neighborhood, away from the noise and crowds, our apartment had all of the things we needed to feel at home. George, our host was very responsive to all requests and questions. With a two week stay, we were able to cook in the well-stocked kitchen instead of going out all the time which was great. I cooked a lot. Our family of three adults enjoyed the comfort of A/C in both bedrooms AND living room. Great laundromat located next door with washers AND dryers!! We truly enjoyed our stay!

A Really Great Apartment In Just the Right Spot

We stayed in the apartment for 9 days. This apartment was fantastic from the moving-in to moving-out day. It is perfectly situated, just outside the hubbub of Centro but close enough to so that it’s an easy walk. Plus, there is so much to do in Oltrarno we ended up spending most of our time in the Santo Spirito and San Frediano neighborhoods. The apartment itself is nicely laid out, especially if a second bedroom is appropriate. Everything worked, everything was clean, there were more than enough dishes, cutlery and cooking supplies. Even the washing machine worked, which in our experience In Europe isn’t always a given. George met us at the apartment and stayed in touch with us via Whatsapp the whole time, making sure everything was just right. He definitely was not an absentee landlord. My only regret is that I had to leave.

My wife, Lynn, and I moved to Italy way back in 1973 after graduating from Beloit
College in Wisconsin, where we met. I'm a photographer (George Tatge Photographer, Firenze Italy) and Lynn teaches English.
We bought this apartment for our two children William and Alice, but they have
chosen to seek their fortunes elsewhere. William, a pianist and composer, lives in NYC
and Alice, a dancer and choreographer, lives in London.

Varför vÀrden valde detta boende

This is a particularly choice location. It is only 100 yards from the Pitti Palace and Boboli
Gardens and on the Oltrarno side of the river, a neighborhood much less touristy and full of
artisans workshops and markets. Still, it's only a 7 min. walk to the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno River.

It is a spacious and quiet apartment, completely refurbished with all the amenities, including a great collection of books (with good reading lights!), music, a Yamaha C2 piano, and VHSs and DVDs in English for your evening entertainment.
