I own vacation rental property in Cancun, I have worked in Cancun, and I take a strong personal interest in each & every unit I manage in Cancun. Almost every picture you see of any one of the rentals or at any one of the resorts was taken by myself personally. I believe that I offer some services & items that currently keep us a head of our competition. These things may appear small on the surface, but I would offer for your consideration the thought that excellence can often be found in the details. For example, if you are traveling with small children, you will find a packnplay (play-pen & sleeper), a high chair & a quality stroller on hand. Or, if you would like to enjoy your favorite drinks down by the pool or beach we welcome you to use the special cooler you will find in any of our units. It is on wheels, super easy to take with you and is also very handy as a pool or beachside table. The convenience might only be outshined by the savings on drinks! This item has been pre-approved for use by the resort, when you are staying at one of our vacation rentals.

Lastly, it's important to know you are in good hands once you arrive to Cancun. Being a small company, I work with a small, tight knit group of terrific people in Cancun that are there for you, our guests. I can arrange for a trip to the Super Walmart grocery store early on in your stay if you like, which saves you money. (there are no grocery stores in the hotel zone-only convenience stores). The cost for this service is $40 & is paid directly to whomever takes you shopping. Everyone in our group in Cancun speaks terrific English and are among the nicest people I have ever known. If you have a need for babysitting services? If so, we can help. Would you like some real Mexican culture? I can arrange to send a professional chef to cook & clean up for you, & at very reasonable prices.

    • Air Conditioning : 3 AC Units keep it as chilly as you like, especially at night for sleeping

    • Covered Parking : In the event you want to rent a car, two covered parking spaces are provided. Both are marked #1604. Many people ask, "should I rent a car" when I come. You really do not need to. You won't use it much. The buses run 24/7 and you never have to wait. The taxis are also omnipresent in this part of Cancun. But you are certainly more than welcome if you wish and the spaces are there for you should you decide to rent a car or cars.

    • King Bed (2) : Each bedroom with the king bed in the bedroom has it's own luxury private bathroom and shower & plenty of closet space. Each of these bedrooms also has a 37" flat screen TV with satellite, MP3 stereo system, DVD player, and nice linens and pillows.
    • Queen Bed (4) : 2 of the 5 bedrooms have a pair of queen beds. Each of these bedrooms has it's own luxury private bathroom and shower & plenty of closet space. Each of these bedrooms also has a 37" flat screen TV with satellite, MP3 stereo system, DVD player, and nice linens and pillows.
    • Double Bed : This is the only bedroom that has no view and is very small. However, it does have it's own bathroom with shower, AC, 37" flat screen TV, MP3 stereo, DVD player, ceiling fan, and a nice little couch that easily converts to a double bed.
    • Crib : Packnplay is a fold out play pen that is nice for infants and small children to relax and sleep in.

    • Private Hot Tub : On the main terrace near one of the king bedrooms is a nice jacuzzi right outside over-looking the ocean.
    • Shared Hot Tub : Nice large hot tub located in the spa area of the resort. Also enjoy massages here for $50 for 50 minutes. Worth every second!
    • Cable/Satellite TV (7) : Each of the 5 bedrooms plus the kitchen bar area have 37" flat screen Tvs with satellite. The Living room has a 50" flat screen plasma unit.

    • Music Library : There is an MP3 stereo system in each of the bedrooms and in the living room. You can bring your MP3 library of songs and place it in the cradle of the stereo in any area and you set to listen to YOUR favorite music any time you want.

Of course the kitchen also has a nice fridge, stove, and dishwasher. The stove also has a plate that runs across the center which is great for flat grille type cooking like scrambled eggs, steak and cheese sandwiches, etc.

    • If you enjoy snorkeling or fishing, one of our managers in Cancun, Mike, can take you on a private tour for much less than tour operators would charge. Mike's family has been in the fishing business for many generations. He now offers fishing and snorkeling private tours. Tours run about 5 to 6 hours, & include lunch on a private island. Plus Mike takes you where the tour operators don't so it's very peaceful and relaxing and just beautiful. His boat is shaded and seats up to 14. For reservations of 6 or more, price is $55 cash paid directly to Mike.

Why the Owner Chose Portofino

The greatest positive that came out of this whole project was it introduced us to one of the finest person's I'm sure I will ever know. His name is Mike (Miguel). Mike helped with the construction from beginning to end. He ultimately became my manager in Cancun and will always be, as long as he desires. What a gem of a man. I get emails raving about his service and how much he meant to peoples vacation, truly, all the time.
It is so refreshing. His family has been in the fishing business for many generations. Now they take tourists fishing or snorkeling. And rest assured, when you stay with us, you get the Royal treatment plus better pricing than any tour company by far if you decide to go out with Mike on the boat for a day. His boat seats up to 14 and it's an experience I highly recommend.

In the end, after the hurricane and the massive renovation, we were able to create a truly “standout” luxurious condo for guests to enjoy. I was diligent in renting out the condo via the inter-net. That was my job as my brother is our families first doctor and he is much too busy. After a while, the condo stayed booked nearly all the time. Other owners began to approach me to rent their places in Cancun but I would usually decline. We had put so much time and effort into creating a wonderful beachfront condo. If other owners did not have or were not willing to put many of the same quality standards into their units, I didn’t want to rent them to guests.

Hi, I’m Tim Miller.

When I first discussed renting this unit for the owner, it was empty and white walls were everywhere (I don't care for white on walls). What you see in the pictures is after I did quite a bit of work. Such as adding custom lighting, furnishings, & new paint & decor. Following is my story. How I began renting and managing upper end condos in Cancun. Thank you. Tim Miller

My brother and I first purchased our condo in Cancun in 2004. (not the unit you see here) We were excited. It needed improvement and we did the best we could on a limited budget. At the time, financing wasn’t an option for existing condos, so it was a major stretch. Shortly after completing the work, Cancun suffered it’s worst hurricane ever, hurricane Wilma in 2005. Everything inside the condo was destroyed.

We stretched even further and borrowed against everything we had to put everything back together again. Hurricane insurance is so expensive that in the long run you are better off putting the money you would pay for the premium into a savings account. However, in this case it was the short run so boy did we learn. We put our “nose to the grindstone” and we ended up making what we consider outstanding improvements to the condo. Fantastic Week In Cancun

We just returned from spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Cancun. The condo is everything you see in the pictures - clean, well stocked with essentials for cooking meals, rooming and of course - fantastic views of the beach and bay. The location is great for walking to shopping and restaurants as well as night clubs and other entertainment. One very pleasant surprise was the on-site property manager - Miguel. He was there to great us when we arrived. Made sure we were comfortable with all aspects of the condo and surrounding area and helped us with shopping for food. Additionally he took our entire family out for a full day snorkeling near Isla Mujeres (an island just off the coast of Cancun) at a very reasonable cost. Everything worked in the condo, it was comfortable, safe and made for a fantastic week in Cancun for our family. I would highly recommend it !

Stayed July 24 thru July 31, 2010. The view is breathtaking and the Mexican caretaker really tried given his resources, beyond that you should spend your hard earned money elsewhere! Jacuzzi was broken majority of the stay, it was known before hand because we didn't call for maintenance yet someone showed up to "repair it". We repeatedly had issues with running water, hot water, lounge chairs obviously broken before our arrival, toilet repaired with dental floss eventually broke completely, unable to reach condo manager because phone didn't have enough minutes, some electrical outlets didn't work and one that did zapped my wife, and satellite service was random. The amount of stress added to our group by these issues ruined the trip so much I left a day early. We stay at plenty of upscale sites in Mexico and found that this condo did not come close to meeting expectations based on price. Of course there was an excuse for everything......DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS CONDO!

Owner response:I was shocked and deeply disappointed when I read the review for the stay of July 24-31. My manager Mike called me on July 27 at 3:45pm to inform me that the tradesman had been out to 1604 that day working on the jacuzzi unit. That same day Alex (A.C.) called me at 7:15pm to let me know about the jacuzzi. I let Alex know that I had spoken with Mike a few hours earlier. Alex seemed happy to know I was assessed of the matter and he did not mention or ask about anything else he noted in his review. I called Mike after seeing this review to go over each point for clarification. Here is what I learned. "It was known before hand...": When Mike was called by Alex about the jacuzzi, it was the first he had heard about the matter. It turns out that the previous guests had discovered the problem and rather than calling Mike they had called Porto Fino maintenance. It states clearly on all Final Confirmations to call my manager in Cancun if you should need anything. So Alex assumed we knew beforehand but we did not. "issues with running water, hot water..." Running water was always available. Hot water was not available on one occasion because the guests had slid the master windows wide open during very windy conditions which caused the pilot light to go out. They called Mike and it was fixed right away. The strong wind conditions would also account for the "random satellite service". "toilet repaired with dental floss": Mike had a same day departure the day these guests arrived. After going through his check list one of the flushing mechanisms was broken. With no time to run into town, Mike used fishing line as a temporary fix. Many guests go out with Mike on his boat as these guests did as well. This is why Mike would have fishing line on hand. Mike should have made the guests aware immediately & let them know he needed to return to properly fix the device. "unable to reach condo manager": On the Final Confirmation it states clearly: How to dial Mike by Mexican cell, by land line, by non Mexican cell. The guest could have simply phoned Mike from the land line in the condo. It's unfortunate. I can't force folks to read the information contained in the confirmation. "lounge chairs, outlets": When Mike was asked about this, he assured me there are no broken lounge chairs. "outlets": Mike is unaware any non-working or problematic outlets. He agreed to have an electrician come in to check every outlet, and fix if necessary. Tim Miller

Wonderful location and Miguel made the trip for us!

6 girlfriends traveled from 4 different cities for 5 days in Cancun to celebrate 2 birthdays. The location of Portofino was amazing and we can not say enough wonderful things about Miguel. He was there to greet the first person that arrived and checked on us daily. We also joined him one day on his boat where we had our own private tour of the Isle of Women and he cooked us lunch. The pool was great and the waiter Freddie was fun and quick to serve. The food by the pool was very well priced. We also enjoyed a lunch at Carlos and Charlies. Dinner out at a seafood place within walking distance recommended by Miguel was the highlight of the trip (It started with a L). The unit was nice and when we had an issue with one of the fans Miguel had someone over the same day.
