Perched atop Suck Creek Mountain, Chickadee Cabin invites you to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect. Sip your morning coffee in a rocking chair on the front porch, sway gently in the built-in hammock on the back deck, and let the forest soundtrack soothe your soul.
Whether you're here to hike to Suck Creek, climb in nearby Prentice Cooper State Forest, or simply unwind beneath the trees, this is the kind of place where time stretches out and stress melts away.
The Space
Chickadee is one of four unique cabins in the Songbird Neighborhood, a pocket of creativity and comfort tucked into the heart of Talking Water Nature Retreat, an 82-acre family-run sanctuary where nature, art, and community come together.
Each cabin is fully equipped for relaxed, independent stays, with:
Sleeping space for 6 guests

A full indoor bathroom plus seasonal outdoor shower

Complete kitchen & outdoor campsite-style grill

Cozy lounge spaces, including patios and decks

Extras like electric fireplaces, outdoor fire pits, WiFi, and small TVs

ENO hammock hooks in the hallway for a playful sleep option (hammocks + straps provided!)

At the heart of the neighborhood is the Songbird Pavilion, a communal hub with:
An outdoor kitchen (electric griddle, sink, & cabinets)

Firepit, benches, and seating for group meals or evening hangouts

Fun touches like a slide, swing, tetherball, and trailheads right nearby

Access to shared laundry and games/toiletries just steps away

Cabins can be booked individually or together for reunions, retreats, and creative gatherings.
Guest Access
Your stay at Chickadee includes exclusive use of the cabin and its immediate outdoor area, plus shared access to the Songbird Pavilion and guest laundry/game area in the nearby garage.

Pet Policy
We love your furry companions, but please read carefully:
Pets are welcome with prior approval and payment of a pet fee

Honest guests receive a 50% discount on the pet fee for notifying us before arrival

Full $100 fee applies for unapproved or unpaid pets

Pets must be crated when left alone (crates available upon request)

Owners are responsible for all pet-related cleanup and any damage
