The driftless area moves at its own pace, defined by Amish buggies and narrow winding roads, organic farms and silent sports such as fly fishing, biking and canoeing. Peaceful

My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The cottage is beautiful inside and out. We especially enjoyed sitting in the screened porch. We ventured into LaCrosse, Winona, and Viroqua and found a lot of great used bookstores.

Great Cottage in the Driftless Area

We had a wonderful time at this cottage. Its location is a perfect spot for a fishing trip as it is close to many creeks/coulees. The cottage is also very thoughtfully laid out for fly fishermen. It is very well appointed and we enjoyed the scenery and screened in porch to relax between fishing adventures. Will hopefully be back sometime!

A snug cabin on a trout stream nestled in a Wisconsin coulee.

I sat on the bench at streamside just before dawn taking in the cold clean air. Between the great horned owl hooting goodnight and the.pair of eagles greeting the dawn.....lifetime memory for sure.

End of trout season

For the end of Trout Season, Oct. 15th each year, a group of us try to meet out in the Driftless - our 8th year doing so. With such unpredictable weather, I've started renting places to be out of weather, be comfortable, and get a good night's sleep, with an easy shower and coffee in the morning. In addition, I've been so enamored with the Drifltess - Viroqua area it has become a goal to bring my spouse out during the trout season to experience it. The lovely cottage on the Timber Coulee was exceptional. Perfectly appointed, and cottage stylized, that it's hard to fathom anyone not feeling comfortable there. It would be a lovely future place for a couples getaway, where one partner could literally walk out the door and fish for a couple of hours, while the other enjoys coffee and a good book on the lovely screened porch.

Perfect Late Summer Cottage

Perfect little oasis in the Coulee Region! Tasteful decor and well appointed kitchen for cooking and enjoying the view of the trout creek and cow farm. Our teen girls loved the aesthetic - many pictures were taken during golden hour in the hammock and by the stream. Cottage was better than the pictures - property is stunning and was a true getaway.

Comfortable and Elegant Country House

I think the other reviews cover the main high points, so I will add in a few that haven't been mentioned: The water pressure is great, even upstairs, and the water from the tap tastes wonderful - this is sometimes a concern in more remote homes, but not at all a concern here! I absolutely loved the perennials in the landscaping - stunning! Especially the little patch of wildflowers that was in constant bloom. Finally, though I didn't see any rare birds while we were there, we had a lovely selection in the yard on a daily basis. My favorites were the Cliff Swallows that live under the road over the stream; their acrobatics were so much fun to watch! What a lovely place, thank you for letting us stay there!

Beautiful streamside cottage experience

This property definitely has an upscale feel to it. It's an ideal setup if someone doesn't want to spend every waking minute fishing because it has a terrific kitchen, comfortable living room, and an outstanding screened in porch. The hosts really thought out the details and we didn't lack for anything. I'd like to visit in the fall when shorter days would force us to take more advantage of the comfort of the cottage!

A Peaceful Escape in the Driftless

Our recent stay at the cozy cottage by Timber Coulee Creek was a delightful experience. Nestled in a unique, glacier-free terrain, this cottage provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and enjoying nature. The area's slow pace and natural beauty, along with local Amish buggies and winding roads, added to the charm. The cottage was well-equipped with everything needed for comfort, including a full kitchen, washer, dryer, and free WiFi. The outdoor space was ideal for unwinding in the evenings. Property managers, Ted and Kimberly Wichelt, were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, ensuring our stay was excellent. I highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking to explore the driftless region or seeking a tranquil retreat.

Very cozy

Beautiful cottage stream side! Couldn’t have asked for a better spot as a fly fisher. Looking out over the stream and pastoral views were especially relaxing and peaceful. The design of the cottage and the comfort level was more than 5 star. So comfortable. Everything was well thought out and made our stay so enjoyable. The weather was not cooperating but we did not care because we were in the cozy cottage!! Thank you. We will be back.

Peaceful

It was so peaceful and restful! Had coffee one early morning on the front porch, an eagle swooped down and attempted to catch a trout from the stream. We loved the screened in porch and the kitchen had everything that we needed! The whole cottage was decorated so cute! We will be back.

Driftless and Wonderful

The cottage was all that we had hoped for and more. Check-in went smoothly and we opened the door to a beautifully decorated interior that provided a sense of comfort and coziness. All our needs were covered by the well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedding and bath accessories. We spent our evenings out on the screen porch which offered a sense of sitting outside due to the small mesh screen. Having the sounds of the birds and chirping insects while enjoying cocktails and wine was very pleasant. The fishing was excellent in the area streams and it was quite a bonus to be able to finish off the evening with a few cast just outside the front door. Thank you to our hosts for sharing this wonderful place with us, we will definitely be back.

Timber Coullee Cottage

World class accommodation and ownership. Have been staying at the former and now nearly completely rebuilt cottage due to its central location for several years to Driftless fly fishing opportunities and was blown away with the renovation and attention to every detail on and around the property… Best sunsets and view of the valley and terriffic fishing steps from the door…. T&K take great pains to make sure this home away from home meets every need, including a soaking tub for end of the day relaxation. Fully equipped chefs kitchen makes meals a breeze.
