A Magical Setting
A Magical Setting
A friend and I spent two nights here and wished it could have been more! The setting by the lake was so lovely, we couldn't wait to get back from sight seeing to enjoy it (yes, even from the Biltmore which was just a few minutes away!). Enjoying a glass of wine on the beautiful deck was so peaceful and relaxing. The grounds were beautifully kept complete with garden and a cozy hammock. The house was comfortable, well-equipped and the owners very accommodating. Our stay here was a highlight of our 2-week trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway. I would highly recommend it.

Just what we needed!
Just what we needed!
We had a very nice stay at the Lakeside Cottage. The cottage is clean and spacious, with just the right amount of space for our family of four to stay, it reminded us of our first lakeside cottage home so much. We loved the nature trails, and visits from the chickens! The kids loved the swing that took them high in the sky over the lake. I love to cook and the owners were happy to oblige my need for many kitchen towels! Everything was is great working order, warm and cozy, with nice towels and sheets. Tons of interesting books, a selection of movies, and cd's were available. Thanks for a great week to the owners, Tama and Allison!

My wife and I strongly recommend this cottage to anyone seeking a beautifully serene setting with remarkably easy access to all of the attractions within and around Asheville. The owners, who live on the property, were available if needed but allowed privacy when desired. They graciously shared their garden, dock, row boat, etc… The lake is gorgeous, and it even has fish (bass and bluegill galore) for the amateur fisherman. The neighborhood is friendly but quiet. We will certainly stay again on our next visit to Asheville.

My husband and I came to Asheville to spend a week vacation for my birthday and we landed in this cottage... What a little jewel! We enjoyed the house -just the right size and the right amenities for us- the beautiful garden, the lake, the (literally) magical trail behind the property, and Tama and Alison's discreet and helpful presence. The rental was the perfect location to start exploring some of the region's wonders: the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore, the city of Asheville. I particularly enjoyed the last 2 days of our stay that we spent in the cottage's gardens reading, relaxing and contemplating the nature. A week of beautiful memories!

Excellent cottage by the water
Excellent cottage by the water
We really enjoyed our time at the lakeside cottage this past week. Tama really came through and let us rent this unit last minute with our 3 dogs for a week. The cottage has a nice sized kitchen and living room with two comfortable bedrooms. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The cottage sits right at the end of the lake with the spillway only a few hundred feet from the front door. The rental includes a dock with a rowboat and a fire circle right on the lake. We really enjoyed watching the stars while roasting marshmallows! Our dogs loved the trail that led down to the creek. It is such a nice stroll with rock outcrops and a moss walkway. We will definitely be renting this place again. Can't wait!

About the owner: I have been living in Western North Carolina for over 25 years . As a world traveler, I have still found this area to be the finest place to live. We chose Asheville to raise our family of four daughters as it is a progressive thinking , environmentally conscious community. As someone who loves the mountains I have created beautiful vacation retreats in Cherokee and developed several projects in the area to provide people the opportunity to have their own mountain retreat. My latest project is Big Laurel Mountain, a wonderful waterfront mountain community in Madison County. Gardening is my favorite pastime and I have created extraordinary gardens anywhere I have been , Creating and promoting a sustainable, organic, and peaceful lifestyle for myself and my family is my goal in life. I am also a Breathwork Coach and student and teacher of transformation and healing. You can schedule Breathwork healing sessions with me while here. My wife, Allison, is multi-talented in design, web design, an author, counselor, and is currently both an excellent real estate broker as well as working full time with Family Preservation Services.
Why the Owner Chose Asheville:
Lakeside Garden Cottage is part of our unique family compound that we have lived in for almost 20 years. When it came time to move onto town from our mountain home in order to raise a family we were extraordinarily blessed to find a rare location in Asheville on one of the two private lakes within city limits. Living here can best be described a living full time in a vacation home that is also our primary residence. Being beside water is something I am constantly grateful for here. There is abundant wildlife on the lake .This place has the feel of a private natural oasis and with its large grounds and lakeside setting gave me the perfect 'canvas' to create my ever expanding gardens. As raising a family and having access to good schools as well as all the amazing things that downtown has to offer were equally as important to us , we were able to find something extremely rare here as we can hop in the car and be anywhere we need to be within minutes of leaving our little oasis. Most people who visit us and discover our hidden retreat are blown away that such a place exists so close to town.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Wake up to the sound of the waterfall flowing over the dam close to the cottage,,, enjoy your morning coffe on the porch or down at the dock while watching a Great Blue Heron pass by. Hop into downtown in 5 minutes and enjoy breakfast at Early Girl or Over Easy and peruse the great art galleries and shops afterwards. Come back for the afternoon and take the rowboat out on the lake or just relax with a book in the hammock. Go fishing if you like.If it is in season pick a few vegies from the organic garden and grill out on the porch, hop back into town for some music , theater, or a movie within minutes or stay and watch the sunset over the lack from the dock followed by a nice campfire in the evening. This is all where you are or within 5 minutes but of course when you are ready to venture out you have easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore House, the Arboretum. white water rafting, a soak in the tubs at Hot Springs, Navitat Canopy tours. maybe you just want to catch a movie at one of two theaters 5 and 10 minutes away.
