  • Stay on Balboa Island

"We had a wonderful 7 week stay at this nice property on Balboa Island. The house is large and comfortable and sleeps several people. The location is very convenient to the Ferry and to a little store with a take-out restaurant. We enjoyed walking around the island each morning and evening. The owners are extremely nice and accommodating. Very enjoyable and relaxing."

  • Great Location and Spacious House

"I was happy with the size of the property and the location is perfect. It's very close to Marine Avenue where all the fun shops and Balboa bars are. If you have more than one car, parking is a little challenging. The management company was very organized in getting our information to us about arrival procedures. The internet worked pretty well and the televisions are nice. The pros are the garage (for one car), the bikes that are included, the Pac Man/Galaga game, lots of space, washer and dryer, nice outdoor seating areas, the location, and new dishwasher. The cons are that the furniture is so old and worn out. It looks too dirty to sit on. I tried to make a Thanksgiving dinner, but the kitchen isn't equipped for it. No pie plate, no mixer of any kind, really cheap cooke sheets and worn out cutting boards. The kitchen is large, but needs additional equipment. The refrigerator froze some of our food. The big outdoor trash cans were ¾ full when we arrived and when I emailed the management company about it, they didn't respond in time to do anything about it. They did allow us to just leave the trash, which worked out. There's no soap/shampoo provided in the showers and bring a sleep mask! I would recommend this property, but would have to warn that the living room furniture is in desperate need of replacing."

  • perfect location!

"We stayed just before Christmas, the place was great. Loved the rooftop deck, and was well equipped. Best part about it is the location, literally walk to everything. Great having a garage a a parking spot as well. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and we would definitely stay again! Actually would like to go back now!"

  • Old School Balboa Island Charm

"We were at the tail end of a house remodel and intended to stay here a week. But as many house remodel delays go, we stayed here for a full month. We REALLY liked this house. It worked well for our family of five (16, 14, and 10 year old kids). It has beach cottage charm. Everything worked great. Below is a quick list of pros and cons: Pros: Clean and beautiful and everything worked Parking (driveway) - This cannot be overstated. You can usually find a spot on the street but with two cars it was nice to know that there was always a spot for one of us to park in the driveway. Backyard - This is one of the few houses on the island with a full size backyard. We celebrated a birthday in the backyard with 19 people and it was great. Location - It is only three houses from the beach. We were able to transport our kayaks and paddle boards to the beach with relative ease. It is also only two blocks from main street and convenient for after dinner Balboa Bar/Frozen Banana runs. Last, the location makes it pretty easy to get on and off the island pretty quickly. Owner/Manager - We had a few correspondences with both the owner and property manager. They are both wonderful and accommodating. Cons (these were not a big deal for our family but they are worth noting): Stairs - The stairs are moderately narrow. However, they have handrails on either side that make it easier to get up for us older folks. Bathroom - There are two bathrooms. There is one bathroom upstairs that is a jack and jill bathroom to two bedrooms. That bathroom only has a bathtub (no shower). The bathroom downstairs has a shower and it is a good shower. In conclusion, we loved this house. It still has the beach cottage feel. It is not a ritzy house with sub zero refrigerators and viking ovens. However, it is clean, comfortable, and an overall great place."
