Location: Aix en Provence, Aix en Provence Area, Provence, France, Europe (Marseille Airport 20mn, Aix TGV/Train Station 15mn,Nice 2Hrs) View Map
Accommodations: Apartment, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath (Sleeps 7)
Beautiful, bright & spacious 3 bedroom loft style apartment, in classic 150 yr old Provencal building, in the famous 18th century Quartier Mazarin, seconds from the Cours Mirabeau, at the centre of Aix en Provence. Originally a carpenter's workshop or "atelier", it retains its original exposed oak beams and old advertising on its façade.
At 115 m.sq or 1250 sq.ft, the apartment has 3 double bedrooms, a large bathroom with bath & 2 sinks & separate toilet. The large open plan living/dining area is the heart of the apartment, with streams of sunlight crossing the space. The dining table & living area seats 8 and is overlooked by our bio-box herb garden of mint, sage, rosemary & more.
A low impact apartment, its orientation provides striking sunlight all day, yet its thick walls helps protect from the Provencal heat. Low energy and low water use features, as well as extensive use of antique and reclaimed furniture, helps keep the apartment in harmony with nature.
Founded by the Romans in 122 B.C. Aix en Provence is a very beautiful city of food markets, cafes, boulangeries, cathedral & churches, universities, student life, art exhibitions, public gardens & fountains & fabulous restaurants throughout its narrow cobbled streets.
French history & culture lovers can visit the ancient cites of Arles, Nimes, Avignon, St Remy & Orange. "Amateurs" of wine can tour vineyards & taste the rich reds of Chateau Neuf du Pape, refreshing roses of Bandol or even the excellent Henri Bardouin Pastis of Fourqualquier.
One can sunbathe, swim & hike nearby at the Calanques of Cassis or within 1-2 hrs drive east along the Cote Azur to Saint Tropez, Cannes, Antibes, Nice & Monaco or west to the Camargue national park, famous for its pink flamingos, bulls & cowboys.
From touring through Van Gogh's sunflowers at Arles, the lavender fields & perched villages in the Luberon National Park, hiking Cezanne's famous Mont Saint Victoire, rafting in the Gorges de Verdon to cycling your own Tour de France on Mont-Ventoux, Aix is the best location to begin touring Provence.
We offer a great place to stay here, for friends & family vacations & long stay guests seeking the more authentic. Assistance is provided in both English & French and a detailed guide to the locality is provided in the apartment for your enjoyment. We can also guarantee parking in a private garage nearby, on request.
Uniquely, we offer our guests one FREE local Airport or Train/TGV pick-up, plus we provide "Private Guided Tours" & "Chauffeur Services" throughout the reigon, helping you best experience the many great treasures that Provence has to offer.

Owner's Map of Aix en Provence
A 40 year old Irish transplant to Aix, I first visited friends here 12 years ago and the rest, is history. Living here 6 years, the sun, sea, countryside, history, food, language & the people never fail to delight and surprise. This photo is of one of my favourite tour hikes at En-Vau in the Calanques at Cassis.
