Adorable & Historic Tie Hack Cabin has outside sitting area to enjoy Mtn. Views
Location: Dubois, Wyoming, USA (50 Miles to Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks!)
Accommodations: Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Den, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
HISTORY BUFFS & BACKCOUNTRY EXPLORERS!
Come stay in a completely remodeled 75 year old cabin from Dubois' area tie hack history! Horse Creek is located on the property and Tie Hack Cabin visitors are welcome to enjoy the relaxing creek!
The tie tacks were Scandinavian woodsmen who lived in the surrounding Wind River Mountains from the 1910's-1940's, felling trees and hacking them into railroad ties, then floating the ties down the Wind River to Riverton, 75 miles distant, to the tie yards there.
Many people today hike into the local back country in search of remnants from this by-gone area. Sections of flumes & some cabins still stand in the mountains as a testament to these rugged, hard-working men. The Dubois Museum has a nice collection of Tie Hack artifacts & the Tie Hack Monument West of town is worth a visit.
This particular cabin was moved from the mountains many years ago and preserved. The cabin has been recently remodeled with a western theme and is ready to accommodate you! Upon entering the foyer/mudroom, one walks into a bedroom with a queen sized log bed and sitting area. A cozy den with a sleeper sofa & wing-back chair adjoins the bedroom. Both bedroom & den have t.v.'s with satellite service, telephone & wireless service for your personal computers. A small library is located in the cabin's sunroom with a nice collection of western books for the visitors' enjoyment. In front of the cabin is an outdoor sitting area underneath century old cottonwood trees. Guests are also welcome to use the sitting area along Horse Creek, which runs through the property.
The cabin is located only 1 block from historic downtown Dubois and is within walking distance to adorable shops and delicious restaurants. Close to all outdoor recreational destinations -- including Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks!
Cell phone service can be iffy in the high country, but unlike many rental cabins in our area, your cell phones should work fine in this location.
Boy, would those tie hacks of old think they were living in heaven if they walked into this quaint cabin today!

We totally enjoyed Dubois and the "tie-hack cabin". Thank you for all your help and tourist tips. We loved our trip - adventure - to the end of Horse Creek Road. We were awed by the natural wonders of God's creation in Wyoming. It was often a WOW from us. We were blessed this week in many ways!
