This property is everything the reviews say it is. We stayed for a week…. a long weekend with our children and grandchildren and the rest of the week just the two of us and the property and home here fit all of that perfectly. While there is so much to do in the area, we also were quite content with staying on property and never lacked for things to do or for peace and quiet. We dropped our paddle boards in the creek, played numerous indoor and outdoor games and enjoyed the fire pit and new hot tub as well as the fireplace inside. This home is exceptionally stocked, and the owner has obviously spent a lot of time and effort to make this home inviting and homey. Tony was a great communicator as well and made checking in and out seamless. Hope to stay here again soon.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed your home! We found it to be clean and well stocked with everything we might need. The location is peaceful, quiet, secluded. We especially liked it being on Austin Creek. We went walking or swimming in the creek most every day. We also gathered around the fire pit most days. Tony was always available to answer a question or handle a concern. A wonderful host. We toured wineries, spent a day along the coast and a day at Armstrong Redwoods. A perfect blend of activity, relaxation and connecting with family. We would definitely stay here again! I would consider booking your stay now!

Wonderful family destination

Spacious, clean, great appliances and furnishings. A huge yard for children. Hot tub, fire pit and grill all great! I highly recommend this property! (Owner very helpful and quick to respond to questions) Everything was perfect for our family getaway.

Idyllic

Perfect spot for families with kids - they spent hours and hours playing in the meadow. Sunshine, redwoods, smores at the campfire, and access to the creek - what more can you want? Kitchen spacious and well appointed. Private, quiet, clean - this is our second visit and we'd love to make it an annual tradition.

Amazing property

This was our second time at villa ratto and my family has begun to think of it as our sanctuary away from the city. The yard- the creek- the fire pit and hot tub- it is simply perfect. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary equipment and the beds are super comfortable.

Thanksgiving Holiday

Our family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving at this amazing property. The kitchen was well equipped to cook our holiday meal, we lacked for nothing. We loved the redwood trees and fruit trees on the property and the flat area was great for playing cornhole. We used the fire pit and jacuzzi almost every night. We will recommend this property to all our family and friends.

Holiday Haven!

The photos definitely do the property justice! The home is perfect, and as other reviewers mentioned, the kitchen is the most well appointed we've ever experienced at a rental! I normally always bring a few items we can't live without and the house had them all! The grounds and creek access were so wonderful! The kids and pups had the absolute BEST time running around the property and enjoying the creek! Truly wonderful and the most kind host!! We're so grateful we were lucky enough to enjoy this property and look forward to a future stay! Highly recommend!!!

Great Weekend Getaway

Five of us in our family (three humans and two dogs) had a terrific stay at the property. The home was comfortable and extremely well-stocked. The kitchen had anything you could want, there were plenty of towels and linens, and a nice collection of games. Wi-fi worked well through the home. The fenced in yard was great for the pups (although the yard is big enough that you should keep a very close eye on unleashed dogs). Would recommend for a lazy trip away for some terrific quiet time.

Delightful in every detail

The house is not large, but it is beautifully appointed and very comfortable. We've never had such a well-stocked kitchen in a rental home. The location is lovely, and the property is private and quiet, with several stands of large redwood trees. Charming little town of Cazadero is four miles away. Don't miss Raymond's Bakery. Owners helpful and thoughtful, with amazing attention to detail throughout the house.

A Hidden Gem!

This is the absolute best VRBO in the Cazadero area. We've stayed at many and none were as spacious, clean, well-stocked, or beautiful. There was so much open space for our dogs to run. Plenty of space to talk and spend quality family time. This was also the most stocked rental house I've ever rented. They have EVERYTHING you could possibly need in the kitchen - it's better stocked than my house! Tony was super helpful and communicative. The house was even nicer than the photos. We really had the absolute best weekend and will definitely be back!

Cazadero Gem

If you are reading this review and thinking about staying here, just book it! First, I rent vacation homes 4-5 times a year, so I’m picky and used to common issues. I could not tell you anything negative I found about this property. First the pictures do not do the yard and surrounding area justice. I have been coming to the Russian river area my whole life and the property brings out the beauty of the sequoias, ferns and the creek, where we found a small waterfall. We loved exploring around the yard, playing badminton we had brought and frisbee with our dog who could run free in the huge fenced in property. We enjoyed the deck during the day where we could relax in the sun and the fire pit and hot tub at night. The house itself feels spacious and was very well stocked for all your needs. They had games, books, firewood, extra paper towels and TP. The kitchen was amazing. I am a foodie who cooks on vacation so I was in heaven. From the double ovens to the range, abundance of cookware, glasses and silverware to the little details like Tupperware, foil, and ziplock baggies. And if you don’t want to cook there are several restaurants in either Guerneville, Bodega bay or Jenner. Lastly this host, Tony is amazing. Great communication and checked in to make sure everything was fine. I even forgot a few items and he shipped it to me. As long as the property continues to be a rental, my family and I will be coming back every year!

Absolute gem in the redwoods!

Thank you for sharing your home with us. Our family (3 generations) had a very enjoyable weekend, cooking together in your gourmet kitchen, playing badminton and volleyball, relaxing in the hot tub, hiking along the creek, watching movies and more! Your home is spacious and beautifully appointed. Your thoughtfulness shows through in every detail. So peaceful. So serene. In addition, the rental process was so clear and easy! Thank you Tony!

Redwood Heaven

My husband and I, along with two other couples, booked a zip line trip at Sonoma Canopy Tours in Occidental last summer. When looking for place to stay and we were fortunate to discover Villa Ratto. Let me say, we absolutely loved this place! It's a stunning home under some of the most spectacular redwoods with plenty of open space all around. The kitchen is fantastic! It has everything. It was the perfect spot to hang out, cook, and chat it up with our friends We were able to unwind from our day by soaking in the hot tub, cool off in the pool, and kick back by the campfire out back with a glass of wine. The easy access to Austin Creek out back is such a bonus. We skipped rocks in the water and explored nature just a few steps away. Best of all, it’s located nearby so many places; Sonoma Canopy Tours, Duncans Mills (love the old fashion general store and cute little shops there), Korbel Winery Tour, Armstrong Woods, and the most gorgeous drive along the coast to Bodega Bay. We did all that in one weekend. For our next trip to the area, we will definitely be staying at Villa Ratto. By the way, the zip line tour was completely awesome!

Fantastic Family Getaway Near the Ocean

We had family members from Washington, California, and New Hampshire gather to spend quality time together and this roomy house was the perfect family getaway for us. It is within walking distance of the river and is only a short drive to Hwy 1, beaches, and Bodega Bay. It has an open floor plan that fosters family interaction. The kitchen was a delight to cook in and was well-stocked with plenty of plates, coffee cups, wine glasses, cooking pots, pans, serving bowls, and any kind of gadget the seasoned cook might need. Coffee, teas, hot chocolate, popcorn, oatmeal, and granola bars were provided, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. Each of the three bedrooms was spacious enough to easily move about or to be able to just relax a bit away from the bustle of the main living area. The closets all had extra linens and pillows, as well as a selection of games. The large utility room offered not only laundry facilities but was also stocked with beach towels and any kind of garbage bag, detergent, and cleaning supply that anyone would need plus a supply of flashlights and a first aid kit. The house has a large patio in the front and a lovely spa, a BBQ, and a fire pit in the back, with an ample supply of wood already on site. The house is surrounded by a large yard with beautiful fruit trees and has plenty of space for taking strolls with our wee one without having to get even close to the main road. Although we did not end up taking our dog, the owner was gracious enough to give us permission to bring her along had we not been able to find boarding for her. We all thoroughly enjoyed our vacation time together, made more pleasant by the many conveniences this house offered. Every one of us agrees that we would be happy to return for another family event in the future. Tony, thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful house.

Villa Ratto=Valhalla

This home was even better than billed with amazing amenities such as Ghiradelli chocolates, Peets Coffee, Popcorn, Hot Chocolate. If this house doesn't have it. You probably haven't found it like we forgot to bring bakong powder for pancakes from scratch and my wife made do with a trick of using vinegar...before we found that yes, the Ratto larder did have baking powder. The interior is perfect for a family with an open kitchen living room dining room design but three private bedrooms. The 2 acre grounds with fruit tree orchards and redwood stands were jeavrn for our two city dogs and our busy toddler granddaughter. The hot-tub was a delight. We had one problem that only highlighted how thoughtful and responsive our host. Tony Ratto was. He discovered a problem with the refrigerator that was a glistening pretty new Kenmore Elite...it wouldn't cool! He only discovered it the morning of our arrival. He texted us, but in the chaos of our departure I didn't see it. We arrived with a full week of food for our stay and were worried we would lose some of it to spoilage. Tony saved the day by arriving with a new 5ft tall backup new fridge from home depot because getting the big one repaired just couldn't be done in a timely way. We lost nothing and Tony gave us money to buy ice since it didn't have an icemaker or come with ice trays. Tony was the perfect host who really cared about our family having a good time which we did. Only thing wrong was one week was not enough!

For 50 years, Cazadero and the Russian River has been our family summer and weekend getaway. Our family vacation home holds a special place in our hearts since our parents bought it in the summer of 1969. It holds wonderful memories and it is our pleasure to share it with you.

It is a great place to come together with family and friends. The redwoods, Austin Creek, the sunny open space, and the location are the perfect setting for a memorable vacation. Plus, it's only a two hour drive north of San Francisco. Great for a quick weekend getaway.

Also, it's only a 5 minute drive to the Russian River and the charming town of Duncans Mills, 15 minutes to Guerneville, 15 minutes heading west to the scenic Sonoma Coast, and close to some of the best wineries in Sonoma County.
