The main floor will be the hub for entertaining with plush furnishings, a cozy gas fireplace, and eclectic touches of a quaint cottage that will make everyone feel at home. Head into the full kitchen and you will find a gas range, dishwasher, and all of the utensils need to whip up tasty meals for the whole gang. A dining nook awaits adjacent to the kitchen, yet more formal meals can also be enjoyed at the dining table! Plus, the lower floor is home to the laundry room, so don't worry about dirty clothes on this trip.

Sitting right on the shore of the Kalamazoo River, you will have no problem getting out on the water to fish, swim, boat, and more! If you want to spend warm summer days on the sand with a good book in hand, Oval Beach is less than a mile away offering stunning views of Lake Michigan. When it is time to grab a bite to eat, stock up on groceries, or check out the charming shops in town, the main drag of Saugatuck is two miles away. Plus, you will be within walking distance of Mt. Old time Lake Cabin in a fabulous location

Very Clean and comfortable. Love the front porch. It’s an old cabin in the woods without A/C. Manage your expectations! We really enjoyed it and took advantage of the trails. Chain ferry is unreliable but we were able to use it. My son caught fish across the street. We loved Moosah coffee and the area hiking and amenities.

LOVED: > location (although hidden driveway requires astute attention to find, especially at night. Perhaps erect entry post with large block house numbers '444' to be more visible) > Front porch (though screens could use a serious cleaning) DIDN'T LOVE: > internal household heat (although warned in advance; plenty of fans to move air. Great place

Quaint home

Beautiful home right across from the chain ferry, within walking distance from Oval Beach and "the steps" overlooking Saugatuck . It has a great screened front porch, plenty of places to sleep with amazing views, and free wifi. My group will definitely book again.

Great location!

Great location making it easy to get around. We were worried about not having AC, but house quickly cooled off after opening windows and turning on fans. Lots of character to home and layout was perfect for extended family vacation.

Lovely home

We just loved our time at Anna’s Cottage. It was spacious, warm and welcoming. The windows (and views!) are gorgeous and we loved the photo of the same porch we sat on from the early 1900s. Located across the street from the Chain Ferry and within walking distance to Mt. Baldhead and Oval Beach, the location is perfect. Highly recommend!

Best of a historical cottage with many modern conveniences

Great on fall nights

We had a great stay at Anna’s cottage! The porch was a perfect place to hang out on the cooler nights. The rooms were a little tight but it is necessary to fit everyone in there! We loved that we could open the windows and hear the music across the river. This place would be perfect during peak season, but unfortunately the chain ferry that runs directly across from the house doesn’t run after labor day. However, the Interurban ended up being the perfect transportation for us! Overall a great stay with clear clean up instructions!

PERFECT!

Story book cottage

We had a family wedding and it was perfect for having a few of my family members for dinner. It’s comfortable and cozy, yet plenty of room to never feel crowded. Well stocked towels and kitchen utensils. We enjoyed the screened porch. Beach is a short distance away. Definitely going to rent again.

Terrific Cottage

The property sits on the Kalamazoo River with an elevated screen porch perfect for watching the boat traffic. The cottage is a short ride to Oval Beach. It is a very traditional three season cottage that is clean and beautifully decorated. Short drive to Saugatuck or quick Chain Ferry ride (if it is open).

A lovely weekend

Located right across the river from downtown Saugatuck. You'll need to drive around to get there though :) It's a great location to sit on the screened porch and listen to the music across the water. Very spacious place. Lots of sleeping but one bathroom; bigger groups will need to coordinate accordingly. Lovely time of year to go, No AC but short walls allow air to move freely in the upper bedroom space. Kitchen is large and has pretty much you'll need. Everything was as expected. We had a great time!

Charming Victorian, but not for people who like new and shiny!

Anna‘s cottage was perfect for this mom and two adult daughters who loved the energy of this family cottage and appreciated its untouched beauty. Its location was perfect as one could walk to the beach. Weekend bar noise is to be expected. The second bathroom is in the basement which we did not use, so a full house might be a bit crowded. You can hear each other through the open ceilings in the second floor, but that was part of its charm for us! Early June temperatures were perfect although I can see it might get hot in the summer without AC. We loved the front porch and the comfy furniture and the kitchen had everything we needed. We’ll be back! Thank you to the owners for sharing their family heritage.

Location, Character, and Clean

This home was in the perfect setting on the quiet side of Saugatuck. Not having to worry about parking was nice and to travel over to all of the shopping on the chain ferry was so fun! The house is right next to a 1 mile trail that takes your right to Oval beach. The character of this house is endless and has everything you need. A room downstairs for our parents to sleep in and plenty of space upstairs for us and an entire room dedicated to our clothes! Haha Only reason I gave a 4 is because the house doesn't have air conditioning. It got pretty hot throughout the day.

Cute riverside cottage

We had a great stay at Anna's cottage. The place was larger than we expected. The highlight was definitely evenings and meals spent on the porch! We enjoyed boat watching on the river and the fans and screens made the porch very pleasant even during the heatwave. Important note: despite the listing info, the house itself is not air conditioned. It got very warm in the house, so we did not spend much time indoors. The house is equipped with lots and lots of windows, ceiling fans, and other fans. However, we would highly recommend bringing extra fans. Another heads up, the walk to oval beach is closer to 15 mins including a pretty steep uphill and on a well-used road (no sidewalks). Totally doable, but definitely plan on driving if you want to bring a lot of stuff or have any mobility problems. Overall would highly recommend!

Cute old house needs better management

This house does not have air conditioning or heat. The listing is not accurate. We learned this on our way and the management company’s solution was a box fan. Nearly impossible to temperature control. Our family of 4 ended up sleeping in 1 room with two twin beds. Not ideal or comfortable. If you have allergies, forget it. The glass in the windows appears original, but it has holes and breaks in them. Which means insects. We even found bugs in the bed! The second bathroom is in the basement in the laundry room. Nothing else is in the basement. The house also smells awful because the floor is rotting out and mold/mildew ridden from leaks in the bathroom. The three “bedrooms” upstairs are open tops and have no doors. The stair rail is unsafe for children as it is very short and the spindles are 2 feet apart. So not ideal for children unless older or an infant that cannot roll yet. The positives are the screened in porch where you can watch the boats. We spent almost all the time on the porch to avoid the heat and stench inside the house. The history of the house and family are somewhat on display which makes it very interesting. I can see so many memories for them happened in the house. I hope they find a better management company before this one destroys the home with their apathy for its history.

Lovely vacation spot

We always enjoy Saugatuck in the Fall and this trip was exceptional. Our home away from home choice truly added to the experience. Because of being elderly, we did find all the stairs daunting. And the toilet in the main bathroom definitely needs to be higher. However I would still give this cottage a 5 star review. It was charming and we absolutely loved the screened porch overlooking the river.

Beautiful cottage full of charm!

We loved the screen porch the most, playing games in the evening and enjoying coffee in the morning watching the boats go by. The cottage is a unique blend of a historical family cottage and an upgraded newer home. Specifically, the juxtaposition of the modern kitchen's convenience and the claw foot tub and exposed rafters beaconing back to times gone bye. There is a palpable sense of historical connection with the area that feels like a privilege to be permitted to share in. Thank you for sharing this lovely place through Vacas! We plan to come for another stay in the future, such a great place!

Perfect location for a beach getaway in Michigan

This spacious yet cozy cottage is situated perfectly across the dock of the Kalamazoo River, just a foot-ferry away from historic downtown Saugatuck, and right around the corner from Oval Beach. It's also feet away from 1 Adventure Company, where you can rent pontoons and other boats to go out exploring. My family and I adored the screened in porch most, as we enjoyed the cool breeze and river views. The upstairs bedrooms are also particularly charming, but a little warm in the summer (there's no air conditioning). It's a beautiful home in which to explore Saugatuck and the surrounding areas!
