LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!! The location of this property is AWESOME!!!! Plenty to do the entire time we were there. Presque Isle State Park can certainly allow for a fun, full day at the Beach. The Childrens Museum in downtown Erie, another fun filled day if you've got younger Children. Walking distance from the house is a rocky beach... Go fishing (although water is shallow)... Find Sea Glass, we did!! Minutes from the House (Rt. 86) is where you'll find the quaint town with GREAT food, and cute shops, a must visit!! The Home Owners have EVERYTHING you need at the House... Clean and such a wonderfully decorated place!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Honestly we couldn’t have had a better time. The lake house was neatly organized and clean, and the little detail really made me happy as a parent of two littles. The children’s hangers, step stool in the bathroom, kids soap in the bathtub, and basket of snacks when we arrived was such a thoughtful touch for families with small ones. The beds were comfortable and there was space for all five of us to stretch out and relax. Communication with the host Rebecca was impeccably fast while taking care of a small problem (not related to the stay or the amenities!). You can really tell a privately owned property from one that’s owned by a management group and this lake house (and the hosts) was the real difference with all the personal touches and quick communication. We loved our stay and will recommend the Little Shovel Lake house to family and friends.

This house was perfect for our family with three young children. It felt like we were staying at a friend’s. The owners were very responsive and even sent something over that we needed and couldn’t find. The house had some snacks, a coffee/hot chocolate bar, a kids step stool for the bathroom, games and puzzles, lots of towels, and nightlights! We made every meal there and ate outside. They also provided beach toys, life vests, outside toys, fold up chairs, and a wagon to take things down to the beach! So many items that are helpful for a family with littles. The walk to the lake was easy with just one small hill and the space was wonderful! There was plenty of space for sand play, rock searching, creek play, and we also got to have a sunset campfire which was beautiful! I would definitely recommend water shoes for the rocky beach but there are also lots of trees providing shady places. This was a wonderful relaxing trip for our little family! We are already talking about coming back.

Great place for friends and family to hang and sit back and relax. Hosts provided supplies above and beyond and were great for communicating. We especially loved the fire on the beach.

Beautiful cottage!

The cottage is super cute and well appointed with everything we needed. We really enjoyed the community beach and park. Great location for extra excursions. We will be back!

Relaxing stay at the Little Shovel

What a wonderful place to stay! The house setup was perfect for our family. We enjoyed walking down to the lake (we even got to see the Aurora borealis!), and walking around the community. The Straw Hat Sundae Shop was our favorite food find nearby. Delicious ice cream!

This is the best place to stay in North East! Super, super clean, accommodating hosts, easy to find. They even have a nice welcome basket for you as well as coffee and snacks. Answer all questions quickly. We love it there and are looking forward to staying again in the spring. 5 stars is not enough!!!!! Decor is great too, great beds, well equip. I could go on! Thanks so much for your hospitality!

Great cottage by the lake.

Great cottage for a family getaway. Very clean and had everything we needed. Despite the rainy weather during our visit, we were able to find many fun activities in the area. The kayaks and beaches would be wonderful with warmer, dryer weather. Owners were very responsive and welcoming.

The Little Shovel August 19-24

The Little Shovel is a great place to stay! This property has everything you could want and is beautifully decorated. There was plenty of room for our family. Our 3-year-old really enjoyed the park across the road as well as the beach just beyond. Great location for visiting wineries and fishing excursions!

Family Lake Trip

We had an absolutely amazing time at the Little Shovel! Great location to the lake and fantastic amenities. The owners have thought of everything. We will definitely come back next summer. We will go back to Ohio and tell everyone about our great vacation!

Peaceful

What a wonderful lake house to stay in! We've stayed in a lot of placed and this was by far 1 of our favorites. The owners had a snack basket for us and cold waters in the fridge along with a fully stocked coffee bar waiting. Everything was clean and we just felt at peace here. The little walk to the lake each morning was a wonderful quiet time to reflect and just be in the moment.

Beach towels included!

This property was excellent! Extremely well stocked. Extra beach towels were included! Float toys and kayaks were available. There were even extendable roasting forks for cooking marshmallows at the firepit (wood included) at the beach.
