This location is great for easily getting into St. Ignace and for going on adventures in the surrounding area. John is an excellent host. He will be as present or as absent as you need, and he will do whatever he can to make your stay pleasant. Check in was simple. The house is really clean. The kitchen has all the basics for meal prep and serving. The fenced in yard, with a mesmerizing view, is a nice place to relax. We would stay ther again.The only suggestion we have is to put in more screens to allow more of the lake breeze to move through the house.

Everything was nice and clean. John was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. I would give this property an excellent if it had a couple of updates!1- updated windows which were hard to work with.2- bathroom needed some shelf and mirror updates which would be simple to do.

Clean and simple 2 bedroom unit with great back yard and view of the Straits both night and day. Our GSD loved the property chasing the ball and soaking up the nice breezes. John was a very gracious and thoughtful host with added touches like bottled water, Kuerig with cups, local homemade tallow soap and many other items. Excellent location for access to the UP and surrounding area, especially only having to cross the bridge twice (there and back) for our 4-day stay. Nice TV, never turned it on - spent most of our time there out back in nature. Would recommend to anyone traveling to the area and loves the outdoors.

Failed Expectations - Buyer Beware

1. This is a very old, original condition “up north” type cabin NOT a Corporate Apartment. Given the many UP winters and conditions it’s been through, like more than 60, it’s got that musty/mildew smell and it’s heavy. Owner will disagree but it did not sit well with me. My respiratory system was inflamed/irritated and I do not have allergies. 2. House sits right ON very busy part of Highway 2 The pillow your head rests on will be less than 30 yards from the highway. Road noise is significant. Tried to use foam earplugs to no avail. This needs to be made more clear to any potential customer. 3. No air conditioning and all windows are kept closed/unusable other than 1 in kitchen. NO airflow in house. Small fan by bed but that’s it. This again probably compounds point number one.4. It is essentially a house/cabin modified into 2 living quarters, with homeowner/host living on other side of wall from rental. be aware privacy may be different than expected, and sound will certainly travel through thin wall.Bottom line, I had booked this in order to do a daddy daughter weekend with my 12 year old daughter and go to Mackinaw island, etc. I had booked this home for three nights, but we abandon it immediately the first morning due to inability to rest comfortably. Fled to nearby hotel.I explained the same to host, who simply stated he was offended, and REFUSED any idea of even a partial refund. Living and learning……..

Fantastic Stay!

When we arried our host John met us and told us about the the place and gave us a recommendation of a place to try for dinner which was great. He was very nice/friendly and if we needed anything at all we had to do was text and ask. Beautiful view of the lake from the backyard. Place was very clean and a perfect stay for our family vaction.

My wife, daughter and I love St. Ignace, Michigsn as a stepping off point for Mackinac Island, and wanted to pick back up again on our tradition of an October visit. Finding this property was the best part of our recent trip.

Fantastic spot, awesome host.

Place could be easy to miss, but John really help out with that. He messaged us very clear directions that made it way easier to find. The house was in a perfect place for us, minutes from town, but right off the highway we were going to be using the most. The house was very well kept, with a nice view.

Great Place

This house was just perfect for my husband, myself and a friend. There is a nice sized living area and dining area with a table big enough to play dominoes on. The kitchen is small but perfectly adequate for the little cooking we did and equipped with the essentials. The house is older but a very cute retro feel. I loved the kitchen cabinet handles with the latching handles. A memory from the past! The house was very clean and you could tell by the pattern on the carpet it was freshly vacuumed. The view of the Mackinac Straits was nice and the owner was very nice and in a unit next door. Communication was excellent. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Great place to stay only 5-10 minutes from the ferries to Mackinac Island and 5 mins to the bridge View park for Mackinac Bridge. John was a wonderful host and made us feel like family. Beautiful views of the lake from the backyard as well,

This is a nice property to stay at. The location is what one wants for exploring the upper peninsula and upper-lower MI. The house was clean and the host both accommodating and friendly. The View from the outdoor patio area is fantastic looking over the water and toward Mackinaw straights.

Varför värden valde detta boende

Although my place is next to the highway, which is sometimes beneficial, the view is spectacular and the birds of all kinds frequent the feeders here.
I'm very close to a lot of interesting and beneficial tourist destinations including the KOA campground just a few hundred yards away across the road and the ferry docks to Mackinac Island are only a mile and a half drive and the shuttle will pick you up here no charge.

I am here, or not, if you so choose and can answer your questions and direct your travels to make things smoother and more confident.
And I do all that outdoorsy stuff if you forget your kayak paddle or something....
I'll even light the fire and speak the native language if you're interested.
