What a great find!

We were so happy to find Kitty's casita in Taos. It was charming, peaceful and extremely comfortable. The setting was gorgeous and we loved the bedroom loft with a view of the surrounding mountains and fantastic skies. The short walk/ride into the charming town of Arroyo Seco was fun as were the hiking trails in the area and the highlights of course were the hottub with views of stars in the evening and our son loved playing with Kitty's two sweet labradors. We would stay again in a heartbeat and are already planning our next trip!

Wonderful and reviving experience in the high desert

We spent a week in the casita just as ski sason was winding down and spring was beginning. It was absolutely perfect. Kitty is a womderful host who is there when you need her and provides very useful local information. We especially enjoyed the beauty and quiet of the casita itself, nestled in the mountains as well as the proximity to Arroyo Seco. The walk on the backroads to town was wonderful. The casita and its surrounds are even more beautiful than indicated in the photos. The proximity to hiking, downhill, and cross country skiing as well as to the wonders of Taos are additional assets. We cannot wait to return.

Quiet retreat

Kitty's Casita was everything we could have hoped for to get some great rest and relaxation. The casita is very cozy and charming with lovely flowers and birds. The views are delightful and the stars at night breathtaking. The lane provided good walking and some very friendly neighborhood dogs. We had our dog and found the fenced yard around the house very helpful. We enjoyed cooking and eating out on the deck every day. We found a handy natural food market in the little town nearby. Our only caution would be the stairs up to the loft bedroom, not a good idea for those who are older or have disabilities.

Great dog friendly adobe in Arroyo Seco

Rented Kitty's casita from Aug. 5th - 8th of this year. The pictures looked great and the actual rental, even better. The adobe casita sits on the back of Kitty's property and is very private. Large fenced in yard for our dogs, they loved it. The hot tub was a great way to chill and relax after a long day. The main level consists of the living area and kitchen with the bathroom around the side hallway where there is a large closet for hanging clothing as well as shelves. The stairs up to the bedroom area are rather steep, and the dogs did not want to venture up. The bedroom , which is a loft is very comfortable with plenty of storage in the dresser. The area surrounding the adobe is very quiet and peaceful. It is just a short 2 mile drive into Arroyo Seco, and Taos is just another easy 9 mile drive down the road. We thought we had made a mistake staying so far out of Taos, but it ended up being the main reason we will return again. Thank you Kitty for letting stay in your casita, we will be returning soon.

Epic Vacation

Kitty's Casitas was absolutely perfect for us. Close to the ski area but off the beaten path which made it nice and quiet. The layout was wonderful, the place was clean, cozy and had everything we needed. Especially the hot tub! Our aching muscles really needed it after a day on the mountain. We are planning our next trip as I type this. I'd give 10 stars if they were there to give. Thank you so much for allowing us yo enjoy your place in paradise.

Perfect location

Loved being slightly down the mountain and close to the charming town of Arroyo Seco for a dinner or grocery trip. Hot tub was a great perk after a day on the slopes, and the home is lovingly tended to. Glad we had 4 wheel drive on a wet day as the road gets a bit boggy but was perfect spot for us to ski by day and relax by night!

The most adorable Casita

The house was perfect! The location was great, so close to the ski slopes and to the cute little town Arroyo Seco! The Hot tub was a perfect way to end a long day on the slopes! The Dogs Guido and Ellie were SO sweet, my son looked forward to seeing them everyday when they came for a visit. Kitty was super sweet and so helpful, replied to my questions so quickly. We will be coming back next year! ❤️

Great romantic getaway just minutes from Taos and Skiing

Kitty’s place was cozy and very well stocked with supplies...blankets, toiletries, kitchen utensils, etc. We loved the hot tub out on the deck and used it every day. Our 2 small dogs had a great time exploring the fenced yard. What a beautiful house it is and so remote- feeling yet just minutes away from tons of restaurants, bars, Taos and the Taos Ski Valley. The house has a sleeper sofa as well as a loft bed upstairs. The stairs were fine for us but a little steep for the dogs. I think if older folks were staying here it might be good to have some anti-slip backing or paint on them. Lots of windows and great natural light through the whole house. Internet was fine for checking email and surfing Web. Had a wonderful time!

Peaceful and pastoral

We had a great week staying at Kitty's, enjoying the beautiful location and cozy ambiance of the casita. Loved stargazing from the hot tub after a long hike and too much dinner! Also had fun playing fetch with Guido, the resident Lab. (as former lab owners) Great spot and very attentive hostess! Enjoy!

Perfect Stay

From the welcome visit by Guido, the black lab ambassador, to the split of Gruet sparkling wine from Kitty, our arrival after a long day of driving was a delight. The casita has a carport to protect your vehicle, a hot tub, and all of the items you need to have a relaxing stay. Our dog, Tucker, especially liked the fenced-in, grassy casita yard, surrounded by an even larger fenced-in, grassy main yard. The loft bedroom is cozy and charming. A great place to stay near Taos.

Paradise in Arroyo Seco

The nine days I spent at Kitty's Casita in Arroyo Seco (5 miles outside of Taos) were thoroughly delightful---everything I'd hoped for in a 'retreat' and base for reconnecting with the magic of Taos after 22 years away. Kitty was a wonderful host; I especially appreciated her thoughtfulness in checking to see whether I was home before mowing the lawn or bringing in a service person. She was both friendly and respectful of my privacy. The Casita itself is darling and lovingly tended. Clean, comfortable, well- appointed, and with cooling shade trees in the backyard. The new hot tub was great--though I will say it would have been preferred had the heating element not run nearly perpetually; personally, I much prefer the lovely quiet of the surrounding area, sans hot tub noise! Just my preference. The only other 'heads up' to an otherwise glowing and appreciative stay ( and review) is that the steps to the sleeping loft are very (!) steep; wise to hold both of those hand rails and not to try to carry too many things up/ down at a given time. All-in-all, I HIGHLY recommend Kitty's Casita; it was tough to leave and I look forward to returning!

Very Cozy! Very Lovely! I didn't want to LEAVE.

I loved this property. Very private. Though I stayed in the Winter I could tell the grounds must be quite special in the growing season given the number of planting beds. Kitty even gave us a jar of homemade peach jam!!! for her yard. The place was perfect in every way. If something needed attention it was done right away!!! The pilot blew out on the water heater and within a few minutes it was re-lit for us. Will stay again. Thanks Kitty!

We keep coming back!

This was the 4th or 5th time we've stayed at Kitty's. The location is excellent. The casita is cozy and warm. Our dogs love the stay as much as we do and have become friends with Kitty's Labs. Kitty is always very helpful if we need anything. The view from the bedroom window is awesome....less than a half mile from the base of El Salto, with Taos Mountain directly south. Arroyo Seco, the little village a mile a way looks like something you might see in the Alps, and there's ALWAYS something to do in Taos. Every year I attend at least 2 or 3 concerts.

Gorgeous Views, Quiet and Peaceful!!

This rental is so charming. We were there in late October when the Aspens and Cottonwoods turn golden/yellow glowing wonderful. Waking to the golden light was so magical. There is a great gas grill and we had some of our meals out on the deck looking at the mountains which already had some snow on them. Great place! We plan on returning.

Great Anniversary Get Away

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Kitty's Casita, and we will treasure our memories there! Her rental is brimming with charm; it's a cozy adobe casita filled with tasteful southwestern decor and everything you need for a great stay. For those who want to cook in, the kitchen is stocked with coffee filters, spices, oil, and plenty of cooking utensils. The yard is a fantastic escape with mountain views and a hot tub. The bedroom is a cozy loft with great views. Just note that the stairs up to it are quite steep. But if that isn't an issue for you, this is truly the perfect vacation spot. We adored it!

Beautiful property!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Kitty's Casita! :) The property is beautiful! We didn't want to leave! It is located outside of downtown Taos, and we loved the proximity to the mountains. So peaceful and such gorgeous views! We also appreciated the fenced in yard; our dog loved it! There are great local restaurants, and plenty of things to do in the area (shop, hike, sight-see, explore the culture)! We would definitely return to Kitty's Casita. :)

Cozy and Beautiful

My partner and I come to Taos every May and this rental is the best place we've ever stayed. It's just perfect: Quiet and beautiful and very private and cozy. We loved sipping coffee in the hottub in the morning and listening to birds. The back yard is spacious and tranquil and the view of the mountain from the loft bedroom is really something to wake up to! We really didn't want to leave to "do" anything in Taos. Plus, Arroyo Seco is simply charming and close by. We managed to stop by Sol Natural Food Market once a day for supplies--healthy things and gourmet items. And if we felt like eating out, there's Aceq. Wonderful place. Thank you.

Can't Wait to Come Back!

I absolutely loved staying in Kitty's Casita. It was exactly was I was looking for, quiet, private, removed, but still a very close drive to anything we could possibly need. Great for a romantic getaway and some R & R, was so glad we could bring our four legged friend too. Kitty is very accommodating and provided some great suggestions. Some of my favorites are the Chow Shack for a quick and easy morning breakfast burrito, and Orlando's for dinner. Also if you are into breweries, you MUST check out Taos Mesa Brewing. Great beer and great views. We loved every minute of our stay here, and I do hope to return soon. Thank you Kitty, for sharing your lovely home.

Kitty, Guido, and Luigi's Casita

This casita near the small village of Arroyo Seco and close to Taos is a lovely getaway. It's peaceful, quiet, and perfect for enjoying the night sky. The casita has a privacy fence which makes it seem even more secluded. The casita is well-maintained and has been carefully decorated with unique items that have a southwest flavor--many of which appear to be from local artists. The casita is comfortable and homey. While the loft bedroom takes a couple of trips up and down to get used to, eventually it becomes a part of the casita that it special. The home owner is gracious and welcoming--a bottle of wine and fresh flowers were unexpected touches. And, of course, there are Guido and Luigi, the wonderful black Labs that are very "people friendly." The next time we plan to be in the Taos area, we'll arrange our schedule so that we can stay here. We highly recommend it.

My husband Joe and I have lived in Taos for over 40 years and love it!

Why they chose this property

I built this little casita in Taos just before my mother died in 1991. I wanted a small private cozy house that was easy to maintain in a quiet area, its really a dream come true!

What makes this property unique

One of the best qualities of this property is the views and the quiet of the area. The property sits on 1 and a half acres, and because we are in a very rural area the stars at night are unimaginable, and really wonderful to enjoy from the warmth of the hot tub, (as long as you don't get your hair wet!) We also feature a new gas fireplace for those chilly nights! You can often hear the coyotes at night and occasionally see the elk go by in the neighboring fields.
