The cabin is located near all the outdoor activities you will enjoy:
★ SUMMER ★
You can go hiking from the cabin's front steps, drive a short distance to Grandfather Mountain or anywhere in the area. If you like disc golf, the ski slopes turn into a disc golf course and can be reached by chair lift from the Beech Mountain Ski Resort.
If you prefer river rafting, just a short 23 minute drive away.
Likewise, fishing is about 20 minutes away at Lake Coffey and Buckeye Lake.
If you prefer breweries or wineries as your outdoor activity, they are only minutes away.
★ FALL ★
You can spend hours driving the Blue Ridge Parkway admiring the fall foliage or attending the many fun festivals. Some popular festivals are Land of Oz, Oktoberfest and Wooly Worm. Enjoy hiking through the woods admiring the beautiful fall colors.
★ WINTER ★
It's all about skiing, snowboarding, tubing or sledding.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
★ SECURITY PURPOSES ★
There are home exterior cameras on the property, one on the back driveway, one on the front driveway and a Ring doorbell. All of these cameras record audio and visual. There are no cameras inside.
★ NATURE★
This is North Carolina, there are insects, bugs, snakes and other critters in the area. We do have a regular service of pest control, but if you do see insects and bugs in the house, this is the nature of being in the mountains. When outside, please be mindful of snakes and bears.
★ BEARS★
Do NOT leave coolers in your car, on the decks or porches. Please bring all coolers in the house. The bears will seek these out and destroy your coolers and your vehicle. Please do not leave trash outside as the bears will destroy this as well. Leave all trash inside the house until you depart or place in the bear-proof bins on the property. Lock your vehicle doors or the bears will climb in to investigate.
★ TRAVEL INSURANCE ★
At this time I would like to suggest obtaining travel insurance for your trip as I do not offer refunds for any reason. Unfortunately, things can happen that are out of your control, such as flight cancellations, illnesses or unforeseen circumstances. You will be happy you have coverage if something unexpected interrupts your trip.
★ WINTER SEASON ★
The roads leading up to the cabin are paved but very windy and steep. AWD, 4X4 vehicles or tire chains are highly recommended before heading to Beech Mountain. The town of Beech Mountain does a very good job of plowing the snow from the roads, but you want to be prepared just in case. HIGHLY SUGGEST: Park in the lower driveway if there is chance of ice or snow as the front driveway is a bit steeper and difficult to exit during winter weather.
★ FIREWOOD ★
Make sure to stop at Fred's Mercantile or another local place to pick up some firewood before heading to the cabin.
• The cabin is professionally cleaned and disinfected in between every guest stay.
• Minimum rental age 25
• Fireplace is turned off from May until October
