Try and imagine the perfect holiday paradise for two with no other "hidden" cottages/apartments to share the pool and garden ... well, this is it!

Les Petites Ouldes, offers you part of a wing of a wonderful manor, set in the heart of châteaux country (less than 2 km away from its crowning jewel, Chenonceaux) where you can relax to your hearts' content.

Valerie will welcome you warmly on your arrival and leaves you a light supper with wine as well as your first French breakfast basics. After that, all you need to do is relax and enjoy the many delights in this part of the world: châteaux, restaurants, wonderful open markets and bakeries, delightful villages and churches, wine tasting, golf or whatever grabs you! Or you may just wish to stay put on your own private terrace or by the pool to read, paint or lounge in the secluded 5 acre garden. Impressive towns such as Tours, Angers, Sancerre and Poitiers are all within a couple of hours' drive.

At certain times of the year there are fabulous music festivals, also ... shopping is always good, in elegant and bustling Tours - only 40 minutes away.

Valerie lives in the main part of the house and is only too happy to give advice and help, but will never invade your privacy. In the eight years of renting, many couples have returned year in and year out and are now good friends, the Visitors' book bears witness to this.

If you wish, and if the season is right - you can buy organic vegetables from Valerie's garden, she will also be happy to cook a meal that you may eat with her, as 'table d'hôte' or in the intimacy of your own accommodation. She also gives inspiring cooking lessons and will prepare dishes from fresh produce for you if you don't feel like cooking.

Booking is by weekly periods, Wednesday to Wednesday, and is for two people only. You can reach Les Petites Ouldes by car, train and car hire and Ryan Air flies from Stansted UK to Tours where you can hire a car.

Regrettably, pets, children and smokers are not admitted.

  • Our stay in the Loire Valley exceeded our high expectations in every way and our stay with Valerie was superb. She is kindness personified and genuinely cares about the comfort of her guests. The gite is well furnished and appointed and most comfortable for 2-4 persons. I can only imagine how delightful it would be in the summer to laze by the pool and enjoy dining al freco on the private patio. We feel very pleased to have found Les Petites Ouldes and hope to return in the future. It is a lovely place under the stewardship of a delightful individual and provides an excellent base to explore the Loire chateaux and vineyards.

  • One of the better places we've been. The host, Valerie, welcomed us with many delicate attentions.The gite was spacious, clean and functional. The environment with the gardens, orchard, flower gardens and vineyard was simply gorgeous. Highly recommend this place.

  • Smaller than a chateau but bigger than a farmhouse this gite has vines, fruit trees, a vegetable garden, a swimming pool, and lots of peace and quiet. We especially enjoyed the walled terrace outside the apartment where we had dinner each evening made from the local produce that we found in the markets. A very enjoyable week. Bill and Lynda Toronto

  • This is an amazing bit of heaven situated in the beautiful French countryside. It's an easy 2-3 hr car ride from Paris, well marked by road signs. I suggest you get a car; in 30 min to 2 hrs we drove to lovely castles, breathtaking gardens, local markets (like flea markets in the US but with great stuff!), forests for hiking and picnicking and of course, the picturesque villages that dot the countryside. The apartment and grounds are perfect. No exaggeration in the description. It feels spacious and sunny. Great comfy bed. Finally, it's delightful to visit a place where you feel you are a guest, rather than a business booking. I can not imagine a better place to stay.

  • What a magnificent stay! Valerie was a wonderful hostess. My sister and I loved the meal left upon our arrival - it was perfect after our drive from Troyes. The additional meal Valerie prepared was nothing short of gourmet and the conversation was delightful. We found touring the chateau's, wineries or just shopping was easy and quite convenient. Overall, this was the highlight of our trip around France. THANK YOU!
