Lovely, absolutely lovely

Met up with best friend for a ‘mom’s getaway’ to Carmel and Big Sur. Michelle’s place is charming, the beds are so comfortable and the setting was quiet and relaxing. Highly recommend it and will definitely return when we come back!

Peaceful nest in the forest

My husband and I loved our stay in this charming apartment. Up a flight of stairs is a very private, quiet and relaxing space. Many comfy touches, with an outside sitting deck, very comfortable bed & bath, a small but complete kitchen and several petite sitting areas. The whole apartment has a joyful feeling that made us want to linger long into the day. Our host was very helpful and welcoming with great recommendations of places to eat and explaining a nice walking route down the hill to the shops and restaurants. We look forward to a return visit!

A quiet spot

I have found the perfect spot for My trips to Carmel. Michele has included everything to make her guests comfortable. Studio is within walking distance of town and town beach, a quiet spot and with skylights, so you can see the stars at night. An electric fireplace, patio grill and jacuzzi are just some of the nice touches Michele supplied. Very, very comfortable! Beautifully decorated! Nothing missing, and Michele responds to all requests right away.

Loved California Dreamin'

Perfect place above Carmel. Michele has made the suite feel so cosy. Very clean, huge bathroom, wonderful bed and homemade cookies, coffee and orange juice waiting for us. I just wanted to lounge on the balcony all day. Next time I am going to enjoy the suite more and visit the sights less. Thank you Michele for sharing your forever home with us.

Paradise in Paradise

Hesitant to let everyone know how good this place is. Really want to keep it our little secret. Accommodations were spotless. Unit is stocked with anything you may need. From toiletries to pots and pans. Coffee, OJ, cookies and wine. Location was excellent, just a short walk into the town of Carmel. Hostess (Michele) was lovely, welcoming, and a good source of info for the area. Already California Dreamin' about returning someday........

If we could give ten (or 20) stars we would!

All the five star reviews on here are absolute truth! This place has it all and Michele goes out of her way to ensure that every need or want is met before you even think of it (she even made sure our cookies got restocked when we mentioned we had scarfed them all) Location is awesome, apartment adorable, amenities abundant, hosts superb... We loved every moment and, since we have fallen in love with the area, I know we will be back as soon as we can! Thank you so much for sharing your space with us - Big Sur Marathon 2019 is looking more attractive all the time :-)

Fantastic studio close to town. Charming in every way.

This was a very cozy and attractive studio apartment, with everything you need to have a very pleasant stay. Michele and Bob are wonderful hosts, and they go out of their way in terms of paying attention to all the details. We would highly recommend Bijou if you are lucky enough to visit the incredibly charming Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Peace and a beautiful setting!

We recently stayed at this delightful studio in Carmel. Michelle has thought of everything and it is super clean, well stocked and beautifully decorated. The balcony was wonderful and the thoughtful placement of juice, coffee, fruit and cookies was much appreciated. Michelle is a wonderful host. We have stayed in a number of places and this is one of the best. Quiet, beautiful, serene, a close walk to town and charming hosts. We will definitely go back. It was exactly what we needed and we are so grateful to Michelle for all that she has done to make Toujours Maison an oasis.

The property was great! Very well kept with a great location. Lots of extras.

Michele and Bob were wonderful hosts. We spent eight nights with them and didn't want to leave! The upstairs apartment has a full kitchen, heated floors, a balcony with barbecue, full shower and bath with jets! It's about a 20 minute walk to downtown Carmel with lots of very good restaurants. The beaches are great for walking and the sunsets from the balcony are wonderful. We will certainly stay again.

Great and Cosy location in the Carmel woods.

A friend and I just returned from a 10 day stay in Carmel and were lucky to find Michele's "special place" in the Carmel Woods. Accommodation were great! Cosy, clean and very comfortable. Homemade bread, cookies, fruit and wine were waiting for us and greatly enjoyed. (Thanks again Michele). The setting is so beautiful with lovely gardens. We loved listening to the many wind chimes dancing to the wind's breeze as we relaxed and had a glass of wine (or two) on the deck. Carmel is such a special place to visit and Michele & Bob's place is part of the special charm!!!! Wish I was still there. Can't wait for my next visit! W. Robertson Canada

Perfect 5 !

This really is "home away". Everything the listing says is true, EXCEPT ..... that there is even more ! It seems that everything one could possibly need for a comfortable stay has been provided for in advance -- and the owners and hosts really genuinely care about making one's stay a very positive experience. We hope to return ASAP.

Truly lovely!

Thank you Michelle for a most magical 2 week retreat. Every inch of this place exudes your charm!

Michelle's incredible taste and attention to detail made for the most relaxing and happiest stay I've had on my journey. The location was perfect to enjoy the whole peninsula. I will most definitely return and now count Michelle as a friend!

great property, awesome location

We had a wonderful stay. Michele was very helpful with her recommendations during our stay for breakfast, lunch and dinner and hiking trails. Situated within walking distance of the to downtown Carmel. Apartment has all of the essentials plus a great price during Concours D'Elegance week! Thank you. Definitely will be back.

Charming and Perfect!

My husband and I spent 2 weeks at this lovely apartment. It was absolutely amazing! Michele has truly thought of everything to make your stay as perfect as possible. The location is great, close to town and the beach. We had a wonderful time exploring and photographing Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. We were honestly sad to leave!!! Can't wait to come back someday. Thanks so much again!!!

Simply Delightful!

I spent a wonderful and restful week in Michele's charming studio. The location is perfect, the property beautiful - with every detail just right! A great size, yet still cozy and incredibly comfortable. The owners have thought of everything and seem to bask in going beyond the call to make your stay Simply Delightful! It's been a few weeks since I've returned and I'm still talking about how much I enjoyed my time in Carmel -by -the -Sea. I can't wait to return! Charming Apartment & Delightful Hospitality!

We couldn't have been more pleased by our stay and the wonderful hospitality of our hosts. The apartment is clean and well appointed with clearly thoughtful touches by people who travel themselves. It was most comfortable and quiet and well decorated. It is delightful in the architectural details and how everything is so neatly and efficiently fit into the space. Wonderfully superb bathroom! The bed is situated under skylights and eyemasks are provided for those who are light sensitive- not a problem for us. The added convenience of laundry availability was helpful, as were the breakfast items and snacks to get us going. We enjoyed the 20 minute walk into town through the neighborhood, and the map detailing the route. Along with restaurant recommendations and activities all was much appreciated and well done. A really nice perk were the aquarium passes for us to use, thank you for that and the other recommendations you shared. Enjoyed the flea market too! The walk along the coast at the Pt. Lobos Reserve was pretty spectacular! We also visited the Tor House and caught a guided tour by chance (it is only open 2 days-reservations required & limited) and thoroughly enjoyed learning about this little gem and the author who built it with views of the ocean and a picturesque cottage garden and tower with a secret stairway. The guide was outstanding. Michele herself is an absolutely delightful person, truly helpful and positive. She is a lovely and perfect hostess and innkeeper. We do look forward to coming back and have shared our experiences with family and friends.

Bijou at Toujours Maison was more a treat for us

Bijou was a compact unit that is ideal for an intimate stay in the Carmel area. Michele has made an extra effort to provide all amenities for guests. Her special touches with the decor makes the living space comfortable & fun. Michele & Bob are both wonderful hosts with many suggestions for a delightful time visiting the greater Carmel/Monterey/Big Sur area. We are both unreserved in our recommendations to consid Toujours Maison to anyone traveling to Carmel.

Perfect Get-a-way in Carmel

This apartment was perfect for us. We strolled around Carmel and the beach a lot, but it was great to come back to a full kitchen to warm things up and have a glass of wine. The master bath is fabulous, whether you like steam showers or relaxing in a Jacuzzi tub! The balcony was great to be able to test the weather and see the beautiful gardens that our host has created. The best part for us was the added bonus of a single bed in separate room, for my husband of 40 years who is a snorer. I got the the big bed in the sitting room:)

Hospitality Plus

We have traveled the world, stayed in many hotels and B&B's and the hospitality shown to us here is unmatched! Michele is gracious, warm and welcoming as is this place is charming. She was very helpful in planning our day to day activities and her recommendations were spot on which made our trip easy and stress free. A lot of love and care was put into this apartment and no detail was left out...everything you need is within reach. If you're looking to relax, rejuvenate and just get away from it all, this is the place to do it! I will recommend to all my friends, family and everyone I meet!

The Best in Carmel

This place is a dream and I feel so lucky to have found it. It's beautiful, comfortable and peaceful. The location is nestled into a hillside, the rural scenery is like a painting. The accommodations has every convenience and is beautifully decorated and soothing to the senses. The hosts are a reflection of all that this place is. I don't think I could stay anywhere else when I'm in Carmel.

Unbelieveable!

This place was unbelievable! The apartment was beautifully decorated for the holidays, it was warm, charming and equipped with every convenience of home and some...like a stair lift, heated towel rack, heated bathroom floor, a balcony but the topper was the view of the moon through the skylight above the bed was an unbelievable surprise. The hosts are a reflection of how wonderful this place is and we can't wait to go back!

Le Bijou is a jewel!

This is a very private apartment located on a wooded hillside in Carmel. The owner set the mood with a welcome of fresh baked bread, cookies, snacks and wine. The apartment itself is very nicely furnished, with a spacious studio that has a lovely seating area and a comfortable queen bed, with a very a large bathroom with a wonderful shower & jacuzzi tub. There is a small bedroom off the main living area with a single bed perfect for your partner who snores. It has its a lovely deck with lounge chairs facing a beautiful wooded area to enjoy a sip of wine in the evening and breakfast in the morning. There are many things to do in Carmel, and although the house is on a hill a ways from the center of Carmel it is a nice walk through the lovely residential streets (just be ready for a good uphill hike to return). The owner had a book in the apartment with her recommendations for activities and dining, and was very helpful with additional suggestions. We also had a wonderful day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium - the passes that the owner provides are a real plus! The owner has obviously put a lot of thought and care into the selection of furnishings and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. We loved the privacy of the wooded site, and look forward to returning to this lovely place.

We are Bob & Michele, between the two of us we have lived in over 30 different cities, apartments, and houses but we have finally found the home we plan to stay in forever so we called our home Forever House or in French, Toujours Maison and this is the jewel (le Bijou) of our house.
