The delayed check-in was an unexpected and disappointing surprise for my family of three. In advance of our stay, I had reached out to Amy (the property manager) to request a 2:00 PM check-in, explaining that we are cyclists and would be arriving after a long day on the saddle. It was also my birthday week, and I was looking forward to celebrating during our stay. Amy responded that the home would be ready by 2:00 PM and asked me to message her the day before to confirmâ which I did. She assured me everything would be ready.Unfortunately, upon arrival, we found dirty sheets on the floor, towels still in the washer, and the home had clearly not been cleaned from the prior guests. I immediately communicated this to Amy. With her permission, we agreed my family would shower and go out for dinner while the place was cleaned. Despite being tired and hungry after a 4-hour ride, I messaged her again as we left, letting her know that no cleaning crew had arrived yet.Amy called several times while we were getting readyâonce to offer oranges and again to suggest dining options, even after I had told her we already had plans to dine at a nearby restaurant. Although I appreciated the gesture, it became somewhat intrusive. After dinner, we returned and stayed outside while the home was finally cleanedâby 5:30 PM. Amy later told us the property had been vacant for two days prior to our arrival, which made the oversight more frustrating. At that point, it felt more like a management error.
