The little town of Schonwald is a German health resort (Kur-Ort) ; well known for alpine & cross-country in the winter, as well as excellent hiking & mountain biking in the warm summers. The area is also dotted with health spas, saunas and wellness centers. Golf, Horse-back riding, Tennis, etc. all near-by. Note ; Free tennis for our Guests from May-September.
A beautiful place to relax for you and your family. Away from it all, but still close to the action. Enjoy the active outdoors in Summer and Winter, and the old cities of Freiburg (Germany), Strassbourg (France) and Zurich & Basel (Switzerland), with histories dating back to 950 AD.
Day trip opportunities include ; the village of Triberg with the highest waterfall in Germany, Europark (family fun-park), Cuckoo-clock shops, Museums, The wine area of the Upper Rhine Valley / Alsace (and only 2 hrs from the Munich Oktober Fest). Nearby crystal-clear lakes; such as TitiSee, SchluchtSee and BodenSee, Flowerpark Mainau, The source of the river Donau (Danube), Old steam train rides...and many more. This is also a place for good food and drink, including the famous "Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte" (Black Forest cake), and a vast choice of local beers and wines ; Enjoy our favourite Gasthof Rossle in the valley ; they have it all.
