Our beautiful home is located in the NO WAKE ZONE on the Intercoastal Waterway! In front you will find our boat dock ready for your arrival, for days of fishing and taking in the views after all of your boating adventures. A charming southern porch overlooks a wide spacious and playful front yard with views of Isle of Palms and all the passing boats. Behind our home is a large back yard and a tropical path that will lead you to the Grey Bay, where you can wade in the high tide, splash, fish, or float! When the timely tide recedes, walk, run, and play on the private beach behind Goat Island. The tide changes every six hours+/- !!! Our home features SUNRISES out front! - SUNSETS out back!
You will NEED a BOAT to get here! Dock your boat right out front of your vacation home! If you do not have a boat, no worries! We will provide transportation to the island for your arrival and back to the mainland upon check out. You are also welcome to rent a boat from the Isle of Palms Marina which is a VERY short boat ride away. You will need to arrange parking at the Isle of Palms Marina upon your arrival as well.
Our home is fully equipped for your vacation retreat. Outdoor Grill- Outdoor fryer-Outdoor tables are available for your use both on the front porch and out on the dock!
As you walk up the steps you'll be welcomed by our large front porch with a lazy porch swing and several rockers to enjoy the coastal breezes. Enjoy your morning coffee watching the birds and the sun rising over the intercoastal or take a nap to the sounds of the water.
Enter the Great Room on the first floor which features a 55" TV, two comfy sofas and a lounge chair with ottoman. Open the sliding glass doors and enjoy the coastal breeze throughout the house. There is a game table with two loves seats, benches and chairs for all of your guests. The dining table is large enough to seat 10 comfortably. The Kitchen is wide open and fully equipped with microwave, toaster oven, a quiet Bosch dishwasher and a large side-by-side refrigerator for your use. The large pantry comes in handy for those long stays on the island. Make frozen drinks in the blender and sip Pina Coladas on your private dock while watching the dolphin swim past. If you feel like truly embracing the Lowcountry life then use the large steamer pot for Lowcountry Shrimp Boils in the Spring and Summer months or grab a few bushels of local Oysters and have your very own Oyster Roast to keep you warm in the winter. Additional appliances include: crockpot, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder and more. With 2,200 SQFT you will have plenty of room to stretch out, relax and enjoy all Goat Island has to offer.
There are three bedrooms on the second floor including the master suite with your very own full bath. Wake up to the sunrise over the intercoastal right from your queen sized bed in one of the two front bedrooms. Feel like sleeping in? Choose to stay in the Pelican Room and look out over the only road on Goat Island, don't expect to see any cars though, only neighbors out for some morning exercise. The fourth bedroom is on the third floor all by itself and is the perfect place to take in some of the most beautiful views in all of Charleston! The upper bedroom or belvedere as some call it, consists of a daybed with a pull-out trundle, a small TV for those rainy days and a roof deck with chairs for sunning by day and STARGAZING by night!! There is a studio area on the second floor that also has a twin trundle bed and is a great area for a kids sleepover! The home has a total of 2 1/2 bathrooms with both full baths on the second floor and the remaining 1/2 bath is located on the main floor.
At The Sandy Bottom Mermaid House you can play in the tide! Fish day in and day out! Observe Nature! Sunbathe on the dock, on the beach, on the Upper Deck or on the hammock in the yard! Walk trails (this precious little island is only 2 1/2 miles long. You can't get lost)! Do crafts. Meditate. Dream. Heal your soul. Love, Laugh, Dance all day and all night (but, not too loudly, please....) Enjoy the Bay which is a Nature Conservatory, with indigenous plants of majestic Live Oaks draped with Spanish Moss, ageless Palmetto Palms, Berried Yaupon, Wax Myrtle, Mulberry, wild grape, some cattails, plants that I've never seen.....and so much more! Bring your camera!
The home is decorated with local art including the Sand Art made out of local beach sand!! These pieces are for sale, you can take a little piece of Goat Island home with you to remember your trip!
