Overall good stay

Location was great, nice and secluded on the river. Unit was clean but I did notice a few dead wasps in the kitchen sink area. When I stayed it was cold overnight (20’s) and regulating the temperature was difficult. There is a propane stove but running it makes the cabin way too hot and turning it off before bed and using the space heater made it very cold at 5AM. The hot tub worked great but it switched to Spanish and locked me out. I looked through directions and couldn’t find a solution. Overall my stay was good.

Loved our stay!

This cabin was exactly as expected, cute and quaint. Perfect for two people. The creek in the back was the best ever. It was so great just to go walk in it. The location was great. We were looking for some seclusion, but we weren’t far from Lansing, West Jefferson or Grayson Highland Park. It was a perfect set up for bringing our dog. The wrap around deck had a gate so we felt completely relaxed, letting our dog wander around on the deck without fear of him getting out. We will definitely come back.

Four Day Getaway

The only complaint I have is there was dog hair on the floor, couch and rugs. The refrigerator wasn't wiped out and clean. The drawer the silverware was in needed cleaning and cabinets needed to be wiped out.

Nice cabin on Creek

Very clean, good location close to Jeffersons, VA Creeper Trail and Grayson Highlands State Park in VA. Quiet and relaxing on Helton Creek. Enjoyed our stay!

Charming spot

We came for our 5th wedding anniversary. Was exactly what we needed- time away and in the quiet of the mountains. It’s so perfect, has everything we needed. Grill works great, the hot tub is SO nice, and you gotta start a campfire under the stars 💕 we hope to come back next year!!

Peaceful retreat

My husband and I rented the cabin for my birthday with plans to go hiking in Grayson Highlands. However, it rained the entire time but we made the best of it. We enjoy a relaxing time at the cabin and visited neighboring towns.

Romantic and Cozy

Perfect getaway for a couple. Relaxing creek right behind the cabin you can hear as soon as you arrive and view from the back porch. 15 minuete drive to Grayson park where we hiked and saw wild ponies! Everything you need for a relaxing time :)

Helton Cabin

Cabin was a little tight for 3 adults & 1 English Bulldog. We made it work though. Everyone absolutely loved the porch area, even our dog loved it, with the sounds of the creek.

Loved the rushing sounds of the stream

The cabin was very clean. The covered deck was a plus, given it rained a few evenings. The stream was absolutely gorgeous. At first I was concerned about only having a hot-plate, but had no problems at all frying up a pan of bacon for our breakfast. Excellent towels and other linens.

Therapeutic getaway

We came here last year for our anniversary and loved it so much we had to come back again this year!! It was exactly the same relaxing experience, and we rarely left the cabin. We did go to the VA Creeper trail for bike rides which is close by! The rest of our time was spent soaking up our amenities of the grill, hot tub, living room to read in, listening to the creek behind us and fire pit. Best little spot.

good property but hot tub doesn't work

This is a great property and looks even better than the pictures show. small cabin but fun with creek in your backyard. even though there are 2 houses on each side with the privacy on the porch it felt nice. unfortunately, the hot tub didn't work (and this was the main reason we chose this property) so that was a disappointing aspect of our weekend.

Long weekend

This was our second time staying here. We did enjoy our stay, however this cabin could use a little love. It's not being cleaned well & could use an exterminator to help with bugs. (Not roaches) just typical wooded area bugs. We would consider staying again, as I'm sure the owner is paying someone close to clean & may not be aware of the rush job being done

AMAZING :)

Wow, I cannot even begin to express how incredible our time at this cabin was. Jim, the owner, was so accommodating and responsive and made all efforts to make our stay so memorable. Some of our favorite memories were hiking Grayson Highlands, driving to Whitetop Mountain, visiting West Jefferson, and biking the VA Creeper trail. Honestly, just being at the cabin was magical. Waking up in the morning and walking down the road with our coffee, visiting with the livestock and petting the horses, all while walking along the creek side....Book this place, you will not regret it. Thank you so much and we cannot wait to visit again!

Wonderful backyard getaway!

This cabin is great for a short getaway for two. And while I am glad they allow pets, I would not recommend it if you have big pups. I would also say the amenities could use a bit of an update to improve the experience and space. My favorite thing about this cabin is most definitely the back porch! All though the cabin sits along a country roadside, when you are on the back porch you only hear the meditative sounds of the babbling stream. The hot tub and rocking chairs make it even more relaxing. Grayson Highlands State Park is only a 10 minute drive and the scenic byways are very nice. The property manager is a great communicator and was very helpful with all my questions and concerns. Overall our stay was a pleasant one. Thank you!
