Welcome to The A-Frame experience. This is not a home. It is an encompassing experience of a stunning nautical dream home and a getaway to a Michigan landmark. A specialty property that doubles as a historic landmark of downtown Saugatuck and Lake Kalamazoo, built originally in the 1950s, it remains “the” iconic A Frame in Saugatuck/Douglas. True to timeframe, it is uniquely positioned very close to water where indoor expansive views are boat-like. In preserving its historic nature, it remains less than 15 feet from the water’s edge. This property has been fully rebuilt, lifted, and renovated in 2022, preserving the original roofline, yet expanding with interior bedrooms, lofts, and luxury modern home amenities throughout. The entire waterfront of the a-frame is a wall of windows with expansive unrivaled views of the water and downtown Saugatuck. Exclusive amenities include the only rental home in Saugatuck with a rooftop deck veranda, natural gas outdoor firepit, and luxury jacuzzi overlooking the skyline. During holiday celebrations, panoramic firework views are unrivaled, launched only feet away.

The unique a-frame kitchen and gourmet kitchen is poised for entertaining. With Kitchenaid appliances, stone counters, center work island that doubles as a dining table, and views on the water. From gathering around the island for late night snacks to indulging in a feast, this is a special space to show love through food. Outdoor cooking experiences are enabled through a natural gas grill positioned next to outdoor seating and jacuzzi amenities.

At the pinnacle of a summer vacation, the a-frame provides a waterfront dock for a nominal fee for mooring of a renter-provided boat (launched via nearby locations), or casual access to water for kayaking or paddle-boarding. Access to public docks downtown Saugatuck are freely available for ease of access to downtown (via boat). A short walk to the chain-ferry can provide immediate access to downtown on foot.

The a-frame is a truly memorable experience, providing the best views, amenities, and historical significance that will make any Saugatuck trip unrivaled and memorable. This is ‘the a-frame’ of Saugatuck.

Lovely weekend getaway

Great family stay

This was a uniquely beautiful and well kept property. Property owner was very responsive, and checked-in during our stay. Check-in process was easy. Located on the water and was beautiful for a December stay. Hot tub was such a treat! We will return in the summer and recommend this property.

Great getaway

Fantastic Stay

Beautiful home, excellent amenities, comfortable stay. This home is located right in the lake and is equipped with everything you need. Beds are comfortable and we especially loved the hot tub looking out onto the lake. Great stay, can’t wait to visit again!

Weekend Getaway

My husband and I absolutely adore this A frame. It’s impeccably clean and very comfortable. We ended up having a free weekend last minute so I took a shot and contacted the property owner. Not only did she reply quickly, she was graciously able to accommodate our last minute request! We had an amazing weekend in Saugatuk and look forward to returning!

A+ for the Saugatuck A-frame

Quick weekend getaway to close out the summer with our family of four. The home was spectacular. Right on the water with views of downtown Saugatuck. The house has a wonderful and unique layout that we really enjoyed. Great to sit outside in the morning for coffee. We had a great time.

Awesome house and perfect location.

This is the coolest house in the areas and really stands outs. The views are amazing. The house has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and was perfectly clean. Locations is perfect with walking distances to mount baldhead or oval beach (little further of a walk) or a quick ferry ride across to down. We had our school age boys with us and they loved the experience as much as the adults. We'll be back!

Quick Spring Getaway

This was one of the most impressive properties that I have stayed at. Our host was very responsive and open to requests. She had some great local coffee stocked when I inquired about it. The local bottle of red wine was another great touch. The photos of the property are very accurate but you can't truly appreciate how close to the water you are until you are on site, it really is only 15 ft away so you feel like you're right on top of the lake. I live on a lake so I'm not that easily impressed.We did not use the fire pit but having the hot tub outside to relax in during the evening was great, especially since the weather was cooler. You have great views over the lake and into saugatuck. I give this rental highest marks across the board, a definite recommendation for any considering it.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway!

Fantastic property with easy access to downtown Saugatuck! We were able to catch the chain ferry to downtown easily and avoid the hassles of parking. The property had great beds, all the kitchen supplies and ample gathering areas to make the most of the property. Would absolutely recommend!

Book it!

Beautifully restored A-Frame with great fit and finish. Pictures are spot on and location can’t be beat. We sat on the deck and watched the boats go by and enjoyed Fourth of July fireworks! Kids loved the hot tub and it was easy to catch the chain link ferry to downtown. We walked to the beach through the wooded path and enjoyed all the beautiful area had to offer. Great stay! We would definitely stay here again!

Great Stay

Erica’s A-Frame was an amazing property in a prime location for summer Saugatuck fun. We were within easy walking distance to the chain ferry to downtown and Mount Baldhead park. There was ample parking for our four cars and a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces that let everyone enjoy their time. The home was very clean and well-decorated, with a fully-stocked kitchen for cooking. Erica was a very accommodating host and easy to work with through a few scheduling and location changes.

Our family has been visiting the Saugatuck/Douglas, Michigan area most of our life. We hold a million sepia-colored memories in our heads. As Chicagolanders, we escape suburbia for the dunes, beaches, and woodlands of the Lake Michigan shoreline every chance we get.

We enjoy the area so much that I thought others should too. At a time when the town was still quiet and homey, I started on a journey of building true vacation destinations that are unique from anything you would find in suburbia, true cabins that drive relaxation and escape.

With no appetite for owning or managing rundown, churn-n-burn properties, we prefer to focus on high-end vacation homes with incredible amenities. In order to deliver value to our guests, the properties themselves became more than places to stay, they became experiences. Providing an experience is a combination of a unique property, different than anything our guests have at home, quality in-house amenities, unique exterior amenities such as location, and on-property activities such as jacuzzi, pools, and fire features. Finally, the experience is topped off with special treatment and high-attention from the management company (quite literally, us).

Someone once told me, “After kids, you don’t go on vacation. You visit places.” I didn’t want that for Lakewood Lux. I wanted to make each property family-friendly with the comforts of home. We splurge on high-end items like kitchen appliances, pots and pans, serveware, linens and towels to ensure a guest experience that is like or better than home. Then, we make sure all the amenities are maintained by professionals. Folks work hard to earn their vacations, and I wanted to ensure their visits were pleasantly clean, comfortable, and fun, because that’s what I would want.
