  • Best POOL home w/BEACH proximity

"Cathy & I enjoyed our stay at Desert Rose. The home is amazing, well maintained & beautifully decorated. The beds are comfortable and the space is huge. The outside area is a great place to relax and enjoy time, any time of the day or night. The screened in lanai keeps out the critters and the bugs at bay. The BEACH!!! The BEST PART for our experience was the provided BEACH CART which allowed us to haul all our gear with little effort to the beach. The beach itself is an excellent area which is only 2 blocks away, or actually 7 houses from the driveway!!!  The beach has direct access at the end of the street. No need to go ‘down the way’ to get to the beach. Just walked out – onto the sand *with a foot wash right there* and enjoy the water immediately. Our 9# MinPin, Leo, enjoyed the stay. The walks along the neighborhood and up and down the beach in search of Gulf/Ocean treasures left by the gentle waves is something he misses dearly (as do we). Being that we live on the East Coast near the ocean, we don’t have a local area where dogs are permitted to be on the beach. KEEP IN MIND, Dogs ARE allowed on LEE County beaches, as long as they are on a leash (and bring a bag in case (s)he does their business). With Publix close by, it was GREAT to get to Desert Rose without a lot of food baggage to haul. We went next door and stocked up our NEST with supplies and stock. There is a GREAT kitchen with about EVERYTHING you’d need there for your use. The LEMON/CITRUS press there was magnificent, once I googled how to use it.  The POOL is EXCELLENT in being so clean and refreshing (AND HEATED TOO!!!). The deck area around the pool is greatly decorated and relaxing to enjoy. We were surprised to learned that the owner lives on-site (as the live-in Super, as he said it) in a ground floor addition, but once we realized we had privacy and seclusion at the home, it was relaxing and enjoyable. We DID miss the performance Skip does at a local establishment Sunday morning, but look forward to watching him play his music on our next visit. **Oh, did I tell you? We BOOKED our NEXT vacation in November, before we left for home to the East Coast. Thank You Skip, for sharing your home with us on our bi-annual vacations in 2016. PEACE & Be Safe"

  • Sunset Paradise-Second Time Around

"We booked the July 4th, 2016 week at this property back in July of 2015. Having spent a week there in the summer of 2014, we knew what was waiting for us and, at times, it seemed as though this year would never pass. I am happy to report that this year's experience was as terrific as expected. First of all, this house has a new genuine "summerlike" appearance with the new siding and blue roof. It really stands out when you view it from the beach. And, as for the amenities; they are still as advertised. Six adults and four grandkids made up our party and with the four bedrooms and private bath for each, everyone had plenty of space and privacy. It was immaculate when we arrived and the cleaning crew was arriving to ready it for the next set of guests as we departed. I counted 176 steps from the front porch across the sand beach to the edge of the Gulf of Mexico. The area has had some bad publicity as of late with regards to the Blue-Green Toxic alge but there was none to be found anywhere on the beach or even in Estero Bay behind the property. Several "locals" said that what little there was working it's way across the state was still a good distance away from Ft Myers and not expected to impact the area. The water was as warm, clear and inviting as ever. The kids spent hours in the pool. It was actually difficult to drag them away from the place to go sight seeing and the like. Sunsets haven't changed either - spectacular right over the water towards Sanibel Island. Only wish they could have lasted a bit longer each evening. We rented a pontoon boat on Estero Bay, took a boat tour out near Sanibel Island, ate out, cooked at the house both in the kitchen and on the outside grill, walked the beach, swam, went shelling; you name it. There are numerous restaurants on Ft Myers Beach itself and nearby - less than 15 minutes away in Bonita Springs. Your are maybe five minutes away from a fully stocked grocery store. Your parking at the house in plentiful-we had three cars-and off the road. It's difficult to even see the adjacent houses although they are steps away. All in all, our group of ten had a fabulous week. We will be back. We didn't want to leave. You won't want to either."

  • Awesome condo!

"We loved your condo! It was just perfect for our family! Lots of room and very nice furnishings. Beautiful area to stay. Close to the beach and lots of local restaurants. Very quiet, never heard anything from the other people staying there in the condo building! Pool was very nice! It was also very nice being able to park our car inside the garage when it was raining! Hope to be back again sometime."

  • #FMB2016

"My family stayed here for 8 nights, this home is well kept! Everything is clean and very comfortable. When you look around at the 2 other rentals in front and back this home looks the best on the outside as well. This is a very large home and has 3 air conditioners which made it wonderful for us to be on 2 different levels of the house. The house is equipped with tons of bath towels which is very nice. Having 4 full bathrooms we never had to wait on anyone to get out of one. Power went out on us 1 evening when a rain storm blew through and the house is equipped with emergency lights, this was quite impressive! You can see the owners care about their home and their guest! The pool is not a regular size pool, it only is 5' deep but we loved it especially me since I'm only 5' tall and my grandson was extremely confident in it. The walk through the nature preserve was a little intimidating at first but then we got used to it. It varies in water depth according to the tides. I recommend this house to anyone with a large group, you will never be on top of each other! The only recommendations I would make is to take out some of the bulky furniture downstairs and the house would be that much roomier! When we return to Fort Myers Beach we will definitely be looking to stay at this house again!!!"
