Gorham's Bluff is has been called one of the most romantic spots in Alabama. The perfect weekend retreat, Gorham's Bluff is an easy drive from Birmingham, Atlanta, Huntsville or Chattanooga.
(Be sure to note our special winter rates. Summer -$175.00 per night from 03/01 through 09/30. From October - February - our rates are $165.00 per night. In addition, during those months of October - February, except for holidays,when you book two nights you receive a 3rd night at no additional cost. )
The view of the Tennessee River from behind the lodge in this community is spectacular, and the sunsets there are amazing.
This beautifully decorated, spacious and comfortable 2 bedroom cottage was completed in early 2008. It is across the street from the bluff, and has TWO very private KING MASTER SUITES on opposite sides of the house. With pine floors and 10 ft. ceilings, it's perfect for a getaway weekend for one or two couples. Both suites have king sized beds with pillow top mattresses, feather bed toppers and 100% cotton sheets.
Both baths feature slate tile floors, separate showers and double pedestal sinks. The front bath suite contains a claw foot tub and the back suite has a jetted whirlpool tub.
French doors in the rear suite open onto the deck.
The fully equipped kitchen features stainless appliances, granite tile surfaces and all the gadgets -- blender, microwave, toaster, mixer and coffee maker. If you wish to leave the cooking to a chef, Gorham's Bluff Lodge is a 5 minute walk away, and serves wonderful gourmet meals in it's lovely dining room. Reservations are required.
An extensive book selection is contained on the hall shelves and a wide ranging choice of DVD's are in the buffet beside the entrance way.
Even though Gorham's Bluff is a quiet community, you won't be bored, unless that's your aim. Borrow bikes from the main lodge and tour the town, swim in the community pool in the summer, or go down the walkway beneath the bluff. Or you can escape with a book from the shelf in the hall and while away the afternoon in a rocking chair on the front porch.
Outside the community of Gorham's Bluff, many attractions are just a short drive away. Explore the nearby Pisgah Gorge in Pisgah, DeSoto Falls and Little River Canyon, near Mentone, Russell Cave National Monument near Bridgeport, Buck's Pocket State Park and the Bald Eagle colony at Lake Guntersville near Guntersville. Other attractions are the Sauta Bat Cave, the Walls of Jericho, and don't forget the Tennessee Aquarium just up the road in Chattanooga.
Unclaimed Baggage is also located nearby in Scottsboro.

My husband and I just returned home from a wonderful three-day weekend at Gorham's Bluff. The house is beautiful and the pictures are accurate. The house is very large with a great kitchen and a lot of room to lounge. The house was very clean and well maintained. Excellent linens and comfortable bed. It was very peaceful and quiet. The area is beautiful and we took several long walks around the bluff and also drove into Mentone for the day to hike. A great VRBO listing! I would definately recommend to friends. The only suggestion I would make would be to add a IPOD dock somewhere in the house and maybe some hooks to hang damp towels in the porchside bath. The owner was quick in responding to any and all questions that I had during the process.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+.

We stayed in this beautiful home for Spring Break last year. We absolutely loved it!! It was one of our best vacations by far. My children had the best time. We all are hoping to go back this year and take my precious new husband!! he wants to see what we have been raving about.Recommended for: Families with young children.

My mother and I spent the weekend at this beautiful home, and it was wonderful! The community is very quiet with spectacular views from the bluff. We went to nearby Mentone and had lunch at the Wildflower Cafe which I highly recommend. The house is very roomy with lots of natural light and an open floor plan. I loved the big, comfy feather beds that are in both rooms. My mother fell in love with the claw foot bath tub as well. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us and I look forward to visiting again in the future :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+.

For a truly relaxing and romantic vacation, you need to try Gorham's Bluff. My husband and I stayed at this home over Valentine's Weekend for four nights. We had a GREAT time! We have been going to Gorhams Bluff on and off for years, always staying at the Lodge. We discovered the Bluff in Southern Living Magazine back in the 90's. This was the first time to rent a home and we loved it, so much room and privacy. It is well maintained and fully stocked with everything you need for your say. We felt like we had the whole Bluff to ourselves and what a treat that was, totally relaxing and private. We enjoyed the small waterfall with a picnic table in the background, what a great place for a picnic lunch. This home has a great set-up and is a good location for accessing the bluff and going to the Lodge for dinner. The Lodge has a wonderful romantic dinner with candlelight, every evening and is worth going to for that special occassion. This home is great for one couple or even two couples and has all the amenities needed for a great stay. We enjoyed the movies and music cd's and the overall cozy feel of this home. The beds are so comfortable and you feel like you are staying at a five star hotel. The owners are great to deal with and make the whole process easy. This trip made us realize how much we value relaxation and we thank the Burn's for making this home available to the rest of the world.....we will be back!!!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I really enjoyed our 20th anniversary stay. The house was beautiful, comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, lots of great DVD's to choose from, and the Christmas tree was a wonderful touch for a December visit! We enjoyed walking around the Gorham's Bluff neighborhood and just sitting to enjoy the gorgeous bluff views. It was a close drive to enjoy Little River Falls, Desoto Falls, and a lunch/antiquing stop in Mentone. What a wonderful cozy house to come back to for relaxing. Thank you for sharing your cottage!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This property and location is amazing. Our family stayed here the week before Christmas and had such a wonderful time. The house is so nice (the pictures do not do it justice). It is decorated beautifully and has everything you need for a great time away from home. By the way the beds are so comfortable it is worth going here just for the good nights sleep. This house sits right in the middle of this wonderful community where you can take walks, hikes, ride bikes (that are there at the community center for your use). It is a beautiful place to take photos. It is the perfect place to get away from the busy city life and just relax. The Lodge in Gorhams Bluff has a wonderful restaurant for dinner as well. There are several local attractions nearby in Mentone (Cloudmont Snow skiing), Scottsboro (Unclaimed Baggage) and Ft Payne (outdoor adventures - rock climbing, cave exploration, sky swings and zip lines). I would also recommend this to any couple looking to get away for a romantic weekend.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Wow! This is a spectacular cottage in a very peaceful setting. The cottage is beautifully decorated and the layout is great. The 2 king suites are spacious and the beds are simply the most comfortable I've ever experienced! The kitchen has everything you could think of and is open to the living room and dining room. Just off the kitchen is a great back deck. We enjoyed being able to walk out to the bluff across the street and also being so close to the lodge. We loved staying in this home Valentine's weekend!! It is serene and architecturally perfect! We walked the bluff on the nature trail and borrowed bikes (free) from the community center. LOVED the fireplace too. Cant wait to visit in Spring to fish and see the beautiful mountainside! We love Gorhams Bluff and this FABULOUS house! What a great secret!Did you find this review helpful? Why the Owner Chose Pisgah:
Gorham's Bluff is really restful place. It's so quiet here, and that's one of the reasons we built our cottage here. It's also close to so many other wonderful locations such as Little River Canyon, Guntersville Lake and the eagle colony there, and Desoto Falls. We love spending time here.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
While we were planning the house, our architect, Christopher Sides, who is well acquainted with Gorham's Bluff, managed to capture the serenity we envisioned in the dwelling itself. Our builder, Tim Evans, also was able to steer us in the right direction with materials that lent themselves to the same atmosphere of tranquility. We chose furnishings that are comfortable and pleasing to the eye, so that our guests will leave refreshed and relaxed.
