Mount Airy, NC is not your typical small town. We are the basis for the Mayberry culture that was portrayed on “The Andy Griffith Show.” We are a family-oriented town that is still living a slow-paced lifestyle. Our home is approximately 6 miles from the downtown area. Downtown Mount Airy has lots of tasty restaurants, Andy Griffith memorabilia shops & a museum, a candy store, a toy store, a couple of low-key breweries, an amphitheater, a retro movie theater, clothing boutiques, coffee shops, bakeries, and more! Check out the beautiful mountain scenery with a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The closest entrance to the parkway is about a 20-minute drive from the house. Being in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, there are lots of outdoor opportunities around Mount Airy. A few activities are hiking at Pilot Mountain, Hanging Rock, or Stone Mountain, kayaking along the Yadkin or Dan River, and visiting the Mount Airy parks or greenway.
