My husband and our adult daughters stayed at the Hubmann's for a week during Oktoberfest. What a great place! They own a beautiful building. We had two, one bedroom apartments and they were both very comfortable, well furnished and clean. None of us wanted to leave. The street is a deadend and very quite. The other apartment buildings on this short street are also attractive and not over three stories and are also nice. It is a good neighborhood. There is great shopping very close - pharmacy, two bakeries, grocery store, variety store, bookstore and a deli. We ate at two restaurants and they were both within 10-15 minute walk. There are two nice townie pubs. The subway and the street car stop are both only about an eight minute walk. Althought you do not need a car, there is a Eurocar rental location about a 15 minute walk away. Mr. and Mrs. Hubmann are helpful, friendly and very classy people. We hope to stay with them again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 16/17

Our stay was fantastic. The apartment is very clean and comfortable. Gabriele has thought of everything and we never felt like we were without something. We felt welcome and most importantly, we felt at home. We were so thankful to stay at this apartment while we waited for our permanent residence in Munich to become available. We are an expatriate family that has relocated to Munich. The warm hospitality of Josef and Gabriele made our adjustment to a foreign land much easier. We were close to the U-Bahn station, health food store, local grocery store, and pharmacy. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend this apartment, you will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My father, sister, 20 year old daughter and I were delighted with Josef and Gabrielle's cozy apartment. The apartment is conveniently located between downtown Munich and our relatives who live within a 10 minute drive of the apartment. The apartment is set in a nice neighborhood and is bright, airy and nicely decorated. It is also meticulously clean. The garden in the back yard is quite and restful. There are household rules but we appreciated them, knowing the apartment wouldn't have been so nice & clean without the rules. Our apartment was two floors up, no elevator, might be difficult for disabled persons. The bath towels weren't "Downy" soft but we laughingly realized we were getting the same effect as if we were using a loofah sponge. We found the kitchen to be well stocked with everything we needed and to be the best place for reception for our "smart" phones. There is a small but fully stocked grocery store, fresh produce stand and subway station to downtown Munich within walking distance. Both Gabrielle and Josef are very friendly and very helpful, we would happily recommend Josef and Gabrielle's apartment to our friends and family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hello Janet, thank you very much for your detaile review. Regarding towels we think we have to eyplain the following: Upon one of our traveller's advice we stopped adding softener agents, which might cause allergic reactions, and which are ecologically harmful. And there is no essential disadvantage but not to be such soft, and not to have this special smell, which many of our guests even consider as an advantage to activate the skin! Thank you Janet for your review!

Arrived in Munich about the middle of a 3-week tour of Eastern Europe. Found the Hubmann's a perfect place for resting up and a convenient location for exploring Munich and Bavaria. The apartment is bright, airy and beautifully decorated. It is very clean. Location is a bit off the beaten track but an easy walk from the subway station. I didn't find the local restaurants all that good, so preferred eating in central Munich, before taking the train back out. There is a pretty good grocery and a very nice produce stand in the park next to the train station. Also a good coffee shop, Cafe Wetterstein, but they open late and close early. Garden is a very nice place to relax.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were delayed getting to Munich but our sweet host, Gabriele met us at the door at 9:30 with a smile and cold beer and split of wine! Great location to the U-Bahn, which is the model of any city for cheap, fast trasport. Nearby grocery store for basics and quiet area at night. We met other people who come for weeks at at time and we hope to visit them again in the future. Munich was a highlight of our 3 weeks in Europe.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful visit in Munich much to the credit of our hosts! Our apartment was perfect in every way. The location is an easy walk to the rail system and not far from the downtown shopping area, yet nestled into a quiet neighborhood. Gabi was so helpful in showing us how to get around and checking to see if we need anything. The apartment was spotless and a welcome place to come home to each evening....especially after trudging around in the rain! Thanks so much Gabi and Josef!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed for a week in early May and found the location to be very convenient and the apartment clean, but were put off by the owner's intrusiveness and the many rules in relation to housekeeping. Due to a physical problem my husband could not go shoeless and it was an obvious distress to the owner. The bath towels were like sand paper. There were notes everywhere about what could and could not be placed on closet shelves, and notes in the bathroom of the rule about gentlemen not standing to pee.. Our comings and goings were closely monitored. We felt like unwelcome relations for our stay.Owner response: We may contradict: We have been doing our job to accommodate guests from all over the world for 18 years, and we also heartily welcomed these guests. Noticing gentleman's distress we carried his luggage upstairs into the apartment, and i.e. offered mineral water, tea and coffee. But it does not go without saying to put dirty street shoes onto clean and bright upholsteries. To respect privacy of our guests, and to keep the apartments clean - this is most appreciated by our guests, and we are engaged to guarantee this also for future guests. Josef & Gabi

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at this convenient location. We had an automobile but found out we really didn't need one. We were within walking distance to the train station, grocery store, shopping and our favorite stop the bakery. We arrived and had a gift basket waiting for us. The apartment was immaculate, roomy and beautiful. Our host and hostess supplied us with the inside scoop on places to go that were beyond the tourist spots. They were there when we needed anything but gave us complete privacy as well. We are highly recommending our friends and family stay here and when we return to Germany we will stay here again too.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We L-O-V-E-D this place! Lovely room, cute little kitchen and with lovely dishes, beautiful garden, cute little dog that the owners own if you need a dog fix while gone... Easy access to the subway & tram, lovely grocery store close by with lots of that yummy German bread. Owners treat you like family. A++.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, adult son and I spent a delightful week in the Hubmann's cozy and charming home recently. Gabrielle greeted us warmly at the front door and oriented us to the loft apartment which includes one bedroom with high-quality linens and fluffy comforters; our son had a separate bedroom on the next floor above. The apartment was immaculately clean, tidy and very well furnished with much more than we could ever need; our hosts had literally thought of everything! The bathroom was spacious and modern with a large vanity/sink and a luxurious shower that provided endless hot water to relish after a long day touring all the sights. We loved the quiet, residential location: a mere 5-minute walk to the tram line or U-bahn station (we recommend the purchase of a multi-day partner ticket for the best transportation bargain). The neighborhood includes several restaurants, a full-line grocery store, 2 bakeries and 2 pharmacies. Our thoughtful hosts provided a notebook of helpful information which covered most questions and they were always eager and available to offer advice and recommend places of interest. Our only regret was that the early spring weather didn't afford us an opportunity to enjoy their large and lovely garden area; it would be a special delight in just another month! A week in this beautiful part of Germany is simply not enough but we will return soon for a longer visit now that we've found our lovely home-away-from-home with the Hubmanns. Thank you, Gabrielle and Josef, for a week to remember always!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
