As others have already stated, Terri's cottage is wonderful! The location couldn't be better, and the inside of the cottage is adorable (far better than what the pictures show). Terri and her pets are all quite friendly, but they will also respect your privacy :) It was a terrific little "home" to return to after being out all day, and we loved the nearby beach and just walking around the neighborhood. We stayed 4 nights, but I wish we had stayed longer. Highly recommend this relaxing and conveniently located cottage!

This place is so much better than I could have expected. The cottage is perfectly situated on a dead end street so no extra foot or street traffic comes through. Honoli'i beach is right on the next street within walking distance! That was a pleasant surprise. You can walk to downtown Hilo from here or take a secluded walk on a 1 mile road through a jungle to the next town. It's so lush and beautiful. On your walk you can expect to see fruit trees, waterfalls and sea turtles down below swimming withe surfers at honoli'i. The neighborhood is great too...very upscale. Also, the owner is super nice. She's got a wonderful dog and even a chicken! I would definitely stay here again. Oh! The bungalow also provides you with a kitchenette and all of the necessary supplies so yo don't have to eat out for all meals.

Stayed 4 days and 3 nights and enjoyed everything about Terre’s cottage. The location is perfect; just minutes from Hilo town, 10min drive from the airport and a short walk from Honoli’i beach. Thoroughly enjoyed a nice 15-20min walk along beautiful streams and waterfalls. The cottage is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac so there is minimal traffic and very private. The people in the neighborhood are very friendly and cordial. The cottage is exactly as advertised; simple, well cared for and in good condition. Terre is very friendly, accommodating and provided great recommendations for places to go. I recommend Terre’s cottage and will definitely return the next time I need accommodations in Hilo.

Peaceful Beach Cottage

My husband and I enjoyed staying in the cute beach cottage. We loved walking to the beach in the mornings to watch the surfers then stroll a little further down the road to a waterfall. The neighborhood was safe, quiet and easy to find. We wanted to stay somewhere away from the tourist scene and we wanted to cook our own meals. These accomadations were exactly what we were looking for. We rented the cottage for a week. Terre, the owner, is pleasant and she leaves you alone. On the other hand, she is easily available if you need something. She gave us fresh picked papaya from her garden and later offered us some garden tomatoes. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the rental for those of you who want a peaceful and beautiful neighborhood to sleep in.

We had such a wonderful time at Terre's cottage. It is very close to Hilo town, but yet has the advantage of being located in a very quiet residential neighborhood. Getting to all the major attractions, such as Mauna Kea, Volcano etc. is very convenient since it is close to the main road and there is also a cute little beach/surf spot in walking distance. The cottage is perfect for a couple, providing all amenities necessary (all clean) and with parking right in front of the door. Terre is such a great, lovely host- we would come back any time. I will definitely recommend it to family and friends! Such a great deal!!!

We only stayed in the rental for two nights but found both the property and the owner wonderful! Charming, clean and in a fantastic location, our only complaint would have to be that we couldn't stay longer. A must if you are looking for somewhere different to stay during your travels. We are planning another trip in June 2011 and will definately be checking to see if the property is available!

This is a nice little rental for two. The surfing beach is just a few minutes walk away. Better yet is the easy access to a walk along the old road, with views of waterfalls. The road is open to traffic, but there is very little. The owner lives in an adjacent property, and was very accommodating, especially given the short notice on which we booked the rental.
