Stayed here for 3 days and we were so lucky to have chosen this place. Very ancient house but freshly fully renovated with quality materials and furniture. Enjoyed it very much. Trecastagni is a cosy village on mount Etna, but it's warmly advised to get a car to visit the surroundings.

Quiet town, unexpected quarters
While the apartment we stayed at was newly and cleverly renovated, it was not the sunny, Etna view "luxury cottage" we expected (pictured here) with a balcony. It was another flat across the courtyard, which felt a bit like a cellar carved out of the hillside. And we were very disappointed that while we had been promised a 4:00 check-in, we were denied access until 6:00 pm. Very tired from a long day on the road, that lowered our spirits considerably.
That being said, the owner did his best to make us comfortable. The bedroom and bathroom were pleasant and spacious. And we certainly enjoyed the quiet, typical town that seemed free of high tourist traffic.

Thank you for staying with us and for leaving your comments, which can help us doing better all the times. We have 3 different properties all in the same location, the one you booked does not have a balcony as it is on the ground floor, you probably confused with another listing. The flat is not carved out of a hillside but has been realized in an old buiding which used to be an old stable in 1700s. We fully renovated it trying to preserve the unique charme of the old building, we believe the pictures fully describe the property. Kitchen, bathroom and dining area is in the ground floor and bedrooms in the upper floor (mezzanine). All the pictures in our listings are real pictures of our flats, guests should always check them before booking a property to see they match their taste. As the apartment is on the ground floor the view of Mt Etna is not from the window but from the building's inner courtyard. Also the listing says that check-in is available from 4:00 pm, but guests are required to inform us in advance of the desired arrival time, as we do not have a reception 24h like in a hotel. If you drive directly to the place without telling when you will be there it is expected that you will have to wait for someone to come and give you the keys.
Family of 4 Two adults and two teenagers. We rented the apartment Scirocco for 3 weeks in March 2018. It was perfect for us. I like that it had the kitchen, Bath and main entrance downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs.
Kitchen was fully equipped and if we needed anything, Sabastian, one of the owners was just a text away. The shower was beautiful and had plenty of hot water! We were given plenty of towels.(nice quality thick cotton in 3 sizes) The private courtyard outside the apartments is beautiful. It is also very securely locked, so I felt very safe not only in the courtyard area but in my apartment as well . There is laundry on site, some apartments have a washer and some don't. Our apartment did not have a washer but I just text Sabastian make an appointment and we can use the common area washer. Much to my delight there was a young man who put my wash in and then came to get me when it was done! The mattresses were very comfortable, and the bedding /pillows where very good quality. As for the area Trecastagni, everything you need is walking distance away. Butcher with amazing food is next door as well as a fruit market across the street and super helpful. Down the street are pizzerias, cute shops, an amazing bakery and gelato shop, and a few days a week there is a nice market with a bit of everything. Two blocks away is a courtyard with a Post office, Pharmacy, and I think police station.(there where always police close by) I felt at ease and safe. Catania city is just 10 miles away, and Mount Etna is practically in the back yard. I recommend renting a car, there is so much to see and do, you can cover a lot of sightseeing at your own pace with a car. A big THANK YOU to the owners for making our first international trip a huge success.

Newly renovated, but small and very hot in summer
Apartment : The place is nicely renovated in a charming old house and everything worked as it should ( you need to wait 5 minutes for the hot water to come through). However, it is to the small side, i.e. no couch or the like to relax in the evenings/afternoons once the kids are asleep. Also, it is very hot in summer (the fan helps for one of the rooms) and there is no view of Etna from the apartment. The garden is not private, but that wasn't a problem for us.
Surroundings: We enjoyed small walks to the town center "just around the corner" in a characteristic Italian town with lots of local atmosphere.

Tastefully renovated mansion in the heart of Trecastagni
We spent 2 days in the house, which has been recently renovated. Some pictures in the stairway show the very impressive works. The result is very nice, the room where we stayed is very comfortable, new furnitures and a fully equipped kitchen. The town centre (very calm and clean) is just a stroll away. From the main square a bus takes you to the main sightseeings location on the volcano, to Catania and to the seaside. Due to our short stay we only visited the former, but we'd definitely come back for the rest.
The owner is charming and very helpful. Couldn't find a better place, honestly.

Much more than a place to sleep
My trip to Sicily couldn't start better!
I stayed for 4 days in Trecastagni, in this marvelous cottage, which combines rustic and modern design.
Clean, comfortable, cozy. You will feel at ease immediately. The location is top-notch. The village is situated on the Mount Etna, so you can enjoy a view from the top over the countryside and old beautiful houses. It is advised to rent a car to get to the place and explore the surroundings. It is worth it.
I fully recommend this place. You won't regret it. Hope to come back again one day!
