Thank you for highlighting a very compelling aspect of the Cottage! It’s location, on a private road among residential homes, very close to the Bush estate, with unobstructed ocean views From all the windows on the ocean side of the house is unique and alluring.

Thank you for your review. Yes, you were the first tenants to arrive for the season. The Cottage had been completely cleaned three weeks before your arrival and all windows had been shut since that time. Because there are windows all around the house on both floors, a sliding glass door, and a front door with a screen, tenants can open them all up (turn on fans if desired) and let the fresh Maine sea air circulate..in no time, any ventilation issue should be resolved. Thank you for pointing out that the location and views were spectacular and that the Cottage was clean, comfortable and well stocked!! As can be seen from the multiple Photos on the VRBO listing (and as described in the narrative), the Cottage has some vintage furniture as well as new carpeting, paint, and sofa. There are a mix of old and new lamps. Visitors who would like up to the minute decor would be advised to book a new hotel or modern property to their liking. We do not strive to compete with those properties . Our happy guests enjoy the “spectacular” ocean views, peace, and quiet our cozy Cottage has to offer not to mention its proximity to all the wonderful sites and seafood in Kport!

We so enjoyed hosting you and your family to celebrate your Mother’s birthday. My mother loved this house, too. I would point out (for clarity) that the kitchen is fully functional, with a new refrigerator and is equipped to prepare three meals a day. There are few kitchens which can boast a perfect ocean view. Hope to see you next season!

As the multiple photos on the website reveal, this is a beloved family vacation home. One can decided before booking if one prefers a property which is "like new" or whether one desires a cozy homey spot with, as you said, amazing ocean views. Most of our many satisfied repeat clients prefer the view. Covid prevented us from traveling to Maine this year to supply the house and we relied on friends to help us provide sufficient TP, PT etc to get us through the season. If the house was lacking in supplies or any furniture was "broken", I wish you had brought it to my attention during your stay. We work very hard to please our tenants, but we do rely upon our tenants to inform us of their issues. As for bringing in the lightweight deck chairs, Tropical Storm ISAIAS was threatening to hit the maine coast and I was concerned for your safety! In the House Instructions, which are also available to guests on the site, my cell phone is provided and guests are kindly asked to notify me immediately if there are any issues. Sadly, your review is the first I have heard you were dissatisfied. It is the custom with Maine coast vacation rentals, that linen/towel services are used which require you to put on and remove the linens. There simply is not enough available labor to remove, launder and put on sheets on same day turnover days according to the cleaning services. I sincerely wish you happiness, wherever your travels may take you in the future!

So sorry Bjorn that you were so unhappy and we were unable to accommodate you for the extra night you wanted to stay. I wonder whether you viewed the online photos and read the property description before booking? I am sorry you didn't notice the brand new carpeting in the living room and new flooring in the bathrooms. The many pictures on the VRBO website accurately portray the property. Yes, the house is a golden, oldie, but the vast majority of our tenants love it the way it is. The house is well maintained and every year it is spruced up in accordance with our budget. There is only one added fee which includes cleaning and linens/towels for 6 people. For the record, the only favor I asked you to do was to take 4 cellphone pictures of a bathtub so that I could get a repair done. I never would have asked you had I known it would cause any inconvenience; I am sorry for asking you to do that. I respectfully disagree there is an old moldy stench. There is no mold in the house. As for the carpeting, it is in the living areas but not the bathrooms or kitchen. The carpeting is reflected in the online photos as well. The House Instructions were also online and available for you to review prior to booking. I wish you had chosen a house which more closely matched your desires; then you would not have been disappointed and I would not have been saddened by your disappointment.
