Your home away from home!

Bedrooms 1
Space 322 sq. ft.
Property type studio
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Your super host will be there to welcome you and, if needed, advise you!

The perfect "short stay" in Amsterdam. For a minimum of 2 nights, max 2 people. Studio Six, Nice living/bedroom, private hallway, bathroom and kitchen. Located at the east part of the center of Amsterdam. A small but private studio with a very comfortable double bed.

Our guests do stay in an apartment building. Neighbors will expect them to keep the noise down especial "after hours" In return they will do the same. Do keep in mind though that the location is in a student area with the University of Amsterdam very close by.

On arrival your studio will be nice and clean. We would appreciate the effort to keep it that way as we do not charge a cleaning fee! The Studio is smoke free!

About Robert Gaerthé

Allthough I was born in The Hague, Amsterdam is more home to me then any other place I ever lived. My children were born in Amsterdam and after some moving around we finally all came back here. Home! I am a painter, portraits a.o. and I also love to cook. Being a host comes very naturally to me. All our lives we had friends staying with us, sometimes months on end. Feel free to contact me, anytime.

I hope you will enjoy your stay in Amsterdam.

Why Robert Gaerthé chose Grachtengordel

Although still located in the center of Amsterdam this area is a bit away from the hectic tourist parts. While still easy to walk there where also the crowds go to, coming home is being away from the noise! Our guests do have that choice.

Our area , with the University just around the corner, offers multiple choices in reasonably priced small restaurants and coffee shops due to this being a student area. Closer into the center is where you start paying tourist prices.

What makes this studio unique

Allthough the Stuidio is totally private your host is near whenever so required. We, me and my wife. do live in the same building so assistance, if/when reguired, is always there. Other then that, there is total privacy!

The stay was great! Robert and Beppie and very accommodating and provided information about the area as well as a stocked kitchen. Truly made our weekend in Amsterdam that much better.

Cosy apartment on canal

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this lovely little apartment. Robert and Beppie were the perfect hosts, attending to our every question promptly and gave us lots of very helpful tips about where to go, and what to see in Amsterdam. The apartment was very well equipped and everything worked; there were even guide books and information leaflets on where to go and what to see, also some board games and DVD's to watch on the TV. Robert very kindly also provided some fresh food supplies, which was very much appreciated. Although the apartment was cosy, there was central heating which we only needed to use once. There was plenty of hot water for showering and washing dishes; there was even a dishwasher if you preferred. The bed was super comfy and the neighbourhood was very quiet so we slept exceedingly well! The apartment was ideally located to a metro link to the city centre, and there were a couple of tram stops nearby and was also within walking distance to many of the central tourist places. There was a largish supermarket very close by which was well stocked with everything one could need if cooking at home, which we did on several occasions. We would certainly recommend Robert and Beppie's apartment to any couple visiting Amsterdam. We have stayed in quite a few self catering apartments and this one is the best so far. Thanks Robert and Beppie!

Owner's Response: Marion & Ian, Thank you very much for the nice words! It was more then a pleasure to host you two. Do come back some time! I hope your travels so far have been adventurous. We will for sure travel to the Scottish high lands on our next visit to Scotland. Not sure if we will ever make as far as Perth! Thanks again and enjoy your gap time. It sounds like you are making the most of it. Greetings from Amsterdam

Poised to become an ever more popular destination for Amsterdam tourists, the Plantage (Plantation) is a splendid place to devote a day or more. In 2011, the area reached 4 million visitors for the first time, with its wonderful accumulation of cultural attractions - from the former Jewish Quarter, to the Tropics Museum, to one of the nation's favorite zoos. Also walking distance from, a.o., the Rembrandt's house, famous flea market, The Hermitage etc. All the "has to visit while in Amsterdam" places are within reasonable walking distances.
